Carnlough Antrim Fishing Village - Carnlough Harbour - NI
Carnlough and Carnlough Harbour is an area of outstanding beauty nestled in amongst the Glens of Antrim - at the foot of Glencloy -
and the North Channel on the well travelled Coast Road.
Carnlough is actually a beautiful small fishing village that is located in county Antrim, Northern Ireland, and this Carnlough Harbour is part of it, on the shores of Carnlough Bay.
Carnlough Harbour was built by the owners of the quarries west of the village, which were connected to the harbour by means of a mineral tramway network, which include a bridge over each of two parallel streets in the village. Most of the old things that are built in any country out there are renovated and that is exactly the same that happened with Carnlough Harbour; it has been renovated recently and is now used by pleasure boats and small fishing boats.
Carnlough Harbour is now considered the focal point for the whole village, that is why it might be attracting lots of people - especially the local Irish ones - to it because they already now what they are going to see and experience at this place. This area offers many opportunities for both sea angling and fresh water angling.
If you intended to come to Carnlough Harbour by boat before and you are not from the village, you might have heard that it is difficult to find a place because it is usually full of local boats.
Carnlough Harbour is situated at the northern end of Carnlough Bay between Garren Point and Park Head. Visiting the place in general has its own different feeling and it is of course one experience which you will fall in love with for the weather and the calmness of the view; if you are coming from afar, there is also the famous Londonderry Arms Hotel which is just in front of the harbour and which you could stay at.
Being in Carnlough Village itself means that there are different attractions which one could actually see and check in addition to Carnlough Harbour - which we have to say is the most famous there. The options from the places that one could choose, there is the Glenarm Castle, the Red Bay Castle, Cranny Falls, Ardclinis Church, Carnlough Library, St. John the Evangelist, and the Hidden Village of Galboly. People always think that because Carnlough is a small village, it might not have what people could visit and know more about, but it has and might even grab the attention so easily.
In addition to those attractions and destinations which one could head out to in order to check in Carnlough Village, one should also think about the activities or those things which could be done apart from sightseeing. One of the examples which we have include taking the Carnlough Bay boat tours which will provide you with a new experience, or else going to the Glenarm forest and have a walk inside the place and experience it all.
Carnlough is situated in Ballymena and that brings another journey which people could think about - you could jump from one village to the other to check what it has there, but which will definitely depend on the number of days you are taking to enjoy your vacation.
In Ballymena, there are some important places to be mentioned, such as the Cushendun Caves which are situated in Cushendun ( and which also appeared in Game of Thrones movie series - just like Carnlough - and which is one of those which we have been to before.
Carnlough Harbour appeared in Game of Thrones movie series which is filmed in different locations all around Northern Ireland, even some of the 10 doors that appeared in the movie are found in Northern Ireland as well and if we are referring to Ballymena then door number 8 is found in Mary McBride's Bar which is found in Cushendun, Ballymena; so there is always something to explore in every part of Northern Ireland.
The trip we had to visit Carnlough Harbour was an interesting one, we didn't manage to visit any other touristic destinations in Carnlough Village but we loved walking by the water, sitting there just watching the boats, and at the same time enjoying the breeze and the atmosphere of the whole place.
If you are going on a tour regarding the locations that are part of Game of Thrones then visiting the Carnlough Harbour is a must, and if you are generally searching for a new and different location which you might visit in Northern Ireland then this is also an option - but it will definitely depend on your current location and the place you are staying at during your visit.
If you have already been to the Carnlough Harbour before then share with us your experience and tell us about the things you loved the most about the place. If you have never been there before then this is the right time to head to this peaceful place and see it in real and you will not lose if you also headed to some of the attractions there as well.

The Grey Lady of Dryburgh Abbey | Bereaved Spirit amongst the Ruins
Welcome to my channel, here you'll find videos dedicated to preserving the myths, legends, culture, and heritage of the British Isles. This is a fairly unknown story surrounding the Grey Lady of Dryburgh Abbey Hotel. A bereaved woman that saw her lover hanged and has since haunted the grounds of the Hotel and the Abbey. The Abbey is also the burial place of Sir Walter Scott and Field Marshall Haig.

