A Day In Placencia - episode 2

Episode 2 of the YouTube series A Day In Placencia, with the theme Businesses Of Placencia.

A Leslie Tech Video Services project. Once a month we will send our photographer, Marneesha Leslie, to walk around the village and snap candid photos. Leslie Tech Video Services will then turn the photos into a video slideshow for the world to enjoy.

Background: Marneesha Leslie is my 17 year niece who is aspiring to be a professional photographer. To encourage her and help her develop her skills, I started this project, which I am hoping it will accomplish two things: 1. develop her photography skills and 2. Showcase Placencia to the world.

This project is non-profit.

May 27, 2008 Fire breaks out in Placencia Belize, C.A.

This is a 5 min. clip of the historic fire that almost took Placencia Village (Pennisula) on the coast of Belize, C.A.
The fire broke out late in the evening at the Space Monkey and was finally detained in about 1 hour, thanks to some quick work by the residents which included Machete's, Pick Axes, Shovels and other elements to try and get water to douse the fire. Can you imagine your town that is surrounded by Water, being destroyed by Fire???? How ironic!!!

There has been much discussion about the need for a permenant Fire Department, as although rare.....you simply never know, yet even today, the people and the Government still have not resolved what many would be common sense - GET A FIRE DEPARTMENT!!! otherwise the jewel known as Placencia will forever be in peril.

Wendy's Restaurant Placencia, Belize

While spending our vacation at Barnacle Bill's Beach Bungalos in Maya Beach, Belize we went to the vast metropolis of Placencia in Belize CA for lunch. Bill Taylor of Barnacle Bills jokingly refers to Placencia as the 'Big City' where it's crowded and hot and has constant traffic jams. There is only one dirt road that runs down the center of town and Wendy's Restaurant is found towards the far end. They offer traditional Belizian dishes cooked by Wendy herself. It is a lovely place with a cool shaded porch, cold beers, great service and excellent food.
We were brave and tried the Conch Fritters, Gibnut Stew and Fish Taco. All of them were excellant. Well, the gibnut,... see next video.
