THE FUN RUN EVENT IN BRIEF:
Event ambassador Joel Selwood, an Australian rules footballer and captain of the Geelong Cats football club flew in early after representing Australia in the international rules clash in Perth the night before.
He and partner Britt Davis presented the medals to those who placed in the 6km and 12km events.
Run Australia has raised millions of dollars in support of local causes including hospital wards in Geelong and Ballarat. Their festive, fun-filled events are open to anyone, regarding your fitness level.

Geelong/ Australien - Am Abend des 19. April 2010 offenbarte sich dem Geschäftsmann Anthony Raduka und einer Bekannten ein ungewöhnlicher Anblick über der nachtbeleuchteten Stadt Geelong an der Corio Bay im australischen Bundesstaat Victoria: Unbekannte Lichtobjekte vollziehen regelrechte Showflüge über der Bucht. Um was es sich bei den UFO-Lichtern auf dem Video handelt, ist Inhalt kontroverser Diskussionen.

Laut dem Geelong Advertiser (geelongadvertiser.com.au) machte Raduka seine Beobachtungen und Aufnahmen vom Balkon seines Hauses in der unweit entfernten Ortschaft Highton aus, die zum Verwaltungsgebiet Greater Geelong City zählt.
Insgesamt 20 Minuten lang (rund 7 Minuten wurden vom Advertiser online veröffentlicht) filmte Mr. Raduka wie mehrere Lichter in teils rasanten Mustern nicht nur hoch am Himmel über der Stadt manövrieren, sondern auch derart tief herunterkommen, dass sie entweder direkt zwischen den Straßen- und Häuserlichtern, oder zumindest davor und auf deren Höhe manövrieren.
Wir haben schon zuvor normale Flugzeuge und Kampfjets von unserem Balkon aus beobachtet, sogar die Kunststücke einer Flugshow, aber diese Lichter waren zehnmal schneller, zitiert die Zeitung den Zeugen und Kameramann.
Ob es sich tatsächlich unidentifizierte Flugobjekte (UFOs) exotischer Herkunft gehandelt hat, darüber kann auch der Zeuge nur spekulieren. Alle Dinge die wir kennen und mit denen wir versucht haben die Lichter zu erklären, konnten nicht die Tatsache erklären, dass sich die Farbe der Lichter ständig veränderte und Lichter derart schnell waren.
Rund eine halbe Stunde lang haben Raduka und seine Bekannte (oder Freundin/Frau?) das Schauspiel beobachtet. Hierbei seien die Lichter auch direkt über Hausdächer geflogen - zu tief für konventionelle Flugzeuge, so der Zeuge.
Während selbst Kritiker eingestehen, dass Miniatur-Heißluftballon, sogenannte Himmelslaternen, die Lichter auf den Aufnahmen nicht erklären können, vermuten einige indes, dass es sich um durch LED-beleuchtete ferngelenkte Modellflieger handeln könnte. Kritiker dieser Erklärung wiederum halten es hingegen für unmöglich, dass die sichtbaren Manöver und Geschwindigkeiten von Flugzeugmodellen erreicht werden können, wenn die Lichter beispielsweise nahezu vertikal emporschießen.
Ebenso wie die Theorie, dass hier exotische Flugobjekte zu sehen sein sollen, lässt sich jedoch auch die Modellflugzeug-Erklärung durch die Aufnahmen alleine nicht eindeutig beweisen, da die tatsächliche Entfernung der Objekte von der Kamera nicht bekannt ist und diese sich aus den Aufnahmen selbst auch nicht ermitteln lässt.

Nur wenige Tage, nachdem die Story vom Geelong Advertiser samt Video veröffentlicht wurde, bestätigt zumindest eine anonyme Aussage einer Leserin die schon von uns erläuterten Vermutungen, dass es sich um ein von LEDs beleuchtetes Modellflugzeug handeln könnte.
Obwohl die Aussage anonym veröffentlicht wurde und somit lediglich bereits zuvor zuhauf geäußerte Vermutung aufgreifen und ausschmücken könnte (?), wollen wir ihnen diese im Folgenden nicht vorenthalten:
'(Auch) mein Mann glaubte, dass es sich um ein UFO handele. Aus diesem Grund ist er dann losgefahren, um die Sache zu untersuchen', so die Leserin.
'Viele Leute haben geglaubt, es wären UFOs. Als ich dann davon auf der Arbeit erfuhr, habe ich nur gelacht, weil ich wusste, was es in Wirklichkeit war.' Die Frau erklärte, dass die UFOs tatsächlich ein ferngesteuertes Flugzeug mit LED-Lichtern gewesen sei.
'Das waren also nur einige Jungs, die Montagnacht ein wenig Spaß in der Nähe der Balyang Sanctuary hatten. (...) Aus diesem Grund sind sie auch nur in einem engen Bereich umher und sogar direkt über das Auto meines Mannes hinweg geflogen. (...) Mann konnte sie sogar hören, wenn man nur nahe genug war.'

You yangs parkrun Launch - Branch Street - Lara, Victoria 3212
Such a beautiful location for a parkrun, kinda regret not doing the you yangs 30km event this year now, will need to go back next year for it !!
This course is moderately flat, would recommend something to stop the mosquito's if you're standing still for too long but they weren't overly bad (only got bit a handful of times)
Great place to do photography, the event photographer done an exceptional job of covering the field with this 5km 1loop circuit.
Didn't get a long time with the event team but Rachel the Run Director for the day is highly passionate and enthusiastic and also done a superb job of making sure everything went smoothly for the event.
I will highly recommend this parkrun to anyone that's in the area.

Bannockburn Bush parkrun , Event #1 14 October 2017
The launch of Bannockburn Bush parkrun on Saturday was well attended despite the cool misty morning. While the course is straight forward, running through the trees on the dirt track is magical and enjoyable.
