Touristic Attractions that Banned Tourism!
We tend to think that it doesn't matter if we're going to visit a monument now or in 10 years, it will still be there. But... it doesn't always apply... Overcrowding can sometimes oblige local authorities to make some changes such as ban visits or limit them. Let's see some examples.
1) The Ise Grand Shrine, Japan
This place is considered the Shintoism's most holy site, and in keeping with Shinto's principles of death, renewal and impermanence, they are rebuilt every 20 years. So, you can only visit the outer shrines, the main shrine buildings are hidden away, and can only be entered by a few select priests and members of the imperial family.
2) Boracay, the Philippines
From the 1980s this island has become a paradise for beaches lovers. But local problems such as, unregulated development and sewage pipes dumping raw effluent into the sea have ended in the island being closed off to tourists for around 6 months.
3) Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers, New Zealand
This was the perfect spot for hikers who love trekking on the ice. However, since the glaciers have been suffering a fast melting, they have banned the visits there, and the only way on to the glacier now is taking a helicopter flight.
4) The Lascaux Caves, France
Since its discovery in 1940 they have only offered wonderful surprises such as 600 wall paintings from 17,000 years ago, bringing huge amounts of visitors. But, of course, with so many people visiting, coughing and sweating, the raise in temperature along with the humidity and carbon dioxide from breathing, and other contaminants, brought in by the crowds meant that the paintings started to go a bit mouldy. So, to avoid the visible deterioration the caves were closed to the public in 1963
5) Stonehenge, Britain
If you were imagining yourself walking among the stones and feeling the magic as an outlander character, forget it. Authorities have put ropes around the site. So now, you will only see them from the outside and among the crowd, of course.
6) Maya Beach, Thailand
This wonderful beach on the Thai island of Koh Phi Phi Leh where that Leonardo DiCaprio film, The Beach was recorded underwent a four-month tourist ban to try to protect its reefs and sea life. It has now also been capped at 2000 tourists a day, as well as a ban on boats being able to anchor there.
7) The Trevi Fountain, Rome
This incredible Italian fountain has suffered so much abuse from tourist, that the government has been forced to establish restrictive measures. Now, if you simply sit on the edge to eat or drink or, of course, try to swim inside, you will have to pay a fine. Just try to remember that next time you visit.
8) Surtsey, Iceland
This island emerged in 1963 from volcano eruptions. However it has been suffering a lot of erosion since then. That's why it's going to be opened only for scientists with special permits that want to study plant and animal life there.
9) Taj Mahal, India
This is the monument that we all want to see because of its beauty and love symbolism. However, you must know that now they have limited tours of three-hours a time. They've also reduced the selling of tickets from 70,000 to 40,000.
10) Chichen Itza, Mexico
If you were thinking about climbing up the centrepiece El Castillo, forget about it. This pyramid was closed off to trampling visitors after a woman died falling from it in 2006. The access to the throne room is also closed off from tourists.
Did you visit any of these sites before they were banned?

Badly behaved tourists: Chinese tourists clear out fruit plate in seconds - Compilation
1. Mar 25, 2016 — A video capturing a group of Chinese tourists clearing out a fruit plate at a hotel in Vietnam has gone viral on social media.
2. Mar 21, 2016 — A group of Chinese tourists were caught on camera shoveling large amounts of prawns onto their plates.
3. Jul 25, 2014 — You’ve probably heard stories about Chinese parents letting their children urinate and defecate in the subway and on the street. But if you think that’s bad, check out this story about a boy who took an epic dump in the cabin of an airplane.
4. Dec 18, 2014 — It has good week for Chinese tourists intent on creating havoc in airplanes, and not so good for the people inconvenienced by their insane antics. One case so shocked the Chinese internet that Beijing has vowed to punish those involved.
5. Dec 15, 2015 — A Chinese passenger who is also an assistant professor from U Penn attempted to upgrade himself on a United Airlines flight with embarrassing results. The flight was bound from Shanghai to New York City and was delayed due to the passenger’s antics.

Koh Lanta Food and Market Guide. Thai Street Food on Koh Lanta Thailand 2019
Koh Lanta Thailand Food Guide: Part 1. Street Food and Markets on Koh Lanta 2019. Subscribe: NEW THAILAND FOOD AND TRAVEL VIDEOS EVERY WEDNESDAY.
This video is from a weekend my family and I spent on Koh Lanta, in Krabi Thailand in February 2019. The places in the video in order of appearance in the video are:
Secret Beach, Google Maps:
Klong Dao Beach, Google Maps:
Ananda Lanta Resort:
Saladan Food Market. Open every Saturday, 3pm till 6:30pm. Google Maps:
The Kitchen Restaurant, Open daily 5pm - 10pm. Google Maps:
Koh Lanta Old Town Sunday Market, Open Sundays 8am - 10:30am. Google Maps:
Koh Lanta is a beautiful island, with great beaches, a relaxed very feel, and it is not built up like Phuket or Koh Samui. Many of the inhabitants still live a fairly traditional life. There are lots of restaurants on Koh Lanta, offering all types of western and Thai food.
The Koh Lanta markets are great places to grab some authentic Thai cuisine, fresh food, or Thai street food with lots of options on offer. There are all sorts of prepared and cooked foods including fruit, vegetables, seafood, Thai stir fries, curries and sweets & desserts. There’s also a variety of shopping with clothes, shoes, bags, jewelry and hand crafts.
Check out my recent video, Phuket Street Food: 8 Things You Should Try in 2019 here:
There are different Thai food markets markets open every day of the week on Koh Lanta and there are 2 featured in this video. Thai food markets and night markets are one of the best places to buy fresh and authentic Thai food while you travel in Thailand. There are loads of Thai food markets & night markets all over Thailand. At the markets you'll find so much Thai cuisine on offer & the food here is cheap, and so tasty! Thai food has been heavily influenced by Chinese food so you will find lots of familiar flavours.
And in case you’re worried, eating Thai street food is safe. It’s what the locals eat and it is cooked fresh and sold quickly. I’ve been eating it nearly daily since 2012 in Thailand and my friends who have been to visit and tour Thailand have all eaten it, and none of us have had any problems. You’ll find street food on many street corners in Thailand, be it in Phuket, Bangkok, Pattaya, Hua Hin or Krabi and at all of the markets. Thai street food is some of the best Thai food you’ll find in Thailand!

