Indiana Dunes & Michigan City
Michigan City is one of our go-to places when we want to get out of town for a few hours. The town is better known for its outlet mall, but there are many more interesting spots to check out, starting with the Indiana Dunes State Park, just a short drive away. This is a gorgeous park to visit during the summer or fall. It has beautiful and challenging trails and a very popular beach. Our advice is to get there early because it can get packed. Around town, you can also check out the Barker Mansion and the Lighthouse. We also like to drive along the lakeshore. When it’s time to eat, head to Stop 50 for some tasty wood fired pizza made with lots of local ingredients. They also have great local brews and a super relaxing atmosphere.
