Banteay Chhmar Temple at Banteay Meanchey Province in Cambodia
During our trip to Banteay Meanchy Province, we also visited Banteay Chhmar Temple. This Temple is one of the most tourist attraction and tourist destination and a Cambodian historical site that built since 12th century by our Khmer King Jayvoraman 7th. Banteay Chhmar is located in Banteay Meanchey Province in the Northwest of Cambodia. This great temple is located at Thmar Pouk District, along National road 69A, and it's about 59 km. north of the Banteay Meanchey Province. Nowadays, the temple is damaged with trees growing and rush from rain and the changes of weather and because of war and bad guys who stole the temple statues & stones and sold them to Thailand and other countries in the world. Please enjoy a video i tried to walk in and capture most of the temple area.

The massive temple of Banteay Chhmar, along with its satellite shrines and reservoir (baray), comprises one of the most important and least understood archaeological complexes from Cambodia's Angkor period.
History
Like Angkor Thom, the temple of Banteay Chhmar was accomplished during the reign of Jayavarman VII in the late 12th or early 13th century. One of the temple's shrines once held an image of Srindrakumara rajaputra (the crown prince), probably a son of Jayavarman VII. More Info:

We can go to this temple from Phnom Penh. First, we travel by road No 5 with distance of 359 Km to Banteay Meanchey Province. Second, we travel by road No 56A from Sereysophorn town to the temple. It is located in Banteay Chhmar Commune and Thmar Puok district. Next, we visit inside of the temple. Indeed, it still has some good sculptures and may be attracted for tourist to visit.

In Angkor there is organised mass tourism - the temples are overcrowded. All the visitors follow the same routine and that means everybody goes to the same place at the same time.

The Khmer Rouge and the government were in this area, just to the east of Banteay Chhmar. As a result, there were many landmines in Banteay Chhmar - there are still a lot of unexploded landmines around here. Also, the road up here is very bad so it was hard for tourists to get to the temples at Banteay Chhmar.

So we've got the army here and they're all obviously paying obeisance to some high and mighty character, who must be in this section, and it's probably, although it's a bit dark, it's probably the King Jayavarman VII, I'm guessing.

The whole process is one of imparting knowledge and experience to these people on site and the ambition, really, is that we would eventually hand over a complete conservation unit of professionals - architects, archaeologists.

Like Angkor Thom, the temple of Banteay Chhmar was accomplished during the reign of Jayavarman VII in the late 12th or early 13th century. One of the temple's shrines once held an image of Srindrakumararajaputra (the crown prince), a son of Jayavarman VII who died before him.[1]:131-132 The temple doors record Yasovarman I's failed invasion of Champa.[2]:54
The long Old Khmer inscription found at the site (K.227), and now on display in the National Museum, Phnom Penh, relates how Prince Srindrakumara was protected on two different occasions by four companions in arms, once against Rahu, and once on a military campaign against Champa. Their four statues, with one of the prince, was placed in the central chapel.[3]:176,180
Another bas-relief states Yasovarman II was attacked by Rahu, but saved by a young prince.[3]:163

This is another interpretation of the carvings in Prasat Banteay Chhmar by Chao Kaing, where he tells us about the Khmer Prophecy related to nowadays. It may be that this relates to the recent event chasing away all the Chinese out of the country.... He shows us the different people to come who will bring the country to reign over 4 other countries...

It is unfortunate that some people don't understand that history is made up by mankind, especially when referring to ancient times, as there is an obvious lack of tangible proofs (i.e. documents which could have been destroyed with the fall of the Empire). Therefore, this interpretation, made by Chao Kaing, of the Khmer history is only another potential interpretation of the carvings left by our ancestors. Unlike other specialists, we aren't trying to make our ancient history fit into other's shoes/boxes (i.e. Indian history)...
We want to keep our channel and communication exchange as respectful as possible and don't force anybody to adhere to this interpretation. We won't tolerate any personal attack or insult on this channel.
