Visiting Romania but not getting round to visiting Timisoara means you miss out on an important part of the culture and the beauty of this country. With a history of over 1000 years, Timisoara is a city that has the perfect combination of traditional and modern culture.
Once a border city within what used to be known as the Banat region, acting as a base for Romans, Turks, Austro-Hungarians, and finally Romanians, Timisoara remains one of the country’s most multicultural cities with large Hungarian, German and Serbian communities. Timisoara is home to year-round musical and theatre performances, art galleries, museums and a buzzing nightlife. A progressive and cosmopolitan place, Timisoara was the first city in Europe and second in the world, after New York, to use electricity to illuminate its public streets.Timisoara is also called the city of Parks and Flowers. Besides the green retreats, Timisoara has a lot of public squares like Freedom Square, Victory Square and Union Square . These three, situated in the centre of the city, are the most popular places to go out for drinks, dancing, walk around and attend concerts or films and animation projections.

Wostokov Hromi vuk u Temišvaru / Wostok's Exhibition Lame Wolf in Timisoara
Last weekend we were on a short visit to Timisoara, the largest city of Banat with interesting architecture and cultural heritage (more on that in some of the following videos). The reason for the visit is the Wostok exhibition The Lame Wolf and the presentation of our film Vicko The Human ( as well as the lecture in the Romanian language of the university professor of Italian language Daniele Pantaleoni on the phenomenon of the comic book Alan Ford and its cultural influence in the post-Yugoslavian space and Italy.
The exhibition of Danilo Milošev Wostok The Lame Wolf contains a comic strip by poem of Vasko Popa, a poet born in the village of Grebenac in the vicinity of Vršac, originally Romanian, but almost his entire opus is in Serbian (only some of his early poems are in Romanian), and comic strip by the fable of the most famous Serb from the area of today's Romanian state Dositej Obradovic, born in Čakovo, a town in Romania. The exhibited works are partly independent work of the author, as well as collaborations with his former associates such as Grabowski, Nabor Devolac and Sanja S. The visitors were able to browse fanzin Krpelj, as well as other different editions of books and fanzines, and during the conversation with the author they could see the book Robusto!!! and hear something about that edition of Wostok's comic series translated into English and released on US soil last year for the publishing house Lovecraft House.
The exhibition was held in the Timisoara's Club Scart Loc Lejer, which also has a kind of museum in its basement (about it also more in some of the following videos), and was organized by Goran Mrakić from the Association of Serbs in Romania.
