Barmer district is a district in the Indian state of Rajasthan. The district headquarters is in Barmer city. It is located in the western part of Rajasthan, part of the Thar Desert. The district of Badmer is spread over an area of 28,387 km square. It is the fifth largest district in India by area.
Barmer district shares its borders with Jaisalmer, Jalore and Jodhpur districts. Being a desert, there is a lot of variation in temperature. Temperatures remain up to 51 ° C in summer and 0 ° C in winter. Barmer is also known for its carved wooden furniture, hand printing industry, folk music and dance.
The district is divided into 4 sub divisions i.e. Barmer, Balotra, Shiv and Guda Malani. Which further has 14 tehsils like Barmer, Ramsar, Baytu, Gida, Shiva, Gadarrod, Gudmalani, Sindhari, Dhorimanna, Chohatan, Sedwa, Siwana, Samadhari and Pachpadra. According to the 2011 census, the district has a population of 26,03,751. Barmer district has a sex ratio of 902 females for every 1000 males.
Currently, the Barmer Lok Sabha constituency consists of eight Legislative Assembly constituencies. These are: Jaisalmer, Shiv, Barmer, Baytu, Pachpadra, Siwana, Gudha Malani and Chohatan.
Barmer is famous for its historical monuments and temples. The city is very famous for the temple of Goddess Jagadambe. Chintamani Parshwanath Jain Temple, Juna Fort, Lord Shiva Temple, Brahma Temple Balotra, Asotara, Jogmaya Temple, Mahabar Tibba, Surya Temple, Kher Temple, Viratra Mata Temple, Kiradu, Nakoda, Nimbari, Pipa Temple, Bhimgowda, Mahadhar Temple are some of the top attractions of the district.
Barmer Thar Festival is a very important festival of the district, it is organized every year by the district administration and district tourism department. The festival showcases the local arts and crafts tradition of Barmer.
Education
The literacy rate of the district is 56.53%. Saint Paul Senior Secondary School, The Modern School, Govt. Senior Secondary School, Delhi Public School, KENDRIYA VIDYALAYA, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Madhav college, Govt.P.G.College, Govt. Medical College, Government Engineering College are the leading educational institutions in the district.

Barmer is well connected to other districts of Rajasthan via road. The nearest airport is at Jodhpur. Which is 220 km from here. Barmer railway station is the major railway station in the district which is well connected to other cities in India.

Barmer - Rajasthan Tourism
Barmer is among the larger districts in Rajasthan. Being in the western part of the state, it includes a part of the Thar Desert. Jaisalmer is to the north of this district while Jalore is in its south. Pali and Jodhpur form its eastern border and it shares a border with Pakistan in the west. Partially being a desert, this district has a large variation in temperature. The temperature in summer can rise up to 51 °C and falls to 0 °C in winter. Luni is the longest river in Barmer district. After travelling a length of almost 500 km, it passes through Jalore and merges in the marshy land of Runn of Kutch.
