STORYLINE:
Two warships have sailed into Hong Kong for the U-S Navy's first port call since a spy plane crisis raised tensions between Washington and Beijing.
China had barred American military port calls after a U-S spy plane collided with a Chinese fighter jet on April 1, as it did after NATO bombed the Chinese Embassy in Belgrade.
Bars, restaurants and shops that deal with visiting sailors lost a lot of business and some began to worry that their trade would suffer every time tensions escalate between the United States and mainland China.
The anti-mine vessels U-S-S Patriot and U-S-S Guardian docked in Hong Kong late on Thursday afternoon, each carrying 82 personnel.
Hong Kong has long been a popular port of call for U-S military ships, but after it was returned from Britain to China four years ago, such visits must be approved by Beijing, which is in charge of defence and foreign affairs.
Although only one warship - an anti-mine vessel carrying 1-thousand-400 personnel - was denied permission to dock after the spy plane crisis, the Chinese leadership refused requests for 10 U-S ships to stop here after the embassy bombing in May 1999.
Two days after the dismantled pieces of the U-S spy plane were flown out of China's Hainan Island earlier this month, Beijing granted permission for the Guardian and the Patriot to stop.
China's decision appeared to signal an easing of tensions over the collision that killed a Chinese pilot, but it also came just ahead of the International Olympic Committee's vote on which city can host the 2008 Olympics, which Beijing won.
Lt. Commander Bernard Gately said his crew from the Guardian planned to sightsee, shop and dine out, but he avoided discussing U-S-Chinese politics.

Underwater Meditation
Counting heartbeats, a great way to get in touch with your body. Standard procedure is a sauna followed by full immersion, recording number of beats, temperature, and ambient light.

*spontaneous visuals during meditation, possible psychic remnants of contact w/godparent. I perceived I was riding a blue rollercoaster track with two cylindrical bars and Y-shaped struts. At around 100 heartbeats someone turned out the pool light and the vision changed to a winged figure. I had the sense the figure was Mayan or Sumerian in origin. I could not see its face but the wings were colorful and moving.

*I had the conception I was submerged beneath meridian lake outside Crested Butte, sitting on the muddy floor with the tire swing above me, the sun was setting. When I emerged the first thing I heard were the crickets. The crickets sounded like a thousand diamonds being gently tumbled together. As I walked around the corner of the house to take my shower I noticed my cat was following me. Guardian-like behavior.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.

SUMMARY
=======
Robots and androids have frequently been depicted or described in works of fiction. The word robot itself comes from a work of fiction, Karel Čapek's play, R.U.R. (Rossum's Universal Robots), written in 1920 and first performed in 1921.
This list of fictional robots and androids is chronological, and categorised by medium. It includes all depictions of robots, androids and gynoids in literature, television, and cinema; however, robots that have appeared in more than one form of media are not necessarily listed in each of those media. This list is intended for all fictional computers which are described as existing in a humanlike or mobile form. It shows how the concept has developed in the human imagination through history.
Static computers depicted in fiction are discussed in the separate list of fictional computers.
