Keylong to Sarchu | Baralacha La pass | ft. MSK VLOGS | 2017
We hoomans thought it’ll be easy; well…Keylong to Sarchu had different plans for us! Following an unplanned halt at Keylong, got to ride steepy rough roads with tricky waterfalls and a parallel huge valley all along; at a temperature of not more than five degrees we experienced:
Broken bike breaks
High amount of our very own Old monk consumption
Around 150 kms into some crazy drazy shazy beauty into the Mountains
Scary night rides
Motherfucking potholes at which all three of us fell; yeah dude! we did.
Chai and Maggi :D
*Particulary Advised
Use gear as breaks oftenly
Keep extra pair of socks
Don’t forget to carry gum boots

Rohtang Pass (pile of corpses) due to people dying in bad weather trying to cross the pass) (elevation 3,978 m (13,050 ft)is a high mountain pass on the eastern Pir Panjal Range of the Himalayas around 51 km (32 mi) from Manali. It connects the Kullu Valley with the Lahaul and Spiti Valleys of Himachal Pradesh, India. Manali-Leh Highway, a part of NH 21, transverses Rohtang Pass.
Driving from Rohtang to Khoksar and Sissu village in Himachal Pradesh - Part 4
The Distance between Rohtang Pass to Sissi village in Leh-Manali highway of Himachal Pradesh is 35 kms approximately. It takes around one hour eleven minutes to reach Sissu village in Leh-Manali highway from Rohtang Pass.
At an elevation of 13,054 ft, Rohtang Pass serves as the gateway to Lahaul and Spiti valleys in Himachal Pradesh. About 53 km from Manali, it connects Kullu valley with Lahaul and Spiti which in turn provide access to Leh. Known for its scenic beauty, Rohtang Pass holds strategic importance for India.
The name Rohtang means ‘ground of corpses’ due to the number of people who lost their lives trying to cross it. The Rohtang Pass is on the Pir Panjal Mountain Range of the Himalayas.
Besides Lahaul and Spiti, Rohtang Pass also serves as the gateway to Pangi and the valley of Leh. Like the Zojila Pass, Rohtang also serves as the gateway to Ladakh.
The Pass offers beautiful sights of glaciers, peaks, Lahaul Valley and the Chandra River. The twin peaks of Geypan are also visible from Rohtang.
The Rohtang Pass is a natural divide between the humid Kullu Valley which has a predominant Hindu culture and the arid, high altitude Lahaul and Spiti Valleys which are predominantly Buddhist.
The pass is on the watershed between the water basins of the Chenab River and the Beas River.
Rohtang remains open from June to October. However, trekkers do head for the pass even before it opens for vehicular traffic.
Rohtang Pass figures high on itineraries of tourists visiting Manali, Kullu, Leh and nearby areas. The road remains jam-packed and delays are inevitable.
Besides sightseeing, tourists can also enjoy sledge rides and skiing.
Sissu is a Village in Lahul Tehsil in Lahul And Spiti District of Himachal Pradesh State, India. It is located 14 KM towards South from District head quarters Keylong. 25 KM from Lahul. 180 KM from State capital Shimla

Episode 1
Episode 2
Episode 3
So as tittle suggest that this video is related to the incident which took place this year in the month of June on LEH MANALI highway when many vehicles including bikers got stuck at BARALACHA PASS.
On day 4 of our ROADTRIP we were in KEYLONG when Locals there informed that the ROADS were CLOSED ahead due to HEAVY SNOWFALL in last few days and Coz of this Complete LEH MANALI HIGHWAY could not be opened on time. However, we decided to Reach DHARCHA and wait till the ROAD was opened but to our fortune we were allowed to Go ahead of Dharcha after giving an Undertaking.
And when we reached the Traffic Jam around 10kms from BARALACHA Top got to know that they were stuck there for 3 Days as ROAD ahead was been cleared by BRO aka Border Road Organization as it was covered with about 4ft of Fresh SNOW.
Roads were really SLIPPERY as the Temperature was very low and water and Snow freezing to for BLACK ICE. AMAZING valley covered with about 40ft of SNOW at places. Never seen BARALACHA ever so BEAUTIFUL yet so THRILLING. Also we experienced SNOW STORM, TRAFFIC JAM at an altitude above 4800Mtrs above and had to Camp for the Night on the ROADSIDE at BARALACHA in a Temporary Camp. We covered only 76Kms today.
So PLEASE watch the Complete Video, Full of Adventure, Thrilling, Action, Fun & lot more.