How to Explore the Causeway Coastal Route
Hold tight – we're about to embark on an epic journey along the coast of Northern Ireland. This is the Causeway Coastal Route, a 4-day itinerary that will bring you to majestic cliff-top castles, sea bridges swaying high above the ocean and a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Here's a few facts about the Causeway Coastal Route:
– The Giant’s Causeway was formed over 60 million years ago, when molten lava from the earth’s core came into contact with the sea, crystallising into the 40,000 hexagonal basalt pillars we recognise today.
– The Cushendun Caves were used as a filming location for HBO’s Game of Thrones®. You’ll recognise them from the scene where Melisandre gave birth to a shadowy creature that would eventually kill Renly Baratheon.
– Rathlin Island is the most northerly inhabited island in Ireland – it’s also home to colonies of seabirds, and a curious ‘upside-down’ lighthouse that glows red at night.
– Overlooking Downhill Beach, Mussenden Temple was once used as a private library. It’s modelled after the Temple of Vesta in Tivoli, Italy. Oh, and did we mention they carry out wedding ceremonies here?
– Leading to Carrick Island, the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge was initially set up by salmon fishermen who wanted to make use of the abundant waters around the rocky outcrop.

Born Ted Horowitz, Popa Chubby is a true native son of the Big Apple.
He was born in 1960 in the Bronx. His parents owned a candy store on the corner of 181st Street and Arthur Avenue. His early memories of hearing the juke box playing the hits of early sixties soul and R&B made a lasting impression on him.
During the 1970's, Popa began to hear the blues rock that was everywhere. Johnny Winter, Foghat, Led Zepplin and the Rolling Stones were on the radio and in the record stores and Popa listened to these records over and over on a beat up record player
At age sixteen he picked up his first guitar. In the late 70's Punk Rock hit the scene, and Popa answered a classified ad in the Village Voice for a guitarist. He was hired by Japanese performance/special effects artist, Screaming Mad George, and played a fortuitous gig at CBGB in New York City's Bowery. There he met Punk Rock godfather, Richard Hell, who was putting together a new version of his band the Voidoids. Popa was hired for a world tour. All the while Popa was honing his licks via the records of Albert, B.B. and especially Freddie King.
In 1984, while busking in New York's Central Park, he met singer-songwriter Pierce Turner who had just signed with RCA Records. Pierce and Chubby shared a love for Otis Redding and Jimi Hendrix. Chubby was hired for a world tour and asked to contribute his blues-inflected guitar playing to Pierce's album The Sky and The Ground. Popa worked with Pierce throughout the late 80's, all the while itching to play the blues he loved.
In 1990 the Popa Chubby Band was born. The name was taken from an impromptu jam with Bernie Worell, one of the founding members of '70s psychedelic rock and R&B group Parliament-Funkadelic. He was singing a song called 'Popa Chubby' and he pointed at me. The name captured the essence of what his music has come to represent. Popa Chubby basically means to get excited. The core of my music is about excitement. I think music should make people feel alive.
Popa Chubby's latest CD on Provogue Record at the time of the filming is 'THE FIGHT IS ON'.

