Amalfi Ristorante Italiano & Bar is one of the best restaurants in Houston. Located in west Houston, Amalfi Ristorante provides a wonderful experience.
The Amalfi Coast stretches for 30 miles along the southern coast of the Sorrentine Peninsula in Southern Italy.

There are some places that are so famous and so legendary that even before you set foot there, it feels familiar. The Amalfi Coast or “road of a thousand bends” is one such place. This route has attracted society’s rich and beautiful for thousands of years and inspired some of the world’s greatest artists and writers.

The area’s largest city, Amalfi is a great place to begin this legendary journey. A wealthy and powerful town during medieval times, merchants here were amongst the few who had gold coins to spend instead of the barter system used throughout the rest of Italy.

Visit the magnificent buildings that reflect that early wealth.

Positano is perhaps the best known destination on the coast. A favourite of celebrities since the 1950’s this town glitters with old-world glamour. From Marina Grande Beach, most of the paths lead right to the town centre and the Byzantine Santa Maria Assunta.

Visit the Terraces of Infinity, at Villa Combine, a view so stunning that the famous american writer, Gore Vidal called it “the most beautiful view in the world.”

Before it’s medieval glory days, the Amalfi Coast’s charms drew the Roman aristocracy.

With its endless sunshine, mediterranean colours and a landscape of gripping drama and breathtaking beauty, the Amalfi Coast truly is a legendary destination.

The Most Beautiful Medieval Villages Apricale and Dolce Acqua. Apricale, the oldest of all the hilltop villages of the valley Nervia, with statutes dating back to 1267. It was partly destroyed but rebuilt in 16th century during a period of falling out between the Grimaldi family of Monaco and the Dorians. The castle, it’s gardens, the museum with village history and square are all worthy of exploration. You may begin your tour at the bottom of the principal street, Via Angeli and walk up to the square or start at the top of the village and climb down San Bartolemeo to the piazza or park near the cemetery and walk the short and relatively level path (easier for pushchairs, wheelchairs and the feint hearted). Whichever approach you take the lanes, tunnels, arches and stairways transport you back to another age. Apricale is located about 120 kilometres (75 mi) southwest of Genoa and about 30 kilometres (19 mi) west of Imperia.
Apricale borders the following municipalities: Bajardo, Castelvittorio, Dolceacqua, Isolabona, Perinaldo, Pigna, Rocchetta Nervina, and Sanremo.

Dolceacqua, it has a lot to offer, the lovely medieval bridge painted by Monet, the main Dorian castle dating back to 12th century and some nice shops (don’t miss the atmospheric olive oil shop on the right hand side just as you are leaving the town going up the valley), cafes and restaurants. Around six in the evening people congregate in the little bars and cafes which put out snacks to encourage drinkers to hang about. A farmers market takes place on Thursdays and local produce festivals on the last Sunday each month throughout the year. This is also the nearest place with banks and cash machines. The hills above offer some nice walks through the orange and lemon groves and the parish church has an interesting 16th century painting.Don't miss the fabulous fireworks in mid August these are a real spectacle!

TRAVEL VLOG: AMALFI COAST (POSITANO, PRAIANO, RAVELLO)

Jess and Pete go meet...The Amalfi Coast. We start in Positano, then introduce you to the more affordable fishing village of Praiano, then show you how you can get luxury views for a bargain in Ravello. We can't all rent a Yacht like Beyonce and Jay Z, but at about 8:30 in, we'll show you how you can still take a beautiful boat tour without breaking the bank! MORE DETAILS...

HERE'S OUR TRAVEL RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE AMALFI COAST:
Where to stay:
Positano is the big tourist attraction and the idyllic town you will see on postcards of the Amalfi Coast, but hotels can be overpriced there. Having said that, we stayed one night at a little hotel called Punta Regina with a lovely deck and pool area with bar service high above the town (about 20 minute hike down stairs to the beach area). It was so relaxing to have a glass of aperol spritz with a side of olives, relaxing in the sun on the deck!
We LOVED the next town Praiano, which is less developed and has a lot more old world charm. We found staff there to be extra helpful, in part because I think they are trying to get their town on the tourist map. We stayed at a beautiful boutique hotel called Villa Gianlica, which I would HIGHLY recommend for a romantic weekend. Every single room at the hotel has a nice balcony or patio area overlooking the water. The property also has a nice pool, lounge chairs, hammock, reading area and garden where they pick fruit/vegetables for the morning breakfast.
AirBnB also has great options, but just be prepared hotels/homes are built essentially into the side of the mountain so you have to climb 20-30 minutes down to get to beach level.

What to eat:
- If you are staying in Praiano, you must visit IL PIRATA. Make reservations. The restaurant sits at the bottom of the mountain on the water (quite a hike down, but worth it!) and serves fresh fish and traditional Italian food. Go during sunset for a romantic dinner!
- When you are traveling around the Amalfi coast make sure to try limoncello (lemon-based hard liquor) and granita (lemon-ice)!

What to do:
If you can do a day or half day trip to Ravello. Most beautiful town! It looks like something out of a storybook and has beautiful gardens to visit. It sits high above the water over the town of Amalfi. You are basically in the clouds looking down at the vast sea.
Small boat tour along the coast. I think we paid about 40 euro a person to go on a 3-4 hour trip along the coast, passing every town and stopping for a swim. We used the company La Sabilla and departed from the Praiano beach, Via Marina di Praia (you basically hop on at the marina near the Il Pirata Restaurant).
Beach days in Positano and Praiano (Marina di Praia). Note- beaches are rocky. Renting chairs on the beach is about 10 euro. You can also bring your own towels.

How to get around:
You can rent a car, take public buses or hire a taxi. A taxi (black car) from the Naples train station to Positano is about 120-130 euro. We used a company called Luxury Limo Positano +39 089 811 012.
