390,000 people put Jedi down as there religion (on the census). Obviously some people were doing it as a joke but it's quite clear from the emails we've had that a lot of people were serious when they put that down.

In some of the sermons and essays we read out we do incorporate some of the teachings of the films used by Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Qui-Gon Jinn and the likes, those are the references to the films we use. But we also like to expand on that and bring our own techniques and feelings and thoughts into the meetings.

Two glorious cycle ride descents from the Yorkshire Wolds, East Yorkshire
Two glorious cycle ride descents from the Yorkshire Wolds, East Yorkshire, well worth the steep climbs that preceded them. The Yorkshire Wolds is a stunningly beautiful part of Yorkshire and I'm always astonished that all the tourists head for either the Yorkshire Dales, Bronte Country, the North York Moors or York, missing the wonderful Yorkshire Wolds. Of course the bonus to us cyclists is that the roads are soooo quiet, once you get off the main A-roads to the East Coast. It's also great walking country, too.

Wales, UK
After two and a half days in southern England I was relieved to experience the freedom of Wales. No traffic, no speed cameras; just Brittan.
My first stop wasn’t until late in the evening when I made it to Cardiff. After spending the day at Stonehenge and Bath, I needed some dinner; I think I had a plate of meatloaf and mash with a pint of -1 °C Guinness before walking around the castle. I then drove on to Swansea to find a place for the night. Swansea was a smaller town than I expected (technically a city, since it has a cathedral), and I ended up at an over-priced Ibis; I stayed at a reasonably priced Ibis Budget in Southhampton the night before.
I got an early start toward Cilgerran the next morning. I’m too cheap to pay for phone service overseas, so I loaded the GoogleMap directions from the hotel internet before leaving in order to take the direct route rather than the highway along the coast. One of the craziest drives of my life. In rural southern wales the roads are in a trench, the sides of which are mowed by a tractor to keep from being overgrown (see video); so you can’t really see anything, but it’s cool anyways.
I had to make some u-turns to get back on the proper road; without GPS I would have been completely lost in that part of the country. I finally got to the small town of Cilgerran and toured the castle. Nice old ruined castle in a scenic location. Cilgerran is close to the west-coast of Wales, and the scenery began to open-up since I was driving along the coast rather than in a trench.
Heading north along the Wales coast I drove past some nice, and popular, beach towns before stopping for lunch in Aberystwyth. I had an amazing back-bacon burger and chips. This was my first chips experience; I was afraid that they would taste fishy, but they’re the best! Back-bacon (a.k.a. Canadian Bacon) is amazing on a burger. Before heading out of town I hit the local supermarket for bottled water, and grabbed a can of Smoked Bacon Pringles; best flavor ever.
I kept driving north until I got to Caernarfon late in the day, with almost two hours left to tour the castle before the 18:00 (6:00 PM) closing time. It’s more than a castle; there’s a giant town wall filled with shops, restaurants, pubs, inns and a playground for the kids. The castle is out of a fairytale; ‘Longshanks’ Edward I (1239 – 1307) may have been a complete bastard, but he knew how to build a castle. I climbed to the top of all, but one, of the towers; exhausting. After they closed the door behind me, I found some Italian dinner at a fancy-hipster-dufus place within the walls; a nice spicy meat pizza with peppers and some bright-green fancy pepper sauce and a local beer that was quite good.
I left Caernarfon in the hope of getting a room at the Travelodge Bangor that I found on the internet the night before, but thankfully it was sold-out; it was more like a truck-stop than a hotel, so I took a dump there. British toilets don’t work. The first dump I took in London didn’t flush at all. It was like magic; about 10 gallons (~40 Liters) of water went down the drain, yet the contents within the toilet were undisturbed.
I didn’t know what to do for a room since the internet said that the area was sold-out, so I just headed towards Conway. Conway is potentially even more amazing than Caernafon; another castle with a walled-in town. I spent about hour taking photos before heading back toward Bangor to try to find a room. Since I needed to take the ferry to Ireland from Holyhead the next day I headed to the ‘druid’ Isle of Anglesey and was lucky enough to find an amazing room at the Victora Hotel in Menai Bridge. The hotel had a bar, and I spent the evening talking with the bartender from Liverpool that was attending Bangor University to get his Electrical Engineering degree because his wife was there getting a PhD in Marine Biology and traveling the world giving presentations.
The next day I headed down the road to Beaumaris, a nice small coastal town. I spent over an hour touring the castle before rushing up to Holyhead to catch the ferry. While waiting for the ferry I ordered-up a Bacon Bap from the waiting lounge lunch counter. It was so good I had to get a second one. Back-bacon, butter and bread; genius.
Next-up… Ireland!
UK Weather: Storm Eleanor smashes into Britain
Thousands are left without power after Storm Eleanor smashed into Britain on Tuesday night with hurricane-force winds topping 97mph and torrential rain triggering 'danger to life' warnings across the country.Gusts of nearly 100mph were recorded near Connaught airport in Mayo, Southern Ireland, while the highest recorded winds in Britain hit Aberdaron in west Wales reaching 76mph.Poor weather conditions meant Irish Sea ferry crossings from Holyhead in Anglesey were cancelled while yellow and amber warnings have been issues across Britain. The amber wind warning, valid from 19:30 until 04:00, is in place for much of Northern Ireland.Experts warn this coupled with high tides, could cause large waves, leading to debris on sea fronts.Disruption could also be caused to transport and power supplies.Forecasters say there is a chance of injuries and danger to life, as well as minor property damage and disruption to power and other services. Many areas – including Cambridgeshire and along the Thames – face flooding until tomorrow, with the Environment Agency issuing 61 flood warnings across the country. It comes as a woman is fighting for her life in hospital after being caught by a freak wave while walking at the Lizard in Cornwall on New Year’s Day.On the same weekend, photographer James Pearce caught a man balanced on rocks surrounded by dangerous waves at Godrevy Lighthouse near St Ives.Moments later, just after the man had moved on, the rocks were submerged by the rising tide. The Met Office said: ‘Public transport may be disrupted or cancelled and some bridges are likely to be closed.Power cuts and disruption to other services – mobile phones for example – may also occur, while injuries from flying debris are possible.‘Combined with a period of high tides, it is likely that some western coastal communities will be affected by large waves and spray, and again there is a chance that injuries and danger to life could occur from large waves, or beach material being thrown.’ The Environment Agency warned that strong winds and waves could bring coastal flooding until tomorrow.Flood duty manager Neil Davies said: ‘We urge people to .take extreme care on coastal paths and promenades, and don’t put yourself in unnecessary danger trying to take “storm selfies”.’ Forecasters expect a return to ‘much colder’ conditions over the weekend with a risk of frost and ice, particularly in the north. The Met Office has issued several national severe weather warnings due to the potential for travel disruption. And the AA is expecting one of its busiest days of the year, and anticipates rescuing more than 18,000 drivers.Coastal roads and properties along Britain's western and southern coasts are vulnerable to high waves throwing beach material onto sea fronts, forecasters warned. The Environment Agency warned earlier that strong winds and high tides could bring coastal flooding from Tuesday until Thursday.Carol Holt, the Environment Agency's flood duty manager, said: 'We urge peo
