City of Salzburg - Schloss Mirabell & Baroque Museum
Many people like to marry in Salzburg. This place is called Schloss Mirabell, no less the current city hall. A size larger than the typical wedding location back home.
The 'marmorsaal' of the former castle, that has the interest of passionate lovers. In 1606 Wolf Dietrich, yes the very same, had the castle built for his beloved Salome Alt. It was then called the idyll Altenau. Yes yes, madam found out, fourteen children saw the light of day, through those beautiful windows.
And Wolf was able to keep a close eye on the business from his other pied-a-terre.
In 1818 fire broke out, and the castle once again had to be put in scaffolding to be returned to its look of today. Little was left of the original baroque contours.
Though the Baroque Museum in the former orangery might make you think otherwise. Here you can certainly admire them, the first overtures of the painters. Once a design was approved, they would do it all over again on the wall, the ceiling or in heaven. But their first tests of competence now decorate the walls of the museum.
Salzburg was the city at the centre of salt production and salt trade. Salt was the white gold that brought riches and power. Salzburg is also the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The city contains a wealth of gothic and baroque architecture. Officially designated by UNESCO as World Heritage Site, this site is to be safeguarded for the future as a testimony to its enduring past.

Salzburg
City in Austria
Salzburg is an Austrian city on the border of Germany, with views of the Eastern Alps. The city is divided by the Salzach River, with medieval and baroque buildings of the pedestrian Altstadt (Old City) on its left bank, facing the 19th-century Neustadt (New City) on its right. The Altstadt birthplace of famed composer Mozart is preserved as a museum displaying his childhood instruments.
In the Neustadt, the neoclassical Mirabell Palace formed a backdrop to the film The Sound of Music. On a hilltop in the Altstadt, the imposing medieval Hohensalzburg Fortress has richly decorated Gothic chambers and a museum. The DomQuartier includes the baroque archbishops’ palace and the 17th-century cathedral with its 4,000-pipe organ. Close to Mozart's birthplace is the charming Getreidegasse shopping street. To the south is Renaissance Hellbrunn Palace, with a pleasure garden containing trick fountains, plus the neighboring city zoo

TRIP TO SALZBURG - AUSTRIA
Salzburg (help·info) (Austro-Bavarian: Såizburg; literally: Salt Castle) is the fourth-largest city in Austria and the capital city of the federal state of Salzburg.
Salzburg's Old Town (Altstadt) has internationally renowned baroque architecture and one of the best-preserved city centres north of the Alps. It was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. The city is noted for its Alpine setting.
Salzburg was the birthplace of 18th-century composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. In the mid-20th century, the city was the setting for parts of the American musical and film The Sound of Music, which features famous landmarks in Austria. The musical was a partnership between Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II.
The capital city of the State of Salzburg (Land Salzburg), the city has three universities. It has a large population of students who add liveliness and energy to the area, and the universities provide culture to the community.
Photos and videos were taken with a Nikon COOLPIX P100, not the newer Nikon COOLPIX P500. But performance and features should be almost identical.

Getreidegasse (also known as Grain Lane) is a busy shopping street in the Old-Town section of Salzburg. The house at no. 9 Getreidegasse is the place where Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born and where he lived until the age of 17. Originally called Trabegasse (derived from traben to trot), its name was changed several times before it became the Grain Lane.
The Mirabell Palace (German: Schloss Mirabell) is a historical building in Salzburg, Salzburgerland, Austria.
It was built in the Baroque style, with Italian and French models, by Archbishop Wolf Dietrich Raitenau in 1606. In its geometrically-arranged gardens are mythology-themed statues dating from 1730 and four groups of sculpture (Eneas, Hercules, Paris and Pluton) by the Italian sculptor Ottavio Mosto, from 1690. It is noted for its boxwood layouts.
Salzburg is a tourist favourite, with the number of tourists outnumbering locals by a large margin in peak times. In addition to Mozart's birthplace noted above, other notable places include:

