Dhor Barahi Temple Tanahaun District Nepal

The Dhor Barahi Temple at Dhorphirdi Village in Tanahun was established. The bells in the temple date to 1876 AD.
A goddess Dhor Barahi is considered to have the power to fulfill her devotees wishes as such many animals are sacrificed . However, roosters are forbidden as sacrificial animals. Also, no sacrifice is performed during the festivals of Aunsi, Ramanavami, and Ekadashi. It is believed that this phenomenon is testament to the Goddess' power.

ढोर बाराही मन्दिरमा बेला बेलाम चमत्कार । लामा ठुला माछाको दर्शन गर्नुहोस् । DHOR BARAHI TEMPLE

तनहुँ जिल्लाको दुलेगौंडादेखि करिब पाँच किलोमिटर दक्षिणपश्चिम ढोरफिर्दी गाउँमा ढोर वाराहीको प्रसिद्ध मन्दिर छ । हिमवत्खण्ड पुराणमा समेत चर्चा गरिएको ढोर वाराही मन्दिरमा देवीको चतुर्बाहु मूर्ति छ । यहाँ शिवलिंगसहित गणेश र अन्य देवीदेवताका मूर्तिहरूसमेत छन् । ढोर वाराहीमा वि.सं. १९३३ सालदेखि चढाइएका घण्टहरूसमेत पाइन्छन् । हिमवत्खण्ड पुराणले समेत यसको महिमागान गरेको पाइने हुँदा ढोर वाराहीको स्थापना मध्यकालतिरै भएको मान्न सकिन्छ । यहाँ पशुबलि दिने भक्तजनको भीड सालैभर लाग्दछ । तर औंसी, रामनवमी र एकादशीमा बलि दिन पाइँदैन । यहाँ परेवा उडाउने तथा पाठापाठी र राँगाको बलि दिने चलन छ । कुखुराको बलि दिन भने यहाँ निषेध गरिएको छ । तनहुँ भेगमा मनोकांक्षा पूरा गराउने र मानवका आपत्विपत् दूर गर्ने देवीका रूपमा ढोर वाराही लिने गरिन्छ । ढोर वाराही मन्दिरमा रहेको कुण्डमा पहाडको खोंचबाट बेलाबेलामा आफैं पानी आउने र बग्ने गर्दछ, जसलाई दैवी शक्तिका रूपमा मानिने र लहरी छुट्ने भनिन्छ ।


The Dhor Barahi Temple at Dhorphirdi Village in Tanahun was established during the medieval era and the Goddess herself is mentioned in the Himavatkhanda Purana. The temple houses a four-armed idol of the Goddess along with idols of Ganesh and other gods. The bells in the temple date to 1876 AD.

As a goddess Dhor Barahi is considered to have the power to fulfil her devotees' wishes; as such, many animals are sacrificed to her every month. However, roosters are forbidden as sacrificial animals. Also, no sacrifice is performed during the festivals of Aunsi, Ramanavami, and Ekadashi.

Present within the temple premises is a pond which is watered by a spring that appears and begins to flow by itself. It is believed that this phenomenon is testament to the Goddess' power.