The markets in Thailand are also a great place to get an insight into Thai culture while you travel in Thailand. You can shop alongside the locals and learn what they buy and eat. And the markets are a great place to try traditional Thai street foods, learn Thai recipes and cooking, as well as eat some of the best Thai dishes in Thailand. You'll see the people cooking the food right in front of you. And best of all, the food is cheap, often much cheaper than eating in Thai restaurants. Eating at markets is a good way to eat cheap on your Thailand holidays.
Make sure you check out some Thai Food Markets on your trip to Thailand, and be sure to sample some of the amazing Thai street food that's available in Thailand! If you want to try some of the most delicious food in the world be sure to visit Thailand!
Subscribe to my channel for my latest vlog and for more videos on what to do in Thailand and what to eat in Thailand. New Thailand videos posted every Wednesday about Thailand: places to see, things to do, tours, Thai food, Thailand markets, Thai festivals & culture, street food, Thai recipes, eating Thai food, hotels, resorts, villas, restaurants, Thailand holidays, tourism, accommodation & Thailand travel, including Hua Hin, Bangkok, Phuket, Patong, Ao Nang, Krabi and other Thailand destinations.
Krabi is about 2-3 hours from Phuket by land or sea, and has world class accommodation standards comparable to what you find in Phuket hotels and resorts, but in a more relaxed environment.
If you're looking into Thailand Hotels have a look at hotels and resorts in Krabi. The islands and beaches of Krabi are famous for Thailand holidays, the movie The Beach was filmed on Krabi's Koh Phi Phi Island.
I do not own the music in this video. The music is from Epidemic Sounds.

ABOUT US - GoBKK is an independant exploring, hosting and Concierge company. We would like to show you Bangkok in a totally different way and from a different angle - off the beaten tracks and far away from the Grand Palace. Don't get us wrong - the Grand Palace is absolutely stunning and beautiful, but there are enough tours on these big sights already. With us you will experience Bangkok in small groups only, giving you wonderful and memorable moments.
Small groups 1 to 6 people we proceed - Even if only one person booked the tour. We offer a variety of day-experiences and a couple of nightlife-walks as well in Bangkok, Thailand.
Our List Tours;
- 9-ways-of-transportation
- Thai culture and gosts
- the 4 world religions walk
- Ko Kret - handicraft island
- hangover ii - filmset tour
- Visit a cat shelt
List of Public Transportation in Bangkok Thailand;
1. Skytrain (BTS) - The Skytrain is an efficient and convenient way to navigate around the inner city, at a cost low enough to relax and enjoy the ride, though not cheap.
2. Taxis - Taxis are cheap and fares start at 35 Baht. Make sure the meter is on and showing 35 baht, though it is often difficult to convince the driver to do so.
3. Chao Phraya River Express Boat - In a city teeming with traffic like Bangkok, an even easier way to experience a bit of Bangkok is to hop on the Chao Phraya Express boats that run along the river in both directions.
4. Saen Saep canal boat - Saen Saep canal boat cuts across the downtown and its traffic jams running from the Rattanakosin Island with the Grand Palace and temples in the west to the Pratunam shopping area near Siam and from there to the western suburbs.
5. Motorcycle Taxi - For shorter distances motorcycle taxis can be found on many street corners. This is helpful especially for accessing the Skytrain or the Subway.
6. Subway (MRT) - The Subway (MRT) is a welcome addition to the Skytrain and gives access to more areas than the Skytrain already does. There are interchange stations at Silom and at Asoke where you have the possibility to change from the subway to the Skytrain and the other way around, but the systems are independent of each other and not very handy to use in tandem.
7. BRT Bus - A single route Bus Rapid Transit system is now open.
8. Tuk Tuk - Some may believe that your Bangkok trip is incomplete if you do not ride just once in a Tuk Tuk, but you may want to save this experience for a less congested city where the fumes are not so bad, and the danger less.
9. Airport Rail Link (ARL) - The Airport Rail Link provides an inexpensive and fairly quick rail connection from Suvaranabhumi (BKK) airport to downtown Bangkok.
10. Public (BMTA) Buses - There is a huge network of public buses in the city, but little English language route information is available, though they are not difficult to figure out.
11. Public (BMTA) Vans - A network of white passenger vans complements the bus network, but little English language route information is available.
Best 10 things to do in Bangkok;
1. The Grand Palace - Opulent former royal residence & museum
2. Historical Thai houses - Explore traditional Thai house museums
3. Central World - France-born retailer of beauty products
4. Chatuchak Weekend Market - Sprawling marketplace with a big variety
5. Temple of the Emerald Buddha -Sacred shrine with reclining Buddha
6. Wat Arun Ratchawararam - Riverside temple with a landmark spire
7. Wat Pho massageGet a Thai massage in Wat Pho
