Gaganachukki falls and Barachukki falls in full flow | ShivanaSamudra falls | Steps Together
Shivanasamudra waterfalls or Gaganachukki and barachukki waterfalls are one of the most beautiful waterfalls closest to Bangalore and Mysore.
In this vlog we cover both Gaganachukki and Barachukki waterfalls during its furious flow days of August when the Kaveri river is in full flow.
Hogenakkal falls being another waterfalls near to Mysore and Bengaluru, Shivanasamudra is much closer than hogenakkal waterfalls and easily approachable.
Shivanasamudra is a small town in the Chamarajanagar District of the state of Karnataka.
It is situated on the banks of the river Kaveri, which forms here the boundary to the mandya District.
A common misconception about these waterfalls are that the left segment is called Gaganachukki and the right segment is called Bharachukki. In reality the Bharachukki falls is 15 kilometers to the south-west of the Gaganachukki falls y road. This is due to the Kaveri river itself splitting a few kilometers to the south into western and eastern branches. The western branch results in the twin waterfalls of Gaganachukki, whereas the eastern branch results in the Bharachukki falls. The Gaganachukki waterfalls are best viewed from the Shivanasamudra watch tower.
