Whisky Village, Luang Prabang, Laos
Taking a boat tour to Ban Xang Hai (The Whisky Village) on route to Pak Ou Caves. This village is famous for its Lao Lao, the local brewed whisky. Some versions involve the fermentation of snakes and various insects. The village also has many displays of Lao silk products made by the local villagers.

Sáng tinh mơ đi cầu an tại Wat Xieng Thong ngôi chùa thiêng nhất Luang Prabang Lào gần 6 thế kỷ
Wat Xieng Thong hay còn gọi là chùa Xiêng Thoong, là một trong những ngôi chùa cổ nhất và là ngôi chùa quan trọng nhất của thành phố Luang Prabang, Lào.
Ngôi chùa nằm ở ngã ba sông Mê Kông và sông Nậm Khăn. Ngôi chùa được tạo dựng dưới triều vua Setthathirat năm 1559-1560. Tên gọi Wat Xieng Thong có nghĩa là chùa của thành phố vàng.
Từ cổng ra vào, bên trái là một đền nhỏ, bên trong là cỗ xe của hoàng gia. Chiếc xe đồ sộ, nổi bật với sắc vàng và được trang trí bằng 5 rắn thần Naga. Cỗ xe này đã được vua Sisavong sử dụng vào năm 1960.
Là ngôi chùa đẹp và quan trọng nhất của Luang Prabang với lối kiến trúc đặc thù Lào, mái cong cong buông xuống gần mặt đất. Wat Xieng Thong là ngôi chùa chính bao quanh là những miếu đường nhỏ có cùng một lối kiến trúc, hợp thành một cảnh quan đẹp đẽ.
Từ ngoài vào trong, trên các tường ta thấy cơ man phù điêu, điêu khắc, chạm trỗ công phu, sắc sảo nội dung dựa theo Phật tích. Nội thất của Wat Xiêng Thoong phải kể là tuyệt tác. Mỗi miếu đường cũng vậy. Mặt sau Wat, trên tường có họa một cây nhân sinh, màu đỏ cam.
Tới thăm ngôi chùa cổ kính này, quý vị sẽ phải mua vé tham quan là 20,000kid/người, tức khoảng 60,000VNĐ, một mức giá rất phải chăng để được thăm thú kỳ quan cực kỳ xinh đẹp và cổ kính này phải không nào? Quý vị và các bạn hãy theo chân Color Man nhé!

Vonmanee: I am a graduate of Santiphab high school and a member of the Tai Lue ethnic group from Ban Phanom. My topic is childbirth customs with a focus on the Lao tradition of sitting by the fire during the first month after a baby is born.
Vonvilath: “I am 14 years old and my research topic is the changing childcare traditions in Lao communities . I hope Lao and foreign visitors who watch my video and see my photos will learn about the differences between childcare in the past and today.
Vonmanee: “Women stay near the fire, drink hot tea and wash the baby in special water so the mother will have good breast milk and the baby will grow up fast and clever. I want Lao and foreigner visitors learn about this special time and the differences for women from different ethnic groups. I want to preserve our culture so new generations can learn and keep our traditions alive.”
Vonvilath: “In previous generations, toys were made by hand themselves and the medicines and daily activities were connected to nature. Today, many things have changed. Life is more comfortable and toys and medicines can be bought at the store. Some things are better now and some things were better before.
I want to help preserve Tai Lue culture for future generations. If I have children, I will teach them to be a good people and take a good care of each other, our country, and our cultural traditions, just like my parents taught me.”

Stitching Our Stories: Community Research Project was launched in October 2012 through the partnership of PhotoForward, an international media arts programme, and the Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre, a private museum in Luang Prabang, Laos.
This trail-blazing project engages women and girls from Laos' diverse ethnic communities to use photography, digital video, and community research to explore their unique cultural heritage, the vital roles that women play, and the often-seismic impact that modernization is having on traditional beliefs and practices.
The film is featured as part of the exhibition, Caregivers to Culture Keepers: Stories from Women in a Changing Laos at the Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre, a private museum in Luang Prabang, Laos.
