Kobe Water Science Museum

The Kobe Water Science Museum is housed in a German Renaissance style building built in 1917 as a water purification plant. Converted to the Kobe Water Science Museum it has a 3-D theater and fun exhibits relating to water. Visitors can try their hand at various water-related experiments. The museum appeals to children with its hands-on bubble machines, water guns and water mazes. The grounds are a well-known cherry blossom-viewing site.

Shallow Earthquake Hits Colombia on Monday Morning

A 5.6-magnitude earthquake jolted Colombia on Monday morning local time. There were no immediate reports of casualties or property losses.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the tremor centered in the department of Huila, situated about 300 kilometers southwest of the capital Bogota, and struck shortly after 08:00. With a depth measured at 37 kilometers, it was classified as a shallow quake.

Residents in Bogota who felt the quake said it lasted for around 30 seconds. Office workers who had just arrived at their workplaces evacuated out to the open after sensing the movement. Surveillance videos in many office buildings in the capital showed some indication of the tremor.

A Huila dweller captured a video of an indoor light fixture shaking as the quake hit.

The earthquake led Bogota's El Dorado International Airport to a temporarily close for several minutes, but normal operations were soon resumed.
