In this video, we explore the town of Banff on a weekend escape from Calgary. Banff is a great place to visit, whether you stay one night or ten nights.
If you're looking for things to do in Banff this weekend or any weekend for that matter, and if you love the outdoors, this episode is for you.
We start by visiting the Cave and Basin National Historic Site, which was the birthplace of Parks Canada! We then check into our Banff lodging, eat a great dinner, and wake up for two beautiful hikes - Tunnel Mountain Trail (easy, quick, and great views) and Sulphur Mountain (home of the Banff Gondola).
One of the cool things about hiking sulphur mountain is that you can either take the Banff Gondola up and down, take the gondola one way, or just hike both ways. We tried to take the gondola down but due to time, we were in for a surprise.

Upper Hot Springs are commercially developed hot springs located in Banff National Park in Canada, near the Banff townsite. The hot pool is outdoors and while in the pool, visitors can look across the valley to Mount Rundle.
Located in the town of Banff, in Alberta's Banff National Park, the Banff Upper Hot Springs has all the amenities of a modern facility in a splendid historic spa and bathhouse - against a backdrop of Banff National Park's spectacular alpine scenery. If you’re anything like me, when you hear “Banff, Alberta” – you automatically think gorgeous crystal-clear turquoise glacier lakes and stunning mountain backdrops. While that’s most definitely true in the warmer seasons, Banff is breathtaking during the frozen winter season, too.
As someone who travelled here during the cold, cold month of February (-30C anyone?) and, most importantly, as someone who doesn’t ski or snowboard, I'm sharing how truly unforgettable this winter getaway can be.

In 1883 when three rail workers re-discovered the Banff Hot Springs at the base of Sulphur Mountain, it’s unlikely that they could have imagined the legacy that would follow.
After being designated first as The Banff Hot Springs Reserve, the hot
pools would eventually become the catalyst for creating Canada’s first national park. During the late 19th century, “the waters” in Banff became a mecca for those seeking healing properties.
Even today, the salutary feeling of slipping into a pool filled with water that has been heated and filtered from deep within the crust of the earth is undeniable.