Cultra Manor - Part of The Ulster Folk and Transport Museum
The Ulster Folk and Transport Museum is one of the different museums in Northern Ireland that gives visitors the chance to experience the life in the country town back more than 100 years ago and at the same time experience one of Europe's most comprehensive transport collection (
Like entering into a huge village where there are different things to see and do, Ulster Folk and Transport Museum is exactly the same, there are different things for the visitors to see and other museums which are also found inside but ending up being all in the same place, and that is exactly the case with the Cultra Manor which is also located there.
One of the different buildings which are situated in this museum and considered part of the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum is the Cultra Manor building which is now used for different events and some people even book their wedding at it to make something more royal and different.
Cultra Manor is located in county Down, Northern Ireland, and it was originally built as a large plain house with a central bow and a battlemented parapet, the front of this manor has projected pedimented ends that is joined by balustraded Ionic Parapet; the right hand projecting forth as a porch. Inside the Cultra Manor, there is a long, two-storey service wing which are joined to the main block by a wing.
This manor was owned back in time by Sir Robert Kennedy who retired to it in 1912 after he built it in 1902. The Kennedy's family former home was the Cultra House which had passed out of their ownership in the 1870s. Sir Robert and his wife Lady Kennedy died within few months from one another and left the property for their four daughters. After the World War II, the family found out that the maintenance of the house would cost them a lot of money and thus another smaller neo-Georgian house was built for them in the same grounds.
The manor house and the pleasure gardens were then sold to the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum in 1961 and a conversion of the building was undertaken by Robert McKinstry in association with Ian Campbell. This led to the transformation of the place from the inside which included re-allocating the main rooms as exhibition areas, the servants' quarters as workshops and library and extending the garage for use as an administration block.
In 2010, there was a huge sum of money spent on Cultra Manor in order to transport it to what we tend to see today and make it more able to accept those events which are held in it and the weddings which people might be looking forward to make at. One of the events which is held in the Cultra Manor is the Limited Edition Afternoon Teas which is something special about the Edwardian ritual of afternoon tea that is held at specific time of the year in April and May, and which bring back the afternoon tea of the old times and let people experience the history of the Kennedy's family.
One of the things making Cultra Manor famous these days is the fact that it is now being used as a wedding and other events' location in Holywood, Belfast, Northern Ireland. One of the things differentiating this manor is that it provide those staying at it with the best views across Belfast Lough. In addition to the view, it give those taking the place for a wedding the chance to enjoy it all day and night and those who want the place for specific events, it gives them the chance to choose between different rooms.
Cultra Manor is becoming a popular wedding venue in Northern Ireland - especially for couples seeking something a little different. Weddings can also use the Folk park itself - along with the manor house for an extra special day.
Ulster Folk and Transport Museum is one of the famous attractions that are usually visited in county Down in Northern Ireland and since this Cultra Manor is not much of a place for people to visit, it is still located inside and carries a good amount of history that people could know about while watching it all from the outside (
County Down could attract the visitors with different other locations, we have been to some of them and could list a few: Newcastle ( Banbridge ( Dundrum Castle ( Scrabo Tower in Newtownards ( Mount Stewart and Gardens ( and many other things which will differ according to the area that one will be travelling to and staying at.
If you are searching for a place to make an event at a different place or hoping for a royal kind of wedding then Cultra Manor is the place for you, and for tourists, you should check it as well if you are there.

2003 BELFAST QUEEN'S UNIVERSITY DRUMBEG NORTHERN IRELAND
FROM WHEELCHAIR NOMAD DIARY... NI 2003 As we approached Belfast, I lectured Richard. Belfast has about a half million people and is capital of Ulster, or Northern Ireland which is British and mainly Protestant. It uses the British Pound and Northern Irish Pound for currency. Erie or Southern Ireland is an independent and largely Catholic country with a couple of million people but we wont visit there now. In Ulster, there was extreme sectarian violence between Protestants and Catholics, but a peace process has terminated the bombings and shootings. Well be visiting the Dunlops. (Robert Dunlop, with family 1956, letter 1966) On landing, we were unloaded by a lift as the air bridge failed to work, and we were assisted with our luggage to the Hertz car rental. Youve reserved your car at the Belfast International Airport, twenty kilometres from here, not at the Belfast Harbour Airport, I was told. Ok, I said, What can you do to help me? Hertz cancelled the other reservation and rented me a new Volvo S60 diesel, like Lilys, my wifes car with leather upholstery. Richard drove us down a freeway to the City Centre, identified by the Belfast City Hall, and I directed Richard up Malone Street, passed Queens University to Queens Elms Residences.

