Barleycove Beach
Aerial footage of Barleycove Beach, West Cork.
Barleycove Beach is said to be one of the best beaches in West Cork, if not Ireland. It is situated close to Mizen Head on the Mizen Peninsula, with Crookhaven, Goleen or Schull being the nearest villages. The area surrounding Barleycove is one of natural beauty and is very popular during the summer months. The beach itself has been designated as a Special Area of Conservation by the European Union, due to the variety of wildlife and interesting habitats present in the sand dunes. The sand dunes at Barelycove were produced by the effects of the 1755 earthquake in Lisbon.

Barley Cove is located between the headlands on the Mizen Peninsula in West Cork. It is quite a remote area, ideal for family beach with an extensive dune system set in a wild and beautiful scenery. The beach has received the International Blue Flag Award for 2019.

Explore Cork - Ballydonegan Beach
When standing on the coarse white sand of Ballydonegan beach in Allihies on a glorious summer's day you could be forgiven for thinking you're in a different country. It's true to an extent.
A solid two and a half hour journey from the city centre, Allihies is one of the county's most south westerly outposts on the tip of the Beara Peninsula and the perfect place to find tranquillity after a hard week. It's not somewhere people from the eastern half of the county would go for a daytrip but Beara is full of B&Bs and to make it even easier there's a camp site less than a stone's throw from the beach itself.
