Cheltenham also known as Cheltenham Spa, is a regency spa town and borough which is located on the edge of the Cotswolds, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in Gloucestershire, England. The town hosts several festivals of culture, often featuring nationally and internationally famous contributors and attendees. The list of festivals includes: the Cheltenham Literature Festival, the Cheltenham Jazz Festival, the Cheltenham Science Festival, the Cheltenham Music Festival and the Cheltenham Food & Drink Festival. Where to go on a date in Gloucester. Where to date in this Cotswold city.
Hello, and welcome to another in our series of dating venue videos, brought to you by Love Services, providing online dating since 2005.
If you live in the city of Gloucester, this video might provide you with some much needed inspiration to help choose a venue for a first, or subsequent date.
Having spent some time online, getting to know each other, you might have developed an idea of your prospective date's interests.
So, with those preferences in mind, let’s look at some suggestions in Gloucester, which might be suitable for two people who prefer a quiet and relaxing place to get together.
Within the city there's the Barnwood Arboretum Park and Nature Reserve, with its gardens and pond.
Further on to the south east of the city, about 9 miles out, there's the Prinknash Bird and Deer Park, which contains a host of wildlife attractions and is open all the year around. The park is a few miles away from Prinknash Abbey, which is open to visitors and has a cafe and shop on site.
So there are several options for an outdoor date, a picnic, or simply taking advantage of the refreshments on offer at these locations.
If you would prefer to make the most of the main tourist attractions in Gloucester itself, then there are many options in this historic city.
Gloucester was a Roman town, so there is about 2,000 years of history to drawn upon, and several museums which explain some of it.
These include Gloucester Waterways Museum, the Gloucester Folk Museum and, of course, the world-famous and Gothic Gloucester Cathedral, in which you'll find the tomb of King Edward the Second.
A stroll through many central areas of the city will reveal impressive and historic architectural examples from both the Medieval and Tudor periods.
Fancy a glass of wine? How about a visit to a local vineyard?
About 30 minutes by car to the north west of the city is the Three Choirs Vineyard.
As well as wine tasting tours, there's a brasserie and a hotel, so it has everything for a couple who might want to make a day and a night of it.
Back to the city, and there are, of course, plenty of pubs and restaurants.
These include; the Brewhouse & Kitchen, on the restored Victorian quayside, The Dick Whittington Tavern in Westgate Street, possibly opened in honour of the former Lord Mayor of London, and Café René, a steakhouse and grill in Southgate Street.
For restaurants, there's; Bill's Gloucester Quays Restaurant, the Sebz Cafe Tapas Restaurant in Northgate Street, and The Med, another restaurant in the quayside area.
Gloucester is another of England's cathedral cities that has much to offer the visitor and locals alike. With a long history, the restored quayside areas, and the open country surrounding it, a couple should not have any difficulty finding somewhere to spend a day together.
