SOLO BALI TRAVEL: Uluwatu, Bingin Beach for a week
I spent a week in Uluwatus Bingin Beach.
Sinar Sari is a relatively cheap place to stay (obv not as cheap as hostels), super close walk to the beach and BTC bali training centre.
I recommend you keep cash on you ALWAYS - alot of sights and cliffs are gated by locals who charge a fee (only like 20 cents to a dollar).
Also dont lose your travel card because its almost impossible to get money any other way - my parents couldnt even send me money! Thank god i met a friend who so generously gave me money for food and my airport cab ride. I couldnt even afford food or water by the last day!

Understanding Balinese Dance
From the Global Village Travel Guide
New HD program and Bali stock footage:
Transcript:
Peliatan, just to the south of Ubud, is an important center for dance. Nowhere else in Bali is so much energy concentrated on this form of expression. In addition to performing the traditional dances, to meet the needs of their community, dancers from Peliatan interpret the art form for visitors.
Balinese Dance, Drama, and Music blend in a rich unity, and flavor the entire experience of life with an artistic and creative grace.
Magic exists in the relationship between the dancer and the musicians. They cooperate to entertain the Gods and the seriousness of this undertaking inspires a level of performance seldom achieved elsewhere.
Each musical accent is reflected by and personified in the movement of
the dancer. These movements are, in fact, a highly refined language, with
strictly defined grammer and rules.
The positions and movements of each body element are named and defined.
For the movements of feet and legs there are 30 names, for those of the arms, 16 names. For hands and fingers, 19 names; for the trunk , 14;
For neck and shoulder movements, 20 names, and for facial expressions, at least 16.
Each term defines a specific element of a rich and expressive language
through which musician and dancer make visable the drama they're
performing. The orchestra, known as a Gamelon, is often said to lead the dancers. But then, the most skilled dancers are said to lead the musicians.
What is apparent is the harmony between them.
BALINESE DANCE: THE LEGONG
The LEGONG is the most famous, demanding, and feminine of the Bali
dance styles. Performers are young girls, usually pre-teen, who begin
their training at a tender age. It's during early youth that suppleness and devoted attention are great enough to master these difficult forms.
By their mid-teens, these Legong dancers will be forced into retirement.... perhaps to teach the next generation or to participate in other dance forms.
The movements of the dancers are highly stylized, as are the movements of the Wayang Kulit puppets, and leave the casual visitor bewildered.
To the Balinese, however, they are as familiar as I LOVE LUCY. and have been re-run for far longer.
BALINESE DANCE: THE TOPENG
An important element of Balinese dance is the ceremonial mask...... a window into the world of the spirit portrayed by the dancer.
The Topeng dance is an important form of entertainment, as well as ritual for temple ceremonies. Tales of kings and warriors from Bali's history are enacted. Sometimes serious, other times slap-stick, earthy, and humorous.
Topeng clowns wear a half mask and speak their part . Other players wear full masks and expess themselves through pantomime.
Older men most usually act in the Topeng. Sometimes, one man plays all the characters, changing masks with each role.
In preparation for this dance, the Topeng enacts an ancient ritual. In a small booth to the rear of the dance area, the dancer readies himself with prayer.. When the dance is to begin, the dancer ceases his meditation and carefully dons the mask. His preparations have readied him for entering the requisite trance state. First dancing alone in the booth until he feels the spirit of the mask enter him he then comes out deeply immersed in the character induced by the mask

BALI TRAVEL TIPS
1. BASICS
- Bring USD as mych as possible. Exchange money in the airport for your transport only going to hotel. There are money changer everywhere with good exchange rate (Avoid exchange money in Legian). Money in Bali is confusing because of zeros. Always count your money carefully
- Aiport taxi is expensive (900 to 1,000 pesos). Get a grab, walk and pick up taxi outside or ride a habal-habal few walk from the airport exit (Do the bargain for the rates)
- Do not buy sim card in the airport, it's half the price from the local stores but carefully check the mobile data inclusion (Some mobile data Sim is only limited to some app like FB, instagram, etc.)
- People in Bali can speak english and they are very approachable
- Good to have a money converter app on your phone to check the PHP equivalent of all your expenses to know if cheap or not
- Dont drink water everywhere. Bring distilled bottled water with you
- Take care of all your personal documents ALWAYS!!!
2. TOUR
- Arrange cars in Bali do not take Taxi for tour (Sometimes it has special fragrance)
- Roaming around Bali will make you sweat everytime. Always bring towel and extra shirt/s
- Allot 1 day to explore Seminyak, Kuta and Uluwatu (Kecak dance is highly recommended, to feel the mala-Maze runner movie set, go to GWK cultural park)
- Allot 1 day to explore Nusa Penida (Highly recommended - Get the island and island hopping special package. It's a must!)
- Allot 1 day to explore ubud (See great views, temple and experience more Balinese culture)
- Temples are most likely similar, choose only the best temples that you want to visit
- Always start your tour as early as 6am
Missed: Capuhan Ridge, Ubud
Missed: Surfing in Padang Padang and Kuta
3. WHERE TO STAY
- Puri dewa bharata hotel is highly recommended if you're going to stay in bali. Cheap accommodation and extra person w bfast. Balinese inspired hotel and rooms. Workers are accommodating and approachable
- Puri Sebatu is highly recommended in Ubud. Workers are very accommodating also and hotel is extremely amazing (Shout out to Mega the waitress). Every day they have free shuttle going to ubud. Take a trip and buy some foods because foods in the restaurant is really expensive (average food per meal is 400 PHP). Don't forget to give tip to the driver
- Both of them usually offer free coffee during afternoon (Around 3pm to 5pm)
- You can book directly to their website or through Agoda/Booking (Always check the ratings and reviews. Do your own research first)
4. PASALUBONG
- Ubud market is a bit expensive, if you buy pasalubong, you can all buy it in Holy spring temple (Bargain for lower price - lowest price that you can offer)
- If you will not go to holy spring, there are lots of Pasalubong center in Kuta and Seminyak (Bargain for the lowest price)
- If you want Bali coffee, you can buy it in the convinience store (Lot cheaper)
- Vendors are really makukulit, you should learn how to say NO without offending them ????
5. EAT
- Satey ayam selling on the street is highly recommended and a must try
- Nasi goreng and Mi goreng is a must try
- Halal foods are everywhere. If conscious about it, do you own check before eating
- If touring Ubud, ask your driver where to take your lunch, restaurant with cheap but good food and view
Missed: Jimaran, Kuta - Best to eat seafoods with sunset view
6. TO BRING
- Always bring insect repellant
- Bring meds for LBM, headache, dizziness and hyper acidity
- Always bring water wherever you go
- Sun block
7. NIGHT LIFE/DRINKS
- Alcohol in Bali is a bit expensive. I recommend to bring your own drink (not more than 1 liter) and must be packed well on your checked in baggage
Missed: Kuta beach bars
8. OTHERS
- If your travelling around March 16, you will witness the Ogoh-ogoh festival (Similar to Halloween). During this day, all electricity are shut down and no tours will be provided
- For rice fields, Feb to Mar is their planting period. Harvest period is around June to July (Best to see Tagalalang rice fields within that period)