Places to see in ( Campbeltown - UK )
Places to see in ( Campbeltown - UK )
Campbeltown; is a town and former royal burgh in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. It lies by Campbeltown Loch on the Kintyre peninsula. Originally known as Kinlochkilkerran (an anglicization of the Gaelic, which means head of the loch by the kirk of Ciarán), it was renamed in the 17th century as Campbell's Town after Archibald Campbell (Earl of Argyle) was granted the site in 1667. Campbeltown became an important centre for shipbuilding and Scotch whisky, and a busy fishing port.
There are several listed buildings in Category A in the town and include the following. Campbeltown boasts a museum and a heritage centre. The museum has a varied collection of items from Campbeltown's past, and prehistoric items excavated from sites around Kintyre, such as axeheads, jewellery and combs. The 19th century building, by John James Burnet, also houses a library and has plaques or exhibits related to famous Kintyre people: for example, William McTaggart and William Mackinnon. Near the museum is the cinema known as the Wee Picture House, a small but distinctive Art Nouveau building of the Glasgow School dating from 1913 and believed to be the oldest surviving purpose-built cinema in Scotland. These buildings are on the waterfront, as is a 14th-century Celtic cross that also served as a mercat cross.
St Kieran (Ciarán of Clonmacnoise) lived in this area before the town existed. A cave named after him can be visited at low tide, as can the cave on nearby Davaar Island where pilgrims and tourists go to see a 19th-century crucifixion painting. Campbeltown also hosts the annual Mull Of Kintyre Music Festival, which has seen acts ranging from up-and-coming local bands to well-established groups such as Deacon Blue, The Stranglers and Idlewild perform.
A recent addition has been the Kintyre Songwriters Festival, a fairly low key annual gathering aimed at promoting the wealth and variety of original music across the area. The festival is held during the last weekend of May and is open to anyone interested in performing. On Friday 16 June 2006, First Minister Jack McConnell flew to Campbeltown to officially open Campbeltown's new 'Aqualibrium' Centre. Aqualibrium, designed by PagePark Architects, replaced the old Campbeltown swimming pool, which closed 7 years ago due to safety concerns; the centre houses Campbeltown's library (with the old building being the museum only), swimming pool, gym, conference centre and 'Mussel Ebb' Cafe. The Kintyre Camanachd are a local shinty team that belongs to the Camanachd Association.
Campbeltown Airport is near the town, and has a scheduled service to/from Glasgow International Airport on weekdays and some summer Sundays. The town is the westernmost town in the island of Great Britain (if the port of Mallaig is not counted as a town). It has the population of a large village, but lays claim to its town status based on its port and its central close grid of streets. Its position near the end of a long peninsula makes for a time-consuming road journey, and to some extent the area relies on sea and air transport, like the Inner Hebrides. However it is linked to the rest of Scotland by the A83 (to Tarbet) and A82 (from Tarbet to Glasgow). Bus service is provided by West Coast Motors.
Campbeltown was linked to Machrihanish by a canal (1794-mid-1880s) that was superseded by the Campbeltown and Machrihanish Light Railway, which closed in 1932. The railway, which was originally built to serve the Machrihanish Coalfield, ran from Campbeltown railway station to Machrihanish railway station.
( Campbeltown - UK ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting the city of Campbeltown . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Campbeltown - UK

Invention of radio
Many people were involved in the invention of radio in its current form. Experimental work on the connection between electricity and magnetism began around 1820 with the work of Hans Christian Ørsted, and continued with the work of André-Marie Ampère, Joseph Henry, and Michael Faraday. These investigations culminated in a theory of electromagnetism developed by James Clerk Maxwell, which predicted the existence of electromagnetic waves.
After Maxwell's theory was published, many people experimented with wireless communication, some intentionally using Maxwell's theory and some not. It is considered likely that the first intentional transmission of a signal by means of electromagnetic waves was performed by David Edward Hughes around 1880, although this was considered to be induction at the time. The first systematic and unequivocal transmission of EM waves was performed by Heinrich Rudolf Hertz and described in papers published in 1887 and 1890. Hertz famously considered these results as being of little practical value.

Saint Patrick's monument, Downpatrick
County Down has long been associated with Ireland’s patron Saint, Saint Patrick, whose presence is especially felt in the town of Downpatrick, which takes part of its name from the Saint. In Downpatrick, and County Down as a whole, you’ll find many instances of St. Patrick’s continued influence.
Saul
It is said that when St. Patrick first came to Ireland, he was swept off course and ended up at Saul in County Down. He managed to convert the local chieftain, Dichu, to Christianity and in return St. Patrick was given a barn where he could hold services. He is said to have either passed away in Saul or was brought here between his passing and his burial. Today, Saint Patrick’s Memorial Church stands where it is believed that the barn that became St. Patrick’s first church once stood. On the nearby Slieve Patrick hill, you’ll find a large granite statue depicting St. Patrick with scenes from his life displayed in bronze panels at the statue’s base.
Downpatrick
Not only is part of the town’s name derived from him but his influence can be seen throughout. Down Cathedral, in the town, is the fabled final resting place of the Saint and a place of pilgrimage for many on St. Patricks Day each year. The spot on which St. Patrick was buried is said to be marked by a large inscribed granite stone. The town is also home to The Saint Patrick Centre; the centre provides an in-depth look into the life and times of the Saint and how he came to be known the world over. The centre will give you the most detailed, as well as visual, look at Saint Patrick’s life found in any public exhibition throughout Ireland.
Newry
In recent year, Newry has become better known for its shopping than anything else. Nevertheless, Newry is home to Saint Patrick’s Church, which is believed to be the first ever protestant church to be built in Ireland. Newry’s cathedral is also officially named after the Saints Patrick and Colman.
Anyone planning a trip to Ireland to trace the roots of Saint Patrick will find most of what they're looking for here in County Down.
