KOH CHANG ADVENTURE part 5 - Nightlife and Bang Bao Pier
KOH CHANG ADVENTURE part 5 - Bang Bao Pier and nightlife
Bang bao pier is located in the south of Ko Chang. A hub to the other small island around. Such as Koh Mak, Koh Kood, Koh Klum, Koh Laoya, Koh Mak, Koh Wai, Koh Rung, Ko Klang, Koh Mai Si Yai.
We also had some fun time in little pattaya. The beer bar complex on white sand beach. The bars and the girls are very relaxed and you can have a good time in there. prices are reasonable for and island.
This is on the West coast of the island koh Chang.
We are renting a scooter on koh chang for 200 baht a day and were driving around on our motorbikes. 2 honda clicks.
The road is very mounty with steep hills and sharp curves.
A motorbike heaven to drive around.

BANG BAO KOH CHANG THAILAND 2015
With pleasure I want to present my new video clip about Koh Chang Bang Bao.
I hope you will enjoy!!!
Bang Bao at an Island Pace
For many years, Bang Bao was the classic Thai fishing village with life centred around a narrow pier of traditional wooden stilt houses and boats moored up ready for sea. On land, more houses, some with their own small jetties, were dotted around the beautiful large bay, local shops clustered along the little soi leading from the main road down to the pier and a school and temple sat on the mountain side. Nowadays, much of that has changed as tourism has replaced fishing as the principal source of income and the village has established itself as the island’s main point of departure for the myriad of competing trips exploring the archipelago, both above and below water. The stilt houses have been converted into the odd homestay, a few dive shops, a handful of large seafood restaurants but, in the main, into a plethora of almost identical shops, rammed to the gunwales with souvenirs. Small offshoot structures have been added with guesthouses or private dwellings and around the bay itself, there are resorts, bungalows and a large condo development.
Bang Bao Koh Chang on the pier
The pier has been extended to accommodate the numerous dive, speed and snorkel boats, with them tied up two or three deep along the now concrete jetty, which sports a new lighthouse at its far end. At the start and end of each day, as the tourists set out and return, the narrow cramped walkway leading up to the boats is the busiest place on the island. Nonetheless, outside of rush hour, there is lots to explore and sitting out over the water for lunch or dinner is still a great holiday experience. Whilst this is not a beach area, that is another couple of kilometres further south at Bang Bao Beach Koh Chang or back to Lonely Beach to the north, there is good ACCOMMODATION from budget to boutique around the bay and on the pier. The atmosphere is peaceful and laid back, with a few boats still fishing and unloading their catches and locals living their lives in amongst the hustle and bustle as they have always done. There are also some quite wonderful views thrown in for good measure.
Bang Bao – Around The Bay
Heading south from Bailan Beach, the road snakes and curves around the coastline, skirting through the forest past the odd building, with DARA, a private rehabilitation centre, sitting at the top of the last hill, before you drop down into the outer reaches of Bang Bao itself. Shortly afterwards, on the corner with Asia Backpackers, with its bungalows laid out on the hill above, a small road leads towards the sea. This takes you to the north side of the bay, where bungalows, resorts and homestays are spread out, all with great views across the water. The narrow soi passes the track down to Remark Puzi Bungalows, which you can also access from near the pier and then a heavily gated entrance to Nature Zone Eden Village, a private development that never properly began. After a few more twists and turns, it reaches Cliff View Resort, bungalows in tiers up the hill and Cliff Cottages next door, with Nirvana Resort and its Tantra Restaurant at the end, on the sea. The northern shore of the bay and its headland is very narrow at this point and Cliff Cottages, its restaurant and some of its bungalows actually look down over the rocky inlet behind, with Nirvana Resort also having its own cliff-edge walk and viewing deck, so you can watch the sunset from this side. Bang Bao Koh Chang at the start of the pier
The road goes straight through Nirvana Resort and out the other side and becoming more of a track, curves past Homestay Bungalows before climbing up to Bhuvarin Resort and Resolution Resort, both of which have their buildings spilling down the steep slopes towards the water. At the very end, you can drop down to Khao Nok Homestay with its restaurant, bungalows and wooden jetties and beyond them, it is possible to venture down a tiny track to the shrine at the end. This is dedicated to Admiral Chumphon Khet Udomsak, the founder of the Thai Navy and is one of several on the island, the others being outside of White Sand Beach and in the very far southern corner after Long Beach. All commemorate the loss of lives suffered during WWII, when the French Navy clashed with the Thai fleet off this coast, sinking three of its ships, the so called Battle of Koh Chang.

