We left Ubud at 2am drove a couple hours then hiked up Mount Batur for sunrise. Mount Batur is an active Volcano with it's last eruption in 2000. Spectacular sunrise and fun had by all. We opted for our guide to take us off the main crater rim to the site of the year 2000 eruption, this was a much quieter route. Pretty exhausted by the time we got back to Ubud.

Trekking Volcán Batur
El volcán Batur está situado en la zona noreste de la isla de Bali, la ruta empezará sobre las cuatro de la mañana y dura unas 5 horas, con guías locales que reunirán uno o dos grupos grandes y os explicarán todo lo que significa este monte sagrado para los balineses.
Actualmente el precio de la visita a las termas, Tegallalang y el templo Kintamani tiene un coste extra de 5€/persona, así que si eliges hacer solo trekking el precio son 55€/persona, si le añades una visita extra serían 60€/persona.
Snorkel
Hacer snorkel es una de los grandes atractivos de Bali, sus aguas cristalinas y la abundante fauna marina hace esta experiencia casi imprescindible cuando se visita la isla. TIPS MENDAKI GUNUNG BATUR
Pendakian Gunung Batur biasanya mulai sekitar jam 4 pagi dan waktu yang diperlukan untuk mencapai puncak kira-kira 1,5 jam, dan setiap pemandu biasanya menangai/handle 2 hingga 5 orang pendaki.
Menurut Himpunan Pramuwisata Pendakian Gunung Batur (HP2GB) pun sebagai himpunan pemandu Gunung Batur, sangat menyarankan untuk setiap turis yang mendaki gunung agar menggunakan jasa pemandu.
Ini semata-mata utuk keselamatan pendaki walau masih banyak juga yang masih nekat mendaki sendiri, tanpa jasa pemandu. Mereka biasanya mengabaikan unsur keselamatan sendiri.

A Bali volcano can be a sightseeing highlight on your next trip to Bali's highland region. The Kintamani volcano or Mount Batur, in particular, is a very popular trek. The captivating Mount Batur surrounds the 13-square kilometre Batur caldera lake. Those with a penchant for adventure can take a winding road down to the lake shore. This leads you to Toya Bungkah, Ulun Danu Batur temple, and a collection of hot springs.
The Kintamani area consists of three main villages, namely Penelokan, Batur, and Kintamani. There are also some old Balinese villages around Batur Lake, often referred to as Bali Aga villages. Penelokan is a popular stopover. It serves as a vantage point at the southernmost part of the crater rim. From here, you can enjoy the sweeping views over the magnificent Bali volcano.

Mount Batur (Gunung Batur) is an active volcano located at the center of two concentric calderas north west of Mount Agung on the island of Bali, Indonesia. The south east side of the larger 10×13 km caldera contains a caldera lake. The inner 7.5-kilometer-wide caldera, which was formed during emplacement of the Bali (or Ubud) ignimbrite, has been dated at about 23,670 and 28,500 years ago.

CLIMBING AN ACTIVE VOLCANO: Hiking Mount Batur for sunrise in Bali, Indonesia
To satisfy our craving for adventure and to check-off an item from our travel bucket-list, we decided to wake-up at 2 AM to hike up an active Volcano (Mount Batur) to witness a scenic sunrise. Gunung Batur. The allure of hiking up Mount Batur, an active volcano, had us out of bed at 2 AM to reach the summit - an impressive 5,630 feet. We made it to the top. The physically demanding hike was totally worth it the moment we witnessed an unforgettable sunrise. The views were simply stunning.

Our attention quickly shifted to the cheeky monkeys begging for food, playing and wandering around the area where all of the hikers were clustered.
It is not everyday that you get to climb an active volcano. It was totally worth the long climb up.
Before we made our way back down we spent time enjoying the scenery and taking plenty of photos.
If you're planning on trekking ensure that you wear proper footwear to counter the sharp volcanic rock. There are plenty of loose rocks and shale and we almost slipped a few times.
Overall, we'd recommend the hike for those who are physically fit and adventurous.
