Roads and Highways in Indonesia
Bali Mandara Toll Road or Nusa Dua-Ngurah Rai-Benoa Toll Road is a tolled causeway bridge stretch across the Gulf of Benoa 12.7 km in length. The Rp 2.48 Trillion (USD 220 million) highway connect the city of Denpasar and South Kuta, Badung Regency also the Ngurah Rai International Airport. The reason behind construction of Bali Mandara Toll Road was to prevent traffic jams on the Ngurah Rai By Pass Road, previously the only road connecting areas of Bali south of the airport with areas north of the airport. The Ngurah Rai By Pass Road, a land-based route, could not be widened because the right-of-way was already occupied by the Ngurah Rai International Airport's runway. Consequently, the Bali Mandara Toll Road was built over water.
This toll road was officially opened on 23 September 2013 by President of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

Bali's HORRIBLE FIRST IMPRESSION! (Bali Airport Taxi Mafia)
Our first impression of Bali was not the nicest.... #BalisHorribleFirstImpression We had heard about the airport hassle, but we had never experienced anything quite like it. After a long travel day, this was one of the last things we wanted to deal with. In this video, we talk about ways to avoid and handle the #BaliTaxi experience in the #BaliAirport.

Nusa Dua, was für ein schöner Strand. Mit dem Blue Bird Taxi ging es von Sanur nach Nusa Dua. Blue Bird Taxis sind die günstigste Variante, wenn man nicht selbst Roller fahren will, in Sanur von A nach B zu kommen. Was wir sonst noch erlebt haben und was wir für einen Regenfall hatten, schaut es euch an.

Flying into Denpasar Bali - What to do
How to get a taxi, how to get a visa when you fly into Bali Denpasar Airport (Ngurah Rai International Airport)

There is nothing I hate more than flying into an unfamiliar airport and not knowing what to do. In this video I give some tips on getting a visa and a cheap taxi. Avoid paying 4x normal price.
Intro song -
Living In Bali – Nusa Dua, Sanur and Amed (2019)
Our stay in Bali started In Nusa Dua, which we felt would be a pleasant way to start our trip. The area has the top resorts and good swimming beaches. We found a hotel on the perimeter of the resort so we could experience the area at a reasonable cost. We were disappointed. The resort area had a nice walk that took you past the resorts. They were all high end and self-contained backing onto the beach. The resorts really had denuded the area of a genuine Balinese experience.
Swimming was not good, either. The tide was out during the afternoon, which made swimming impossible. Water depth was a few inches and walking to the sea was a few hundred metres and rocky with coral.
Within three days we moved to Sanur, which is only a few miles away but busy with traffic. The whole of the southern tip of the island and Denpasar, Bali’s capital, is full of traffic with mediocre air quality. Many of the beaches have much rubbish. The standard of accommodation, the food and prices are very reasonable, especially compared with Australia, which many of its tourists come from. A number come here to drink and party.
We headed north-east to Amed, about 2.5 hours by taxi from Sanur. All taxis we took were Grab for comparatively cheap, transparent pricing. The fare was about £20. Most taxi drivers will take you for a day trip round Bali for about 500,000 rupiah, about £28.
Amed was much more what we wanted from Bali. Great snorkelling, and it still has live coral, unlike many tourist spots.

Use Grab Bali, Not Taxis | Cheapest Airport Transfer, Better Than Uber, Private Driver
If you're looking for the best and cheapest way to travel in style during your stay on Bali, look no further than your phone and the app Grab. I've been a huge fan since I first moved to Malaysia earlier this year. I use their service Grab Car instead of taxis almost daily in Kuala Lumpur, I've used their drivers the couple of times I've travelled to Singapore, and I used Grab Car instead of taxis or Uber exclusively during my recent month in Bali. From the airport to Jimbaran, in and around Seminyak, from the Sheraton in Kuta to Ubud, and from The Mulia near Uluwatu to the ferry port in Padangbai. They offer the cheapest rides to and and from Denpasar's International airport and their drivers are kind and keep new, well-maintained vehicles.
For copy/paste instructions to share with the driver in Bahasa to tips on using the Grab app all around Bali (including IMPORTANT how-to instructions for flawless airport pick-ups and drop-offs), visit my full review:

How to get a BlueBird Taxi at Bali Ngurah Rai International Airport | Arrival at Bali Airport
Follow along and see how to get a BlueBird Taxi at Bali Ngurah Rai International Airport.
Special rules apply to the airport where Ngurah Rai Airport Taxi holds a taxi monopoly at the arrivals gate.
BlueBird is the most reputable meter taxis in Bali.
They do not have a license to pick-up customers, but are allowed to drop customers at the Bali airport (Departure Terminal - Level 3).
So, after arrival gate, take the elevator to 3rd floor where the International Departure Terminal is and quickly hop into a BlueBird taxi who has just dropped off customers to Departure Terminal.
This video will be helping other fellow travelers/first timers to Bali, starting their trip to this little Slice of Paradise with less stress.

What Taxi's Should You Trust? || Bali Taxi Feud 2019
I talk with the locals to get details on the Taxi Feud that isn’t getting any better.
I won’t tell whether you should use the online service or go to a local stand, but you should know the rules and opinions from the drivers themselves before you decide. Luckily, there seems to be a solution at the end of it all.
This week on Tracing Thought I visit local stands in popular tourist areas and go to the airport to talk with Taxi Drivers about prices and conflicts within the Taxi System.
A Deeper Understanding to the Taxi Feud in Bali.