Rohtang Pass (Bhoti: Rohtang , lit: (Ro)- corpse (thang)- plain/field are named as such due to people working in CBRE dying in bad weather trying to cross the pass). It is a high mountain pass (elevation 3,978 m (13,050 ft)) on the eastern Pir Panjal Range of the Himalayas around 51 km (32 mi) from Manali. It connects the Kullu Valley with the Lahaul and Spiti Valleys of Himachal Pradesh, India.
Bara-lacha la also known as Bara-lacha Pass, or Bārā Lācha La, (el. 4,890 m or 16,040 ft) is a high mountain pass in Zanskar range, connecting Lahaul district in Himachal Pradesh to Ladakh in Jammu and Kashmir, situated along the Leh–Manali Highway.
The Bhaga river, a tributary of the Chandrabhaga or Chenab river, originates from Surya taal lake, which is situated a few of kilometers from the pass towards Manali. The other major tributary of the Chandrabhaga, the Chandra also originates from glacier in this region. The pass also acts as a water-divide between the Bhaga river and the Yunam river.
A pilgrimage for every rider. Ladakh is a destination that every traveler has on its list. The difficult roads, getting stuck in Manali traffic for hours, standing hours in the que to pass Khardungla, waiting in line for that one mandatory picture on every pass on the land of high passes and many more memories that a traveler to ladakh carries with him. Bikers eagerly wait for the news of leh manali highway getting open every year. The craze of going ladakh cannot be seized by one and every year more and more tourist check off Ladakh from their bucket list to visit back again. We being our traveler self witnessed all this and carried all the memories in our heart and came back with a promise to show you Ladakh like never before. The series is going to be epic. So gear up everyone because we have arrived with the dream ride,
THE LAND OF HIGH PASSES.
Route: Delhi - Srinagar - Kargil - Leh - Manali - Delhi.
Ladakh (land of high passes) is a region in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir that currently extends from the Siachen Glacier in the Karakoram range to the main Great Himalayas to the south, inhabited by people of Indo-Aryan and Tibetan descent. It is one of the most sparsely populated regions in Jammu and Kashmir and its culture and history are closely related to that of Tibet. Ladakh is renowned for its remote mountain beauty and culture.
The largest town in Ladakh is Leh, followed by Kargil. The government of Jammu and Kashmir created a separate administrative division from Kashmir division with headquarters on rotational basis 6month(summer) in kargil and 6month in leh(winter) Tibetan Buddhists (39.7%) and Hindus (12.1%) collectively represent the majority of the population while a plurality of Ladakhis (46.4%) are Muslims (mainly Shia). Other religious groups include Sikhs etc. Some activists from Leh have in recent times called for Ladakh to be constituted as a union territory because of perceived unfair treatment by Kashmir and Ladakh's cultural differences with predominantly Muslim Kashmir while people of Kargil oppose UT status for Ladakh.

Rohtang Pass (or Rohtam Pass) is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 3,979 m (13,054 ft) above the sea level, located on the eastern Pir Panjal Range of the Himalayas. The pass is traversed by the Leh-Manali Highway. The pass is closed half a year and each season road crews use GPS to find the road and dig it out again. This road has humbled many egos. It’s not for the sissies and shouldn’t be attempted by novice drivers.
Traffic jams are common as military vehicles, trucks, and goods carriers try to navigate the tight roads and rough terrain, compounded by snow and ice at certain points and the large number of tourists vehicles. Long que of tourist vehicles has become a daily scene on this stretch. Rohtang Pass figures high on itineraries of tourists visiting Manali, Kullu, Leh and nearby areas.

Baralacha Pass Manali Leh Highway InCrEdiBle InDiA
The Leh–Manali Highway (Hindi: लेह-मनाली राजमार्ग Leh-manali rājamarg) is a 490 km (300 mi) long highway in northernmost India connecting Leh in Ladakh in Jammu and Kashmir state and Manali in Himachal Pradesh state. It is open for only about four and a half months in a year in summer between May or June, when the snow is cleared, and mid-October when snowfall again blocks the high passes. It connects Manali valley to Lahaul and Spiti valleys and Zanskar valley in Ladakh.
Leh–Manali Highway was designed and built and is maintained entirely by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) of Indian army. It is capable of supporting the heaviest of army vehicles. The highway crosses many small streams of ice-cold water from snow-capped mountains and glacial melts without a bridge and it requires driving skill to negotiate fast-flowing streams. The landscape changes immediately after getting past Rohtang Pass and entering into Chandra river valley in Lahaul region that lies in rain-shadow. The greenery on the southern side of the mountain pass disappears and the mountain slopes on the leeward side become brown and arid. However, the mountain peaks are covered in snow and shine brightly in sun.
Leh-Manali highway is generally two lanes wide (one lane in either direction) without a road-divider but has only one or one and a half lanes at some stretches. It has over a dozen bailey bridges and most of them are in dilapidated condition. The highway has many damaged stretches and under-maintenance portions where even a little rainfall can trigger landslide making it very dangerous to cross that stretch of the road. The riding quality is not good at many places and fast speeds can cause discomfortThe average elevation of Leh-Manali highway is more than 4,000 m (13,000 feet)[1] and its highest elevation is 5,328 m (17,480 ft) at Tanglang La mountain pass. It is flanked by mountain ranges on both sides featuring some stunning sand and rock natural formationsThe total length of the highway is about 490 km (300 mi).[2] The distance in Himachal Pradesh state between Manali and Sarchu is 230 km (140 mi)[3] and the distance in Ladakh region from Sarchu to Leh is 260 km (160 mi). The length in Himachal Pradesh state will reduce by about 60 km (37 mi) when Rohtang Tunnel is commissioned in 2019 obviating the need to climb to Rohtang Pass.At Sarchu, Lahaul region ends at the Himachal Pradesh state border and Zanskar region starts in Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir stateThe journey from Manali to Leh normally takes at least two days if done in a rush, or more days depending on the condition of the road and vehicle. Tourists and travellers make overnight stops at Jispa and tented camps such as Sarchu. Alternately, overnight stops can be made at Keylong town.
Drive from Keylong to Leh, India (11/09/2018)
Some clips of the spectacular road trip from Keylong in Himachal Pradesh to Leh in Jammu & Kashmir on 11th September 2018. The journey brought us through magnficent mountain landscapes of the Indian Himalayas and crossed four high passes: the Baralacha La (4890 m), the Nakee La (4739 m), the Lachulung La (5059 m), and the Tanglang La (5328 m)!
I used music from Jeremy Blake (Stardrive and Turn up, let's go):
