Bang Pu Seagulls In Samut Prakan
Hundreds of seagulls at the Bang Pu Recreation Centre, or Bangpu Nature Education Centre, in the Bang Pu district of Samut Prakan, Thailand.
The Ancient City & Bang Pu: Samut Prakan
Jammy Journey explores Thailand just outside of Bangkok with a fun trip to The Ancient City and Bang Pu in Samut Prakan. The Ancient City is a super cool place to walk or bike around, learning all about Thai culture and history. It is a huge place and not crowded. We really enjoyed taking pictures there and spending a day outside, but mostly out of the sun!
Bang Pu is a great place to interact with nature, since it provides a home for thousands of seabirds not normally seen in Thailand. The spectacle of these birds in flight around sunset is something you just have to see to appreciate! You can feed them by hand as they fly by. Bang Pu has a great restaurant with stunning water views. On Saturday nights, they also have ballroom dancing with a live band. It is a beautiful place full of real Thai culture.
Come with us on this day trip that is sure to put a smile on your face, like it did ours. You are invited!

3rd Asian Bird Fair 2012, Bang Pu, Thailand
The 3rd Asian Bird Fair is a regional get-together of Asian birdwatchers, conservationists, bird conservation bodies and those who are interested. This two-day event will be held at Bang Pu (also written as Bang Poo) Recreation Centre, Samut Prakan, Thailand.
Congratulations to Bird Conservation Society of Thailand and the Organisers for a successful event, glad to meet many friends from various Bird clubs and Nature Societies across Asia. Thank you gain from us Sandakan Borneo Bird Club and Sabah Tourism Board.
Bang Pu Recreation Centre is located approximately 20 km southeast of Bangkok. The theme of this year's Asian Bird Fair is Conservation of Threatened Species. It features exhibition booths from conservation partners and birding organizations, as well as suppliers of books, field equipment, optics and camera gear. The programme includes a series of discussions and field expeditions. We have experienced birders ready to help enhance your birding skills so there is something for everybody
Bang Pu Recreation Centre
Located on the shoreline of Bang Pu Mai subdistrict at approximately kilometre 37 on Sukhumvit Road, east of Samut Prakan town and opposite the Bang Pu Industrial Estate. The site holds a rest and recuperation facility for soldiers run by the Royal Thai Army, who have legal tenure of the 259 ha site. It also holds a Nature Education Center.
Bang Pu is famous because of its large wintering population of Brown-headed Gulls (Chroicocephalus brunnicephalus) that are relatively approachable as tourists have long been practicing feeding them by pork scratchings (Over the years no fewer than 13 species of gulls had been recorded at Bang Pu-more than any other site in SE Asia!). Bang Pu encompasses a variety of habitats including tidal mudflats, mangroves, brackish water and freshwater ponds and parklands which together serve as refuges and stopover sites for migratory species. It also holds sizeable breeding colonies of cormorants and herons. There are plenty of birdwatching opportunites, including looking for scarce landbird migrants from the mangrove nature trails and scanning for waders and gulls on the mudflats from a 500 m-long pier. Rarities recorded at Bang Pu include Christmas Island Frigatebird, Black-faced Spoonbill, Glossy Ibis, Indian Skimmer, River Tern, Mew Gull, Little Gull and Sooty Gull. Currently 66 species of resident birds, more than 124 species of migrant birds , over 58 species of fish, 30 species of ants and at least 40 muddy shore species including water snakes, mudskippers, fiddler crabs, shellfish, crustaceans and other benthic fauna. The population of Meder's mangrove crabs alone is thought to number over one million.
Spoon-billed Sandpiper
The most distinctive feature of this species is its spatulate bill.
Formerly classified as an Endangered species by the IUCN, recent research shows that its numbers are decreasing more and more rapidly and that it is on the verge of extinction.
Now, critically endangered, with a current population of fewer than 2500 -- probably fewer than 1000 -- mature individuals.Study suggests that hunting traditional bird trappers and land reclamation is a primary cause of the decline.
This species may become extinct in 10--20 years.
Important wintering areas include, Saemangeum, South Korea Yancheng in China, Mai Po Marshes in Hong Kong and Point Calimere, Coastal Myanmar, Chilka lake in India and Baan Pak Talay, Petchaburi Province,Thailand.

Seagulls@ Bangpu Recreation Center Thailand (Gopro first shoot 4K video)
Bangpu Recreation Center is on Samut Prakan's coast with the Gulf of Siam, and just to the east of the mouth of the Chao Phraya River.
It comprises a long pier stretching through coastal mangrove forests, at the end of which is a building complex with some rather dreary looking restaurants and a dusty, smelly entertainment center. But it is hugely popular with locals who come here to feed the seagulls, which are literally in their thousands.

My Uncle from Cambodia, where he lives in Thailand
VLOG 328 01/25 Day 2 of my Return to Cambodia series...we do a little exploring around the province, Samut Prakan, where my cousin lives. This area is mainly factories and warehouses and the migrant workers from Cambodia that work there. I learned that there are a lot of Khmer people from the village that I'll be staying at later on in my trip. We spent the day eating and talking, so not a whole lot of action, but it was good to catch up with my bongbros
