Banff Park Museum Video
A short film introducing the Banff Park Museum, a National Historic Site of Canada.
While searching for bears, a family discovers the Banff Park Museum. Upon entering the museum they are given a tour by Norman Sanson, the last curator of the museum. Since his retirement in 1932, much of the historical collection and original architecture has remained the same, making the museum itself an exhibit.

Banff, located in Banff National Park in the Canadian Rockies, is one part resort town and one part breathtaking natural retreat.
Life is a little different at over 4,600 feet in elevation—by the way, that makes Banff Canada’s highest town. During your Banff sightseeing, you’ll learn that the town’s residents and visitors are a lively bunch, and you’ll find the local businesses are perfect for this festive crowd. Choose from over 100 restaurants to dine at, or stop by one or two of the dozens of pubs and cafes for an inexpensive snack and drink after walking through the many boutiques. You can also enjoy a marvelous time after the sun goes down; try dancing the night away at the Dancing Sasquatch, or visiting one of Banff’s other nightclubs.
Banff National Park is known for its wildlife, some of which frequents Banff itself. You’ll often spot deer at the outskirts of town, some of which are friendly and curious about people. Once you say hello to the deer, make the drive to nearby Johnston Canyon, where you can take in snow-capped alpine scenery straight out of a fairy tale.
Warm up after all this time spent outside: head to the Banff Upper Hot Springs. This exquisite spa has treated visitors to hot water and stunning views of the Rockies for over a century, and will continue to do so for a century to come.

The Cave and Basin National Historic Site of Canada is located in the town of Banff, Alberta, within the Canadian Rocky Mountains, at the site of natural thermal mineral springs around which Canada's first national park, Banff National Park, was established. The Canadian National Park system was effectively born because of the hot springs, discovered accidentally by three Canadian Pacific Railway employees on their day off in 1883, but known to Aboriginals for 10,000 years and a special healing cave. They noticed steam escaping from a large hole in the side of the mountain. One man descended through the skylight entrance into the cave using a felled tree. Further investigation led them to enjoy a dip in the mineral-rich waters of a sulpherous-smelling spring, making them the first white men to bath in what became Banff's renowned Upper Hot Springs at Sulphur Mountain.

The Bar U Ranch National Historic Site is the only National Historic Site to commemorate the history and importance of ranching in Canada. In the Video Cowboy Singer Lewis Martin Pederson is featured This video shows how the Bar U Ranch celebrates ranching heritage and the cowboy way of life. Visit “the ranch that fed the world”, the historic Bar U Ranch. Located south of Longview, Alberta, the Bar U was one of the first corporate ranches in western Canada. The Bar U’s beef products fed Native Canadians, railroad workers, Mounties, and were shipped to cities in the U.S. and Britain. Now a Parks Canada site, the Bar U has ties to the Prince of Wales, to one of Canada’s most prominent black cowboys John Ware (48 minutes) and to the Calgary Stampede. The Sundance Kid (played by Robert Redford in the movie) 43 minutes once worked at the Bar U Ranch. Set in the rolling foothills of the Rockies. Banff National Park -- Hiking in Egypt
Is the Sphynx on your bucket list? We'll add a Scarab, a Mummy and a Pharaoh into the mix on this visual tour of Egypt. That's right -- Egypt! In Banff National Park!
The jaw-dropping pyramid-shaped peaks of Banff National Park's Egypt Lake area clearly inspired A.O. Wheeler during his 10+ year adventure to survey 970 km of the Canadian Continental Divide. They made such an impression that he named many of the peaks and lakes after the storied ancient civilization.
After thirty years of exploration... of the Canadian Rockies, writes Wheeler outstanding among them for scenic charm and interest may be classed the group of peaks, lakes and alpine meadows of the Egypt Lake area.
That's quite a statement considering all the other dramatic peaks that form the spine of the continent he was hired to survey. For decades that sentiment has been shared by hikers from around the world.
A day-long backpack hike leads to the Egypt Lake campground and shelter (yes, there is a rustic shelter here! From here, limitless day hikes abound.

When you imagine the Canadian Rockies, Banff National Park is likely the image that comes to mind. While a beautiful location for hiking and relaxation during the summer, this 2,500 square mile alpine mountain sanctuary comes alive during the winter.
Snowy forests, glacier-carved lakes, and icefields set the scene in this, Canada’s first national park. Your Banff National Park tour begins in Banff itself, a resort town with a casual atmosphere, loaded with bars and restaurants, and continues into the park’s vast outdoor space, which is often utilized for winter activities. Whether you’re an experienced skier or are new to the sport, you’ll find thousands of acres of slopes to carve up. Take lessons in town or at one of the resorts dotting the mountains, or, if you’re not sure about skiing, try snowshoeing and hiking through the pristine wilderness. Embark on the Johnston Canyon Ice Walk for one of the most astonishing views of nature you’ll ever see…or book a sleigh ride or dog sledding ride for an adventure straight out of a storybook.
Ready to really appreciate some natural beauty? Your Banff National Park sightseeing will lead you to the Banff Gondola and let it take you to the summit for a view of Bow Valley and the surrounding Rocky Mountains. We promise you’ve never seen anything like it.
