new Mill Bay, BC job, March 22, 2012 3:30pm
Went to the shelf and dusted off my 2010 Komatsu PC55MR-3 excavator for this job. Vancouver Island, BC, across from Brentwood Bay, BC. This location is about 1km North of the former BC Cement Plant at Bamberton, and 500 metres South of Bamberton provincial park. Today was an addition excavation on a residence.

Bamberton Bound Part I
A new movie called 'Bamberton Bound Part I' - Bamberton Bound, anecdotal tales of boys and girls growing up post-war in the Bamberton village, makes for entertaining history. They reflect a shared yet singular growing-up experience...unimaginable in this day and age.
Hear the stories--from the ordinary to the remarkable--as recollected by several of the sons and daughters of the cement manufacturing workers who grew up amongst the 27 family homes of this self-contained, company town.
Nestled on a steep slope of the Malahat mountain and overlooking the Saanich (once Todd) Inlet, the town that was their home is now but a ghost town.
But these Bamberton memories serve to conjure some sense of what it was to grow up as part of a tight, isolated community complete with a one-room schoolhouse, the best-ever Santa, and the most daring winter sled-run to be found on South Vancouver Island.
Illustrated in part with creative animation, as produced by graduates from the Animation Program at the Victoria College of Art (VCA), this short production was funded by a grant from the New Horizons for Seniors Program.

Vancouver Island's Newest Community could soon be Bamberton
BAMBERTON - After years of frustration and failed attempts, developers in Bamberton finally received the go-ahead from the Cowichan Valley Regional District for industrial and commercial expansion.
The rezoning application was approved by the CVRD on Monday night, giving Three Point Properties permission to seek industrial expansion on the South Cowichan property for light industry, commercial and outdoor adventure uses.
The original plan for the site was to build a large scale residential complex but the CVRD says the area doesn't need more houses, rather jobs to boost the local economy.
Developers hope to create a vibrant port-side industrial community on the site and a destination area for outdoor thrill seekers.

Could a New Community Be Coming to Vancouver Island?
BAMBERTON -- For decades developers have been calling Bamberton a community in the making.
The area south of Mill Bay has been the centre of its fair share of proposals including a new proposal at the centre of a public hearing on Tuesday night.
Three Point Properties has put together a new scaled-back plan for the area after the Cowichan Valley Regional District shot down its plans for a full-fledged community one year ago.
Developers have since scratched the residential portion of the plan and are focusing on rezoning the land to allow for industrial and commercial development.
Opponents to the plan argue the development could add traffic to the Malahat and potentially take away business from Mill Bay.
Developers say if their proposal is given the green light it could still be years until any development begins.
