বঙ্গবন্ধু জাতীয় স্টেডিয়াম ঢাকায় অবস্থিত বাংলাদেশের জাতীয় ও প্রধান স্টেডিয়াম। ঢাকার প্রাণকেন্দ্র মতিঝিল এলাকায় এটির অবস্থান। স্টেডিয়ামটি আগে এবং এখনও ১ নম্বর জাতীয় স্টেডিয়াম নামে পরিচিত ছিল। নাম পরিবর্তন করে বাংলাদেশের স্থপতি শেখ মুজিবর রহমানের সম্মানে এটির নামে বন্ধবন্ধু যোগ করা হয়।
আগে স্টেডিয়ামে সব ধরনের খেলাই অনুষ্ঠিত হত। কিন্তু বর্তমানে স্টেডিয়ামটিকে কেবল ফুটবল মাঠ হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হচ্ছে। এর ধারনক্ষমতা প্রায় ৩৬,০০০। ২০০৫ সালের ১লা মার্চ পর্যন্ত স্টেডিয়ামটি বাংলাদেশ ক্রিকেট দলের নিজস্ব মাঠ হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হত।
বঙ্গবন্ধু জাতীয় স্টেডিয়াম বিশ্বের একমাত্র স্টেডিয়াম যেটিতে দুটি ভিন্ন দেশের উদ্বোধনী টেস্ট ম্যাচ অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে। দুটি খেলাতেই প্রতিপক্ষ ছিল ভারত। প্রথম খেলায় ১৯৫৪-৫৫ সালে তৎকালীন অবিভক্ত পাকিস্তান দল ভারতের বিপক্ষে টেস্ট খেলার মাধ্যমে টেস্ট অঙ্গনে যাত্রা শুরু করে। এর ৪৬ বছর পর ২৬ জুন, ২০০০ তারিখে, বাংলাদেশ টেস্ট মর্যাদা পাওয়ার পর প্রথম টেস্ট খেলায় ভারতের মোকাবিলা করে।
ঢাকার প্রাণকেন্দ্রে অবস্থিত এই স্টেডিয়াম ও সংলগ্ন জাতীয় হকি স্টেডিয়ামের আশেপাশের এলাকায় এত বেশি লোকসমাগম হয় যে একে স্টেডিয়াম হিসেবে চেনা মুশকিল হয়ে পড়ে। এর একটি মূল কারণ স্টেডিয়ামের নিচ তলাকে ইলেকট্রনিক পণ্যের মার্কেট হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হচ্ছে।
ঢাকার অদূরে একটি নতুন ক্রিকেট স্টেডিয়াম নির্মাণের কারণে ২০০৪-০৫ মৌসুমে মাঠটি বাংলাদেশ ক্রিকেট বোর্ড থেকে বাংলাদেশ ফুটবল ফেডারেশনের কাছে বরাদ্দ দেয়া হয়।