Koh Kood Resort, Koh Chang, Thailand
Koh Kood is a great place to include on your Koh Chang island-hop. It's a two-hour speedboat ride from the southern Koh Chang pier at Bang Bao, so make sure you plan your route around the islands in advance. Otherwise, like us, you might make a few unnecessary trips -- as pleasant as they are when the seas are relatively calm.
With a jetty of its own the Koh Chang [Nature] Resort is one of the many on the island that the fast boats can drop you at directly.
You'll know you are approaching the resort as you enter the narrow-mouthed, sheltered circular bay. The first pier on the left is yours, and we had a trio of staff running to meet us as we stepped ashore so that all the bags were carried to reception in double-quick time.
Arrival felt a little formal and somehow slightly awkward, but maybe that was just us. Unlike some places they did want to see a printed booking form, although there is free wi-fi, so if you are relying on an email that you haven't saved on your smartphone it's easy enough to access it.
The room choice is essentially one of three (or maybe four) seaview bungalows (A1 being the best) versus a decent number of garden ones, none of which seem to have much to choose between them.
We had C1 and it was airy, spacious and perfectly OK. Nothing special, a few cracks here and there, but fine for the money (probably the best value on the island in fact).
The air-con had no remote (which confused the porters) but operated from a wall control. It wasn't the most efficient, but it did the job. It does however go off from about 6am until the early evening (although the power stays on all day and there is a good fan).
In the bathroom you get a big area with an open-roofed shower. The shower 'cubicle' can't be closed though, so expect a few flying things flapping around the wash-basin if you leave the lights on.
The safe has a key rather than a code, which makes it solid and reliable. The mosquito net is big enough to cope with the size of the comfortable bed.
Outside there is a decking area. Some rooms get chairs, some don't -- ours didn't...but it's not likely you'd want to sit out anyway, as the 'garden' is a relatively dusty area shaded by tall trees.
If you decide to look inland from the resort then rent a scooter. I walked up to the nearest shop and café, and it was a half-hour round trip -- with not much to show for it.
Back down at the resort, the reception area and restaurant are on a small slope above the beach. As well as the free wi-fi there are also plenty of power sockets if you need to keep your laptop charged. Down the steps there is a small bar, a grassed section merging with a decking area full of sun loungers and the ever-present massage zone.
A nice touch each evening we were there was that at around 8pm a projection screen was dropped in front of the massage booth and a 'blockbuster' film was screened. We got to see The Gangs pf New York and Pulp Fiction to a backdrop of lapping waves. Just remember to pull up a chair close to the speakers or the sound may get drowned out by the surf.
The beach is non-existent at high tide as the sea comes right up to the decking. At low tide the sandy crescent bay is exposed and you can walk most of the way out to the end of the pier before getting much more than waist deep
To the right of the beach the sand gives way to rocks, and if you follow these out to sea there is good snorkelling to be found. This is enhanced by the fact that the resort replenishes the natural coral by 'seeding' new pieces (which they were in the process of doing just as we prepared to leave).
Kayaks are plentiful and free to use and if you do fancy a change of scenery there are a couple of other resorts just down the beach. However if you are only here for a few days there is no need to go elsewhere as the food is great and I can recommend the barbecue if you want a few days free of Thai-style cuisine.

Day 8 (Koh Kood เกาะกูด, also spelled Ko Kood or Koh Kut): Eastern Thailand Food and Travel Tour. Watch all 8 videos here:
This is Day 8 of my Eastern Thailand food and travel series. Our final destination was the island of Koh Kood (เกาะกูด), and one of the best islands and most beautiful in Thailand. From the water to the beaches, to the jungle, you’ll be in awe.
How to get to Koh Kood? We took the Boonsiri Ferry - 1,000 THB ($31.75) per person round-trip. It takes about 1.5 hours to get there.
On this one day guide of food and travel in Koh Kood (เกาะกูด), we hired a pickup truck to drive us around (Private vehicle - 2,000 THB ($63.50) whole day) to some of the famous sites, beaches, and restaurants. It was an amazing day.
The Sunshine Resort Koh Kood at Ao Phrao Beach (อ่าวพร้าว) - This is where we stayed for the first few nights in Koh Kood. A very nice relaxing quiet place.
Khao Saleun (ข้าวสะลื่น) - It doesn’t really have a name, but this small rice and curry restaurant serves great food in Koh Kood.
Mushroom curry (แกงเห็ดเสม็ด)
Chicken curry (แกงไก่บ้าน)
Total price - 100 THB ($3.17)
Old Tree 1
Old Tree 2
Klong Chao Waterfall (น้ำตกคลองเจ้า) - There are a number of tropical waterfalls on Koh Kood, and we went to Klong Chao, because of its big pool of water. It did start raining, but it was still fun.
Khao Reua Rub (เขาเรือรบ) - This is a shrine and there’s not much to see, but it’s interesting.
Bang Bao Beach (บางเบ้า) - This is one of the best beaches in Koh Kood and in Thailand. Crystal clear bathtub water.
Ao Yai Fisherman Village (บ้านอ่าวใหญ่) - One of the things I wanted to do most in Koh Kood was visit a fishing village to eat seafood. The village is great, and well worth checking out and exploring when you’re in Koh Kood.
Chonthicha Restaurant (ร้านชลธิชา) - There are a few different seafood restaurants, but we chose this one.
Squid with garlic (ปลามึกทอดกระเทียม)
Murex sashimi (หอยเงาะ)
Hoy pawk pad prik pao (หอยพอกผัดพริกเผา)
Shrimp pineapple curry (แกงคั่วสับปะรด)
Fried slipper lobster (กั้งกระดานทอดกระเทียม)
Total price - 1,360 THB ($43.18)
The most unique dish of the meal was Murex sashimi (หอยเงาะ), in Thai it’s called a Rambutan Shell, after the fruit.
Koh Kood (เกาะกูด) is the type of island where you can go to your resort and just not move, and that is great. But there are also some amazing things to do when you’re there as well, and I hope this video gives you some great ideas. Thank you for watching!