Episode20 - Salzburg Toy Museum.m4v
The Toy Museum in Salzburg houses Austria's biggest collection of historical and famous toys from all over Europe.
For over 25 years, this room holds the Kasperltheater puppet show every Tuesday and Wednesday at 3 pm.
A large collection of paper theaters and paper opera characters, some extremely valuable collector's items, are on display in the museum.
All types of toys are displayed in this 800 square meter museum which was once a public hospital. My favorite part of the museum had to be the remarkable collection of model trains. One room is devoted to a grand HO scale model railroad that operates two locomotives carrying passengers and goods around Salzburg, when you press a button. Even the balloonist is enjoying the trains from high above the city.
The museum has an impressive collection of dolls and magnificent hand-made dollhouses.
We visit the circus toys and costumes display to conclude our memorable visit to this wonderful museum.
Hallstatt, Salzkammergut, Salzburg, Called the three major European art museums Vienna Travel
The picturesque houses of Medieval Europe with a decalcomani reflection over the calm lake, and the steep roof of the church-like steeple flows through the mountains and the white clouds. This is the only picture postcard that represents Hallstatt. Arriving at Hallstatt, the travelers exhale: Ah! This scenery! This is because it is a picture that spreads to the most beautiful village on the lakeside, the ideal place where people want to live someday. This is the beautiful lake and mansion cathedral featured in the movie Sound of Music.
It is quite interesting that this small lake village, formerly a salt mine, became a tourist stop for most of Austria's tourists. As a result, many shops in Hallstatt sell souvenirs related to salt mines such as rock salt.
It was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997 and was once a hot topic for replicating the same village as Hallstatt in Guangdong Province, China.
The city was born in medieval Roman times. There is a salt mine nearby, named 'Salt Castle.'
Once a city that once flourished to be called 'Northern Rome', there are still plenty of colorful medieval architecture.
Salzburg is more famous for its birth than Mozart, a musical genius, than for history. The annual music festival honors Mozart and is filled with sculptures and souvenirs that symbolize Mozart. As the city of music, street musicians are considered to be quite high compared to other cities. In the middle of the city is the Mirabell Garden, which is famous for the stage where Mary, the protagonist, sang with the children of Colonel Fontlab in the movie Sound of Music.
Versailles is in France, and Schönbrunn is in Austria. One of the most gorgeous and beautiful palaces in the world. Built as the summer resort of the medieval Middle Ages Habsburg family, it has over 1,400 rooms. Music Schon Mozart was invited to the palace when he was six years old, and this was the Schönbrunn palace.
Schönbrunn Palace is also famous for its large garden. The gardens, which are called Baroque extremes, are home to numerous monuments of natural beauty, including Roman ruins, tropical greenhouses, and many concepts of small pavilions, fountains and statues. It is also home to the world's first zoo in 1752.
The name Schönbrunn originated in 1619 when Emperor Matthias discovered a 'beautiful fountain' during hunting. During the Christmas season, the Christmas Market is opened in front of the palace and is a popular tourist spot even in the winter.
Located in the heart of the old town, the Stephan Temple is Austria's largest Gothic temple and the iconic building of Vienna. The south tower, nicknamed `` Steple, '' is 137 meters high and the third highest tower in the world. Climb up to 73m using 343 steps to get a good view of the mosque's beautiful roofs and old town, and take the elevator to Austria's largest paper drum tower. Inside the temple, there are beautiful pulpits and altars carved by Anton Pilgram and the stained glass ornament is also worth seeing. In the basement is the Catacombe, where Habsburg houses people's organs.
Vienna's Town Hall, completed in 1883, boasts a spire of 104m in height and has a stunning view from afar. The skating rink and Chris Market are held in the winter season, and various festivals such as film festivals are held in the summer, making it a popular cultural place and resting place for citizens. Surrounded by famous restaurants, you can enjoy the night view of Vienna and enjoy an atmospheric dinner, the Parliament House next to the square, the Vienna University on the right side, the Royal Palace Theatre, and the Opera House not far away. One of the must-see sightseeing courses.
The Hofburg Palace was the residence of the Austrian Habsburg Dynasty from the 13th century until its destruction in 1918.It is a symbol of the Austrian Habsburgs' flaunts, decorated with splendor like the Palace of Versailles in France. It is characteristic. A total of 10 buildings are gathered and are currently used as the president's office and international foreign officer.
Belvedere Palace is a palace used by the nobility of Vienna as a summer villa. Hildebrand, a master of baroque architecture, was designed and made famous, and it was designated as a World Heritage Site as a representative baroque architecture. Belvedere Palace, with its two palaces divided into upper and lower palaces and a spacious garden, is famous for holding Gustav Klimt's Kiss and Judith. In 1716, the lower palace was built, and in 1723, the upper palace was used as a ballroom. In 1752 the palace was sold to Queen Maria Theresia, and the name Belvedere, which means 'beautiful scenery' in Italian, was born. It is said to be one of the most beautiful buildings of the Baroque style in Austria. Today, the palace is used as a national art gallery and exhibits works by leading Austrian artists such as Gustav Klimt, Egonsile and Hans Makart.

The Triumph of Baroque Vienna
Learn more about the exhibition Imperial Privilege: Vienna Porcelain of Du Paquier, 1718 - 44 on view at The Metropolitan Museum of Art September 22, 2009 - March 21, 2010.
Listen to co-curators Jeffrey Munger and Meredith Chilton discuss the details of a delightful dessert table with culinary historian Ivan Day.
Fired by Passion: Vienna Baroque Porcelain of Claudius Innocentius Du Paquier, the publication accompanying the exhibition, is available in The Met Store.
Johann Kräftner, director of the Liechtenstein Museum, Vienna, talks about the High Baroque period in Vienna, around 1700. The nobility—who were patrons of music, theater, architecture, and painting—also supported the art of the porcelain manufacturer Du Paquier. The great monasteries of the time were also important patrons. The influence of Italian artists and the competition with Viennese artists is apparent in the styles of this period.
A one-day symposium gathered leading international scholars to discuss a variety of topics related to the exhibition Imperial Privilege: Vienna Porcelain of Du Paquier, 1718 - 44. The second porcelain factory in Europe able to make true porcelain in the manner of the Chinese was established in Vienna in 1718. Founded by Claudius Innocentius Du Paquier, the small porcelain enterprise developed a highly distinctive style that remained baroque in inspiration throughout the history of the factory, which was taken over by the state in 1744. Du Paquier produced a range of tablewares, decorative vases, and small-scale sculpture that found great popularity with the Hapsburg court and the Austrian nobility. This exhibition charts the history of the development of the Du Paquier factory, setting its production within the historic and cultural context of Vienna in the first half of the eighteenth century. The porcelain featured is drawn from both the Metropolitan Museum and the premier private collection of this material.
The symposium and related exhibition are made possible by Eloise W. Martin and the Melinda and Paul Sullivan Foundation for the Decorative Arts.