FAQ:
How much it may cost for return flight from Dhaka to Bali?
- Mostly near around 30 thousand per head for return air. Some time discount happens (we got discount from Malindo Air & return cost was only 22k that time).
How much travel may cost in Bali per day?
- Per Day Hotels you will get within BDT 1500 to 2000 (20 USD) for 2 person 1 room. Food per day per head may cost 1000 BDT (10 USD). Other per day per head may cost 1000 BDT too (local trip transport, entrance or other ticket etc.). So, in average, better you keep per day expense 4000 BDT (around 50 USD). It will be enough. Now you plan, how many days you want to stay in Bali/Gili.
AIR
We visited Bali by getting a discount in Malindo Air @ 22k BDT per head return air. Offer not valid now. A transit was there in Kuala Lumpur.
HOTEL
You must choose a hotel in Kuta Square @ Bali. We always prefer Agoda for Hotel Booking:
I was there for 10 days and I tried different hotels. All booked by Agoda using credit card from BD. Take one room for 2 person only. Here is my ranking for my hotels:
1. Suris Boutique Hotel (Nice Pool View Room, Free Buffet Breakfast, Nice Swimming Pool, But 5min Walking Distance from Kuta Sea Beach) @ 2000+ BDT Per Day:
Suris Hotel, Kuta Square, Bali @ Agoda:
2. Hotel Karthi (Big Pool, 2min Walk to Kuta Sea Beach, Free Buffet Breakfast, General Room) @ 2000 BDT
Book Hotel Karthi, Kuta Square, Bali @ Agoda:
3. The Oasis Kuta Hotel (Big Pool, Nice Room, 2min Walk to Kuta Sea Beach, Narrow Entrance) @ 2000 BDT
The Oasis Kuta Hotel, Kuta Square, Bali @ Agoda:
SIGHT SEEING
Book a car from your hotel (more safe) or from a car service provider. Maximum 2 half days (9am to 4pm) car trip is enough to cover all. must visit:
Tegenungan Water Fall (Keep Swimming Dresses with you, nice place to enjoy water fall)
Mount Batur Volcano (Have a Mango Drink There @ 200 BDT Only, Buffet Lunch is expensive there)
Ubud Rice Field (Do Lunch Here, It's Cheap & Great View too)
Uluwatu Temple (Amazing Sea & Hill View) & Must Try Nearest
Padang Padang Hidden Sea Beach too. You may swimm there in clear water.
FOODS
Try international chain foods like KFC/McD/Burger King/A&W etc. Cheap enough. Per Head may cost 300 BDT per meal. Mostly halal.
Very expensive, if you are planning Indian Foods (available near Kuta Square). Per Head may cost 500 to 800 BDT per meal.
GILI ISLAND
Our BTF team was in Bali for only 5 days. Within this time, stay Gili for one day only (go today morning, come back tomm morning). That will be fine. Book fast boat including up down transport from hotel to port (it is in far). Must book return fast boat ticket all together. Talk to your hotel (more safe) or try outside to book. Foods are cheap in Gili. Must try night market & sea food. It is a small island, no cars, only horse ride and by-cycles. Try it. Do not miss to hire a group boat ride to enjoy under water activities (make sure life jacket and safety). You may live in any part of the island as it is small. Hotel prices are same like Bali. I was in a nice banglow Bale Sasak with a swimming pool & free breakfast, all only @ 1500 BDT.
Bale Sasak, Lombok, Gili Indonesia @ Agoda:
SHOPPING
Buy from local shops. Cheap. Other shopping malls are expensive. Must visit 3 shopping malls near Kuta Square:
- Discovery Mall (Visit Both Side, Road Side & Sea Beach Side, In & Out. 5min Walk from Kuta Square)
- BeachWalk Shopping Mall (Excellent Market to Visit & To Watch Cinema)
- Lippo Mall (Cheap Foods at underground, Enjoy Cinema)
@ Afternoon, there are some nice beach side cafe with pool in Kuta Sea Beach, enjoy fresh juice there (@About 200 BDT) with your family. For any more query, feel free to ask. Check our all Bali videos for more detail.
