Vigan Ilocos Sur / Baluarte Zoo / Heritage Village Ilocos Tour Series 7

Vigan City Ilocos Sur is one of the oldest towns in the Philippines, and it voted as one of the new 7 wonder cities in the world. During our recent visit, we walk down along Calle Crisolog (Heritage Village) - a cobble-stoned stret in Vigan with Spanish-colonial fairy tale of dark wood ancestral mansions and horse drawn carriages known as kalesa. The architecture is exceptionally intact, well-preserved and is truly reflective of its roots which makes it a romantic adventure for couples visiting this prominent Ilocos tourist spot.The town itself is a wonder as it's also considered as one of the UNESCO WOrld Heritage site.

After a yester-year walk at Calle Crisologo, head down to Plaza Salcedo in the evening and watch the nightly Vigan Dancing Fountain show.

Prior to going to Vigan Heritage Village, we had the chance to visit Baluarte Zoo - private own Zoo by Chavit Singson. It's about 10 minutes away from the city and it's open everyday to the public for Free.

How to get to Vigan City from Manila
Bus - there are lots of buses coming from Manila (Partas, Victory Liner, Farinas Trans, Florida, RCJ Lines, Maria De Leon). Head to Cubao Bus Terminal or Sampaloc Manila and look for buses heading to Vigan or Laoag City.
Car - 8-10 hours drive to northern part of Philippines
Air - though Vigan has its own airport, flights from Manila to Ilocos is only through Laoag International Airport. From Laoag take the public transportation to a 2 hours bus ride to Vigan.

EXPLORING VIGAN, ILOCOS SUR: Chavit Singson's Baluarte Zoo and a LOT of Museums

December 2017 - Second part of just the first day! We visited Chavit's expansive zoo special for being able to walk with animals like the ostrich, alpacas, and several ponies. The zoo also boasts zebras, many types of deer and the king of all cats, the tiger. If you are into history, Vigan also offers some of the most preserved artifacts and works giving you a, excellent glimpse of the past. Enjoy!
