Maiduguri, pia hujulikana Yerwa na wenyeji wake, [onesha uthibitisho] ni mji mkuu na mji mkubwa wa jimbo la Borno kaskazini mashariki mwa Nigeria. Mji yapo pamoja msimu Ngadda Mto ambayo kutoweka katika mabwawa Firki katika maeneo yanayozunguka Ziwa Chad. [1] Maiduguri ilianzishwa mwaka 1907 kama outpost ya kijeshi na Uingereza na tangu wakati huo imeongezeka kwa kasi kwa idadi ya watu mno milioni na 2007.
Mkoa alikuwa nyumbani kwa Kanem-Bornu Dola kwa karne nyingi. Maiduguri kweli lina miji miwili: Yerwa kwa nchi za Magharibi na Old Maiduwuri upande wa mashariki. Old Maiduwuri alichaguliwa na Waingereza kama makao yao makuu ya kijeshi wakati Yerwa alichaguliwa katika takriban huo huo na Shehu Abubakar Garbai ya Borno kuchukua nafasi Kukawa kama mpya mji mkuu wa jadi wa watu Kanuri. [1]
Maiduguri ni moja ya kumi na sita Serikali za Mitaa kwamba conMaiduguri inakadiriwa kuwa na idadi ya 1,197,497 kama ya 2007. [6] [kiungo wafu] Wakazi wake ni zaidi ya Waislamu ikiwa ni pamoja na Kanuri, Kihausa, Shuwa, Bura, Marghi, na makabila Fulani. Pia kuna idadi ya watu makubwa Mkristo na watu kutoka mataifa ya Kusini mwa kama vile Kiigbo, Ijaw, na Kiyoruba.

Maiduguri ina moja ya vyuo vikuu bora vifaa vya kutosha na hospitali nchini Nigeria: Chuo Kikuu cha Maiduguri kuvutia wanafunzi wa kigeni kutoka nchi jirani hasa Cameroon na Niger Jamhuri. Chuo cha Sayansi ya Matibabu ni miongoni mwa juu tano bora shule za matibabu nchini Nigeria. Taasisi nyingine ya juu ni pamoja na Ramat Polytechnic, Chuo cha Kilimo na Chuo cha Elimu, na El-kanemi Chuo cha Kiislamu Theolojia.
Kama ya 2011, baadaye Prowess Kiislamu Shule hutolewa bure, co-ed Magharibi na elimu ya Kiislamu kwa watoto yatima na wasiojiweza. [9]
