Rolling Dachshund Pull Toy
Wooden Dachshund toy made by Delmar Eby of London, KY. Offered in the Fort St. Clair Kennel Club Raffle.
Delmar, a father of six, began making toys while teaching at a private school. Making toys was a way for his son to have something to occupy his time in the evenings. Although Delmar's skills are basically self-taught, both his father and grandfather liked to work with wood. He comments, Perhaps it's in our blood!
What began as a hobby in 1989 has grown into a full-time business. The Eby's toys are functional and are constructed completely with wood using very little hardware. Most of the wood used to construct their toys is obtained locally, with the exception of cedar and mahogany. Their items are finished with a natural oil that is non-toxic.
The Ebys are members of the Kentucky Craft Marketing Program.

The Best Small Town Main Street in America
The best small town Main Street in America can be found in Illinois. The former rip-roaring lead-mining town of Galena once produced almost 85% of the nation’s lead, and was the busiest Mississippi River port between St. Louis and St. Paul, a bustle bigger than Chicago. Now, it charm lies in the preservation of its past, one which Galena proudly embraces.
Galena has been cited as having “The Best Small Town Main Street in America,” because it looks like a movie set idealization of Norman Rockwell’s home. Of course, the actual movie theater appeared in the movie Field of Dreams. By the middle of the 19th Century, Galena was one of the richest river towns in the Midwest. But when the lead ran out and the Galena River silted up, the town went into a century-long dive. The townsfolk became too poor to tear anything down. That, it turns out, was its salvation, and today the town appears pretty much as it did when Ulysses S. Grant worked in his father's store on the red-hued street.
Now, that preserved-in-aspic quality is the lodestone, the touro-dollar draw. The street is exuberant with boutiques, bars, reliquaries, art galleries, cafes, ghost tours, trolleys, locals sporting thick, black Ulysses S. Grant beards, and shops specializing in everything “craft.” The old brown brick buildings host handcrafted jewelry, homemade fudge, artisanal cheese, hand-sewn clothing, self-published books, in-house roasted coffee, immaculate confections, stove-popped gourmet popcorn, and, of course, craft beer.
Tattoo Shops In Louisville KY - Truths Tattoos
Tattoo Shops In Louisville KY -
Truth began taking the art of drawing with pencil on paper at the age of 8. Over the next 3 years he would take a keen interest in angelic and demonic concepts, which were inspired by the cartoons of that generation.
By middle school he was enrolled, by his sister Stephanie, in the Louisville Visual Arts Associations children's free art class. Here, Truth took a formal transition from drawing as a hobby to drawing as a way of life. Ms Bethel introduce Truth to the realism. Over the next 5-6 years Truth would then study with various other master artists in the LVAA Program at the Preston Arts Center and at the Louisville Water tower. These artists helped to improve his skills in areas such as drawing. Painting, ceramics, plaster, airbrush, and cartooning. He also took on a job at Mayor Summer scene.
Truth graduated from DuPont Manuals Visual Arts Department and went on to U of L to major in fine arts with an emphasis in painting.
In 2008 Truth began applying his knowledge of the fine arts with the body art style of the day, tattoo. While studying closely under Travis King at Body Art Emporium, he quickly discovered the trend that this new art form was becoming and since then Truth has taken his skill and inspiration into various cities in the country taking on guest spots at various shops in the area.
As an artists my goal is to invoke a physical or emotional response with the viewers of my work. I'm not a tattoo artists but rather an Artist that does Tattoos!
Louisville, Kentucky is host, each year, to one of the biggest parties in the nation. Although many who have never attended the Kentucky Derby might not know it, Louisville can be a serious party town when the citizens put their collective minds to it. And, as one might suspect, a place that can party as well as Louisville is also a sort of magnet for the body art scene. There are numerous tattoo parlors located in the Louisville area, including some of the best places in the state.
-Tattoo Charlie's of KY-
1845 Berry Blvd.
Louisville, KY 40215
(502) 366-9635
Tattoo Charlie's of KY is definitely the most well-established tattoo franchise in Louisville. Along with the Berry Boulevard location whose address is listed above (it's the oldest and arguably the nicest of the locations) there are also Tattoo Charlie's shops on Preston Highway and Dixie Highway. There's even another location in Lexington, Kentucky. Why so many locations? Basically it all comes down to the fact that local body art enthusiasts just can't get enough of this wonderful parlors tattoo and piercing services. Tattoo Charlie's does Flash designs along with custom work and each location has several talented artists and piercers around to help customers.
-Twisted Images, Inc.-
1223 Bardstown Rd.
Louisville, KY 40204
(502) 473-7400
Twisted Images is probably the most artistic tattoo shop anywhere in Louisville. Although the two main tattoo artists Rodney and Karl also have apprentices working from time to time, it's best to stick to the pros here because both of them do amazing work. Everyone at Twisted Images, from the tattoo artists to the guy who greets you when you walk in the door, are extremely friendly. In fact, this place gives seminars for families and individuals about body art, body modification, what getting a tattoo is like, and all kinds of other helpful things. All in all this is a great place to check out if you're in the market for a new tattoo or piercing.
-Acme Ink-
2007 Bonnycastle Ave.
Louisville, KY 40205
(502) 451-2810
Acme Ink is a relatively new Louisville tattoo parlor that's been experiencing explosive growth to its business. In fact, in 2006 Acme had to move to a new, bigger location just to be able to facilitate the number of clients who were clamoring to get tattoo work done there. All of this growth and hype is the result of the truly impressive custom tattoo work that is produced at Acme. Although the prices might be relatively high, especially when compared to non-custom tattoo rates, customers here definitely get their money's worth.

Downtown Paris | Kentucky Life | KET
A visit to Main Street in downtown Paris finds food, drink and a number of historic buildings revitalized through local preservation efforts.
Paris isn't just in Bourbon County—now it's in Bourbon Country once again. For the first time since Prohibition, a distillery has opened in Paris: The Gentleman, owned by Andrew Buchanan and Curtis Mackley. In addition, Paris's first microbrewery, Rooster Brewing, owned by Ralph Quillin, has opened on Main Street.
We also stop by Clay's Downtown Restaurant, a dining spot that is popular with the horse industry crowd. The antiques and gallery district on Main Street features 10 museums, antique shops and galleries in six blocks. Our visit wouldn't be complete without a look inside Loch Lea Antiques and a cup of coffee at Lil's Coffee Place.

With its abundance of artists, galleries and museums, Paducah is widely considered one of Kentucky's most creative communities. The town sought and received a UNESCO designation as a City of Crafts and Folk Art.
The heart of Paducah is its downtown. From the earliest explorations of Kentucky's Western Waterlands region, the confluence of the Ohio and Tennessee rivers brought people to Paducah's riverfront and the city grew from its banks.
Home to the National Quilt Museum, fiber artists around the country come here each April for the American Quilter's Society Annual Quilt Show and Contest. Downtown is also home to the Yeiser Art Center, Maiden Alley Cinema, the Carson Center, and the Paducah School of Art.
