Balmore Golf Club - Glasgow's Hidden Gem
Photos of Balmore Golf Club - Glasgow's Hidden Gem - near Torrance, East Dunbartonshire, just 7 miles north of Glasgow. Part of Dumbartonshire Golf Union. Fantastic parkland course designed in 1907 by 6 time British Open Champion Harry Vardon on what was the Glenorchard Estate. Surrounded by some of the central belt's most beautiful countryside and farmland, Balmore is a haven of tranquility, particularly on a clear summer's evening, where you will come across deer, woodpecker, rabbits and buzzards. The USGA spec greens make the course playable all year round and especially good in summer. The 10 acre practice area is one of the biggest in Scotland and features a teeing area, pitching green and a USGA spec greens for chipping and bunker play - so you can practice everything from your driver to your lob wedge. Various membership packages are on offer to suit your budget, lifestyle or work commitments. Join today!

Hawthorn Street/Balmore Road Traffic lights
Video showing a safety issue with the right turn at the Hawthorn Street lights on Balmore Road. The vehicles coming from the opposite direction frequently go through the lights on amber and red causing the right turning traffic to be stranded in the junction with no choice other than to go through the red light to exit the junction. This means that vehicles entering the junction on a green light will end up going through a red light just to exit the junction. This happens every day and is especially problematic at rush hour.
Britain's Best Roads - The road with no name - Balmore to Dulsie (Part 2)
Passing between the Carn nan Tri-tighearnan and the Knock of Braemoray hills this particular road is a winding single-track lane that features spectacular views of the Scottish Highlands!
This is an uncut look at one of the roads we travelled down while on The Retro Lab's Scottish Adventure, which was a two thousand mile road trip around Scotland in which we continued our mission to find Britain's (and maybe even the world's) best driving roads, also visiting many castles and other points-of-interest along the way, but it didn't go quite how we had planned....

Caldwell HOLE 8 The Wolf
A story from a warm summers evening at Caldwell Golf Club.
My thanks to Sean Burns and Alistair McNaughton for their help and laughter when shooting this video and to my son Greg for his expertise.
Golf is fun and young people in particular should be encouraged to play as often as possible.
This was just a small project to pass my time, just for the fun of it. If it twangs the imagination of just one youngster, it would be worth every minutes effort. They might just be intrigued enough to come and see if they can spot the wolf at Caldwell. If this does in any way, please let me know.
