London Travels To Dopney, Wales, United Kingdom Part 1 Of 9
Is Wales a part of the UK?
The governments of the United Kingdom and of Wales almost invariably define Wales as a country. The Welsh Government says: Wales is not a Principality. Although we are joined with England by land, and we are part of Great Britain, Wales is a country in its own right.
Wales Population 2019
Wales is a country that is a part of the countries in the United Kingdom with population over 3.1 million. It shares border with England at the east. The north and west borders the Irish sea and the south of the country borders the Bristol channel. Presently, Wales is referred to as one of the Celtic countries. The national identity of the country arose within the Celtic Britons when the Roman withdraw from Britain in the fifth century. Initially, Wales joined with England and the laws of England are used in Wales.
In 2011, the population of Wales is approximately 3,063,456 it covers an area of 20,779 sq.km. The country is located in the north temperature region. During the period of industrial revolution, Wales changed from a farming country and started building mining and metallurgical companies.
Presently, the economy if the nation depends largely in tourism, providing services and publicly owned industries. A large percentage of the population resides in south Wales majorly in the area of Swansea, Cardiff and Newport.
Based on our research, Wales population will reach 3,205,362 by 1st July of 2019. We use first day of July each year due to Office for National Statistics (ONS) normally publishes the estimated population data for the same period. The calculation is based on the average growth rate of 0.57% over last 8 years since 2011. We believe using the recent years’ figures (see the table in next section) will make the estimation more accurate.
Population Growth of Wales
Considering the population of Wales in the last eight years, the percentage of growth is slow but consistent. The percentage growth ranges from 0.32% to 0.96% adding around 10,000 to 30,000 people to the population every year.

Sport Wales has published a strategy for community sport in Wales -- designed to challenge the sports sector to up the ante in increasing the number of people across the nation playing sport.
Chair of Sport Wales, Professor Laura McAllister was joined at the launch by Sports Minister, Huw Lewis to announce the news that Sport Wales is to invest a further £9million National Lottery funding into community sport over the next three years. In total this means that Sport Wales will be injecting a total of almost £32m a year into community sport in Wales.

National Eisteddfod of Wales 2016 Proclamation Ceremony at Caldicot Castle 27 6 15 DSCN4336
Many say that the Eisteddfod Proclamation Festival is a taste of things to come next year as the Gorsedd of the Bards lead a procession through a local town to celebrate the fact that there’s only a year to go before the National Eisteddfod is held in the area.
And the people of Caldicot and the rest of Monmouthshire and the surrounding area will have their chance to savour some of the pomp and ceremony of the National Eisteddfod on Saturday 27 June this year as the town’s castle plays host to the welcoming ceremony for the 2016 Eisteddfod, which will be held on the outskirts of Abergavenny from 29 July – 6 August next year.
Local performers and schools will perform on two stages on Newport Road in the centre of town during the day with an emphasis on music and dance. Slots for these stages have all been filled and details are included below. A procession of local dignitaries and the Gorsedd of the Bards will leave the centre of town shortly after 14.00 for the procession to the castle grounds. The aim of the procession is to show the welcome and the enthusiasm which exists locally for the Eisteddfod and it’s also the chance for the Eisteddfod to look forward to its visit to the area.
Once in the castle grounds, the Proclamation Ceremony itself will take place, at which the Chair of the local Executive will present the first copy of the List of Competitions to the Archdruid. Monmouthshire County Council have arranged simultaneous translation at the event and information leaflets will be available to find out more about the ceremony and what’s going on.
Local Executive Chair, Frank Olding said, “We’re all looking forward to the Proclamation immensely. What better place to hold such a symbolic event than in the beautiful grounds of Caldicot Castle. On behalf of everyone involved with the Eisteddfod, I’d like to thank all the perfomers and the schools for their enthusiasm in getting involved in the day, and I’m looking forward to seeing so many local talents on show.
“The Proclamation is just a taste of the Eisteddfod, and the festival itself will offer something for every one of all ages. It’s a celebration of the Welsh language and all our culture, which includes all kinds of music, visual arts, science and technology, dance, literature, folk, drama and so much more.
“The Eisteddfod is known as one of the world’s greatest cultural festivals, and I hope people from all parts of Monmouthshire, Wales and beyond will flock to Abergavenny in just over a year’s time. We can’t wait to see you there!”
Activities on the performance stages start at 10.00 and details are below:

Announcements will be made via social media, the Eisteddfod website and local media if this takes place. The intention is for the performances to take place on the stage regardless of the weather.
The Monmouthshire and District National Eisteddfod is held on the outskirts of Abergavenny from 29 July – 6 August next year. For more information go to eisteddfod.org.uk.

Today is a social day for Izzy. We're off to Cardiff for the day, firstly to meet up with one of Izzy's friends for lunch and then off to a class afterwards. Imo has another opportunity to stroll around Cardiff centre. She grabs a bit of lunch and a coffee, laments the downfall of Thomas Cook and goes in pursuit of a maths book she has been recommended by a fellow home-educator friend (details below).
