Christ Church Parish Church Barbados
Christ Church Parish Church
Location : Oistins Christ Church
Date Built: 1835
Historical Significance
Although the present church was built in 1935 ; it is the 4th site -the previous ones being destroyed by hurricane , fire or flood . The 1st church was a wooden structure built in another location near to the coast of Dover , Christ Church around 1629. It was destroyed in 1669 by a flood . The 2nd church which was destroyed by a hurricane of 1870 , was constructed in the current location overlooking Oistins . A 3rd church built after 1786 , also suffered the same fate in 1831. Construction of the 4th church began in 1835 with the corner stone being laid by the Bishop of the Diocese. Sadly , whilst preparations were in progress to celebrate the 100th anniversary of that building , a fire would cause its demise again. Today the 5th building stands on that second site , proudly displaying 3 of the walls retained from the burnt church & its western tower . The Christ Church Parish Church is best known for its famous Chase Vault , in which coffins mysteriously move around within the sealed vault.

Atlantis Cattlewash
The Atlantis Hotel is located in Tent Bay, St. Joseph and was one of the first hotels to exist on the East Coast of Barbados. This was made possible by the new railway line that was constructed in 1883 which lead to the East Coast (Belleplaine area). Prior to the completion of the Barbados railway, travelling across this beautiful tropical island was very difficult as the only mode of transport back then was by horse and cart.
Rockley Beach Barbados
This video is shot at Rockley Beach in Barbados. Rockley Beach is on the south side of Barbados.
Rockley Beach, also called Accra Beach, is located in the parish of Christ Church, in the southern part of the country, 5 km southeast of the capital Bridgetown.
it is a perfect excursion destination but there are also several hotels on the beach where you can live as a king or queen. :-)
We also made a quick stop on the Worthing Beach. Worthing Beach is also located in the parish of Christ Church, along the south coast of the island.
The climate in Barbados is tropical, with a rainy season lasting from June to October. Hurricanes occur at irregular intervals. However, due to the island's location, it is not affected by hurricanes and other tropical storms as often as one might think, as it lies just east of the hurricane belt.
The biggest environmental problems are that the coastal water is polluted by ship waste, that garbage is dumped where there is a risk of drinking water pollution and soil erosion.
Barbados is one of the most developed countries in the Caribbean with a regionally high per capita GDP. The health care and education sectors are of a relatively high standard.
The country's economy depended on sugar, rum and molasses for most of the 20th century. During the 1990s, tourism and the manufacturing industry became economically more important than the sugar industry. In order to reduce unemployment, the government encourages foreign investors. The Mount Gay distillery, founded in 1703, is still operating on the island.
Financial services and light manufacturing are important industries that have passed the traditional sugar industry, which remains mostly as raw material for rum making, which has, however, increased.
Continued economic development is strongly dependent on the US and Europe economy.

Accra and Rockley Beach, BARBADOS :Travel Vlog
The gorgeous Accra Beach / Rockley Beach is a very popular hang-out for locals and tourist on the south coast of Barbados. It attracts all ages, while offering activities and services to accommodate almost everyone.
This lovely beach has small to moderate waves, clear waters, not too much undertow and is ideal for Body Surfing, Boogie Boarding and snorkeling. The many facilities at Accra include a Play-park, beach bars, umbrella & chair rentals and a food court. It is also an excellent spot for shopping for beach accessories and art & craft souvenirs, as well as providing Hair Braiding services.
Snorkeling is best at the southern end of the beach while other watersports are provided near the northern end.
All facilities and amenities are located in one area near the entrance and parking area. Close by, there are lots of varied accommodations, restaurants and shopping.
Rockley Beach / Accra Beach is located on the Caribbean side of the island, on the South Coast of Barbados in the parish of Christ Church.
Rockley Beach is a family-friendly, 300-metre curl of white sand, washed by the bath-warm waters of the Caribbean Sea. With beach bars and huts dotted along the sand, where fried fish and ice-cold Banks beers are bestsellers, you never have far to walk. Behind the sand are wooden stalls selling Bajan crafts in the shade of casuarina trees. And from the north end of the beach, adrenaline-charged watersports are ten-a-penny.
The coastal road that runs through Rockley is known simply as Highway 7. Lining both sides of the tarmac are family-run restaurants serving Bajan and Creole cuisines. Joining them is the Quayside Shopping Plaza, which does a fine line in local crafts and clothes. And just north of the strip is the 9-hole Rockley Golf Course, where some of the island’s finest fairways are found.

Barbados - from Dawn Until Sunset : The Crane, Bathsheba, Platinum Coast & Island Tour
A short film of our recent holidays to Barbados in 2016/2017. A simulated day from Dawn until Dusk - taking in the best of Barbados. A truly stunning island - so welcoming, fun and friendly - we just want to go back.
Starting at sunrise on Crane Beach - we watch as the sun rises and warms up the day, and the early beach dwellers, before exploring the grounds of the historic (The) Crane hotel. In complete contrast, next we make a visit to the Buccaneer Sam Lord's derelict Castle and it's pair of beaches to admire the surging tide.
Unlike it's name, the glorious Foul Bay is next, with it's long and wide golden beach before we move to the picture postcard beauty of Bottom Bay - swaying palms, azure sea and pounding surf.
A quick pitstop at Sunbury Plantation House before we move to Hastings and a walk along The Boardwalk. Next up, we visit Bridgetown for a stroll around the shops.
We next find ourselves at the Garrison Historic Area and the Garrison Savannah horse racing venue - where we study the form and win a few dollars. Once over, we move over to the George Washington House - where we learn about his visit to Barbados - and move through the tunnels beneath.
A quick visit to Carlisle Bay for beach games and wine at The Barbados Cruising Club before we visit the historic defences at Needhams Point.
After some beautiful 'best-of' scenes - we move to the rugged, unspoilt Eastern coast of Barbados, and the parish of St Andrew. Here we pass the windswept, desolate beaches of the east as we make our way to the jewel of the East Coast : Bathsheba, in St Joseph. Here we see the worn flanks of the rock formations that have been eroded by the waves. A glorious view.
We move back up the coast, past the Morgan Lewis Windmill, to the view from Cherry Tree Hill - a splendid view across all of the East Coast - before continuing north into St Lucy and a visit to Archers Bay and the Cliffs at the Animal Flower Cave.
Next, we visit Folkestone Marine Park and stroll along the beach towards Holetown - skipping between the waves as the tide teases the shore.
A shady afternoon visit to the beautiful Hunte's Gardens keeps us cool as we admire his collection of plants cultivated in a large sink hole. A quick beer with Anthony Hunte (and his dog) - before we move on.
The classic palm tree, golden sand and Caribbean surf awaits as we visit St Peter's Bay before taking in some views of Cobblers Cove as we approach Speightstown - and beyond to Port St Charles and Heywoods Beach.
A quick cooling trip through the beautiful flora and fauna of Welchman Hall Gully is next - a lovely walk through palms, bamboo and vines - before returning to the Platinum Coast for sunset and wine.
Magical.
This is a small film by The Cobbie made on his phone. I hope you enjoy my view of the island. Original Soundtrack Some Bajan Dawn - Written & Performed by The Cobbie: Apple Logic & Korg Trinity Pro x. No Loops.
