Ballycotton Cliff Walk April 2016
As part of the Seafood & Shanty Ballycotton 2016 events, local history enthusiast Derry Keogh (one of our Ballycotton Island Lighthouse Tour guides) invited some culturally curious visitors on a tour of our famous Ballycotton Cliff Walk.
Derry (and guests) struck it lucky and enjoyed one of the very rare sunny days in April 2016 - Sat 9th!

I never walked on Ballycotton Cliff Walk but I decide to cycling.
Half way through I spotted sign ''No Mountain Bike '' but it was to late so I just keep moving forward. This walk for sure isn't design for the bikes because there is so many obstacles where you have to carry the bike. Overall is well worth it. Also it was quite late so not to many people on track. Is a shame that the walk is not design for cyclist.
A Love of Ireland - The Ballycotton Cliff Walk - Wild Atlantic Way
Ballycotton has a scenic cliff walk extending westward to Ballytrasna. The full walk is about 9 km. along a goat-track, with safety fencing where it is needed. Cycling and Horse Riding are prohibited. There is plenty of bench seating placed at the better viewing points. The walk provides excellent opportunities to take photographs of the cliffs and seascapes and is rich in wildlife at any time of the year. The cliff walk is used annually, in March, for a charity walk in support of the Children of Chernobyl. There is also a good chance of spotting Peregrine Falcons near the rocky inlets at dawn and dusk. Wildlife is plentiful in the area, with seals and dolphins being regular harbour visitors. Whales of various types can be seen from the cliffs in December and January.
Ballycotton Way (Cliff Walk)
On the Ballycotton Way (Cliff Walk) today the going was very tricky after all the wet weather of late. As is always the case with the Ballycotton Way a wonderful time was had by all.