10 TIPS on how to get through BALI'S ARIPORT
Traveling to a new country, arriving at the new airport can sometimes give us a little bit of anxiety so in today’s episode I’ll share few tips and information about Bali’s airport so when you finally arrive here, it’ll be much easier and less stressful.
Bali's Airport, officially known as Ngurah Rai International Airport is located in the south of Bali and it's very close to most of Bali's main tourist areas. Kuta, Seminyak, Canggu and Tanah Lot are some of the popular spots located in the north of the airport, and Jimbaran, Nusa Dua, Benoa and Uluwatu are to the south of the airport. Their two terminals, the international and domestic terminals are right next to each other.
Ok, here are 10 quick tips on how you get through the airport as quickly as possible:
1. When you get off the plane it’s best to move quickly towards the arrivals hall. Depending on the time of day the lines can be pretty long with waiting times that can be longer than 1 hour.
2. Might sound silly but if you can, take a bathroom break on the plane before arrival, it’ll save you a lot of time as the airport’s bathrooms always have big lines, especially ladies rooms.
3. Make sure to complete your immigration arrival form on the plane. Sometimes there’s no more forms left in the arrivals hall, and definitely never any pens, so make sure you grab one from the flight attendant and have one ready and completed. You only need one form per family.
4. If you’re staying in Bali for less than 30 days, you don’t need a visa but if you planning on staying for more than 30 days, remember to head to the VOA Payment counter to Pay for your Visa on Arrival.
5. Keep your passports ready (remember it has to be valid 6 months valid, and have enough space for the sticker). Aside from your passport and filled-out arrival form, make sure to also have your boarding pass as it is required from the immigration officer to complete your entrance into Bali.
6. When you have passed through immigration go towards the conveyor belt to pick up your luggage (check the number on TV screens according to your flight number). Unfortunately, this airport is known for its slow baggage handling, so just be patient.
7. Once you have collected your luggage proceed to the customs line where you hand over your arrival form and will be directed either to the exit or towards the X-ray screening.
Make sure you do not bring more than IDR million 100,000,000 (7000 US$)
8. You’ll need some IDR to pay for the taxi so you can either withdraw money from the ATM located at the airport or there are also a couple of reputable money changers at the airport alongside the ATM’s. You can use these without any risk of being ripped off as they are completely trustworthy.
9. Transportation - As far as getting a taxi I would recommend organizing your transport beforehand. But you if haven’t done so you have couple options:
A). You will be confronted with a wall of taxi drivers all trying to catch your attention, the drivers can be very aggressive and persistent. You need to do some research on where you going and how much more or less the fare should be and than try to negotiate. Never agree on the first price, it’s always way too much. If it’s your first time in Bali, the experience can be nerve-racking, as I mentioned the drivers can be very abrasive. Again, it’s your first time and you don’t feel comfortable negotiation the price, just organize your taxi prior to your arrival.
B). If you don’t have a lot of luggage, you can just ignore all the local taxi drivers at the airport, walk outside the airport and order GRAB or GOJEK which is their version of UBER and it works the same exact way. The prices are way cheaper than the local taxis. Remember to download the app and register beforehand.
C). We haven’t used that option yet but there is a TAXI SERVICE counter at the airport. Metered and fixed fares are offered. Just remember to agree on a fare before getting into a taxi.
10. You can buy your sim card at the airport but you’ll usually pay about 3 times the price. I won’t get into details in this video about prices but if you want to get an Indonesian sim card right away I would recommend asking your taxi driver to stop at the legit phone store and purchase it there versus buying it at the airport.
I think that’s all the tips I have for you guys regarding the airport. Hope this will make your arrival into Bali a little easier. If you have some additional tips please share them in the comments below. Safe travels guys!

Bali LUXURY BEACH RESORT - Full Tour and Review of Sofitel Hotel in Bali, Indonesia!

NOTE: I did some hosting work for Accor Hotels at Sofitel, and they invited my wife and I to stay for a few extra nights. So I didn't pay for my stay, but I wasn't required in any way to make this video. I made it because I wanted to.
September 2017
Sofitel is one of the well known beach resorts in Nusa Dua, Bali. They hooked us up with a very nice room with direct access to the swimming pool - which is probably one of the coolest features of the hotel. The service was great, and I think the breakfast buffet was excellent. It's a laid back place to stay in Bali, so laid back and relaxing, that my wife and I barely even wanted to go anywhere when we were staying there. Sofitel in Bali is the type of resort where you can just stay the entire day, relaxing, and swimming and not go anywhere.
As for the beach, it's not the most amazing beach. The views are fantastic, but for actually beach swimming, it's not the best you'll see. Also another drawback I found is that Nusa Dua is kind of a secluded resort area in Bali. So in order to get our of the resort area you need to take a taxi, you can't just walk out and find street food.
Again, I didn't pay, but I searched and found that this room sometimes goes for around $400, however it could fluctuate quite a bit by season - and I was there in high season.
Thank you to Sofitel Nusa Dua Bali for hosting my family in Bali. We had an amazing stay.

Bali Collection (Nusa Dua) - RUDE & THREATENING STAFF
Bali Collection Shopping Centre staff stopped our car, threatened us, tried to beat up our driver and almost dragged us out of our hotel car because they thought we were using an Uber car as opposed to their mall taxis. They then forced us to use their mall taxi that charged us 300k and dropped us a few hundred meters from the mall so we could get back into our hotel car. All of this happened in front of their mall security who probably see it happen many times a day.
AVOID Bali Collection Shopping Centre, Nusa Dua!! Their mall taxi staff is CRAZY and VIOLENT and foreign tourists deserve better. According to a TripAdvisor, they even threatened to shoot a customer when she refused to get off her Uber.
