Adelaide Metro 3000 and 3100 class railcars.
From Wikipedia:
History
In March 1985, the State Transport Authority (STA) awarded a tender for 20 diesel railcars (eight 3000 class units with a cab at each end and twelve 3100 class with a cab at one end only) to Comeng, Dandenong. The design was based on the stainless steel shell of the Comeng electric train then in production for Melbourne's Public Transport Corporation, but 2.3 metres longer and with only two doors per side. Because of a contractual requirement to maximise local content, the fit out was conducted at Comeng's Dry Creek facility. The first commenced testing in May 1987, entering service in November 1987. The eight 3000s were built first with the first 3100 class completed in mid-1988.
In the original contract, there was an option to order 76 further examples. However Comeng came back to the STA with a significantly higher price, so the work was put out to tender and a contract for 50 awarded to Clyde Engineering in November 1989. Comeng concluded a deal to sell the 3000 class design and tooling. However by the time construction commenced, Comeng had sold its Dandenong plant to ABB who backed away from an agreement to hand over the jigs and tooling, so they were built between 1992 and 1996 by Clyde Engineering's Somerton factory.
All were delivered with unpainted stainless steel offset by blue and orange stripes. In April 2002 the first was repainted by Bluebird Rail Operations in Adelaide Metro's yellow, blue and red.
Originally they operated on all Adelaide suburban lines, however since the electrification of the Seaford and Tonsley lines in 2014, they have been confined to the Belair, Gawler, Grange and Outer Harbor lines. On rare occasions during Seaford and Tonsley maintenance or emergencies they may replace 4000 class EMUs. They have on occasions ventured beyond the Adelaide metropolitan area, operating special services to Nuriootpa on the Barossa Valley line and Riverton on the Roseworthy-Peterborough line. These tours stopped in the mid 2000s.
Mechanics
Following the 3000/3100 class life extension programme commencing in 2018, all 70 cars are equipped with new Mercedes Benz OM502LA series v8 engines which guarantee quieter idle sounds at stations and more fuel-efficient runs. The new system incorporates 15.9 litre v8 390 kW diesel engines with electronic engine management and four stroke diesel direct injection.
The 3000 class bogies are built by Comeng and feature airbag secondary suspension. All 3000 class railcars are fitted with electro-magnetic track brakes, which are comparatively rare on trains, though they are commonly found on trams. These are operated separately from the normal mechanical and dynamic braking.
Trains are equipped with automatic Scharfenberg couplers which are operated from the driver's cab. Coupling operations are sometimes performed at Adelaide station, requiring an extra staff member to flag the driver as well as to connect the safety chains. This feature allows sets of up to six cars to be formed.
Two headlights are mounted at the top of the car in the centre on driver's cab ends. There are no marker lights at the front; however, there are red marker lights for the rear located on the upper corners. There are metal steps up the side of the car to each door, but they are not used by passengers. They are illuminated by lights at night. All cars are air-conditioned.
Refurbishment
Commencing in April 2018, all 3000/3100 series railcars began a life extension program which included engine upgrades and a new red livery similar to the 4000 class units. The upgrade meant that these railcars can continue to operate on the network for many years to come until network electrification is completed. The modernised livery features silver boarders around the headlights and tail lights to allow for better illumination throughout light hours.

Adelaide Idiot Drivers
First we see a driver just pull out in front (S966 ALX) . Trying to make a two two lane road into 3 or just forcing to brake & head for the next lane.
Then next on Elder Smith Road at 06:15 , we start off from the traffic lights the road goes to one lane. Once I a on the single lane part of the road, another car passes me. The attitude of a lot of drivers is, if they are in the right lane, then you just push the other driver to the left. “That is want a friend said to me while telling about my trip across there. He does the same, just drive straight through, if they want to take the left lane, thats there fault.” Driver wonder why there are accidents with that thought in mind. They are the only one that counts on the road.
That was followed by another car passes over a turn right lane area doing at least 90kph in a 70 zone.

Holden Commodore
The Holden Commodore is an automobile manufactured since 1978 by the Holden subsidiary of General Motors (GM) in Australia, and, formerly, in New Zealand. In the mid-1970s, Holden established proposals to replace the long-serving Kingswood nameplate with a smaller, Opel-based model. Opel continued to provide the basis for future generations until the launch of the fourth generation in 2006, which deployed an Australian developed platform.
Initially introduced as a single sedan body style, the range expanded in 1979 to include a station wagon. From 1984, Holden began branding the flagship Commodore model as Holden Calais, with the Commodore Berlina introduced in 1984 gaining independent Holden Berlina nomenclature in 1988. Long-wheelbase Statesman/Caprice derivatives and Commodore utility body variants followed in 1990. Starting from 2000, the utility became known officially as the Holden Ute. The foundations for a revived Monaro coupé, four-door Holden Crewman utility, and all-wheel drive Holden Adventra crossover were provided by the now discontinued third generation architecture.

SteamRanger loco 621 with the Southern Encounter. Victor Harbor to Strathalbyn. 17-6-2012.
SteamRanger steam locomotive 621 is seen departing Victor Harbor with a late running combined Southern Encounter/ Cockle Train heading to Port Elliot, Goolwa, Strathalbyn and eventually onto Mount Barker. This video also shows the train arriving and departing Port Elliot, departure from Goolwa, arrival and departure from SteamRanger's Goolwa depot where the two 70 series Wooden Passenger Carriages used for the Cockle Train were detached, crossing of Currency Creek bridge and arrival at Strathalbyn. 17-6-2012.
On Sunday the 17th of June 2012, SteamRanger steam locomotive 621 hauled a Southern Encounter service from Mount Barker to Victor Harbor and return. The train consisted of 2 of Wooden Passenger Carriages (Centenary cars), one 80 series baggage car and two 700 economy class Steel Passenger Carriages, a total of five carriages for approximately 171 ton. Arrival at Goolwa saw the Southern Encounter cross Brill railcar No.60 which had hauled the 11:00am Cockle Train ex Victor Harbor.
Steam locomotive 621 then shunted an extra two 70 series Wooden Passenger Carriages onto the Southern Encounter consist to form a seven carriage approximately 233 ton combined Cockle Train/Southern Encounter from Goolwa to Victor Harbor. Departure from both Goolwa and Port Elliot stations was delayed due to a problem with 621.
After a late arrival at Victor Harbor three Southern Encounter carriages were detached and stabled in the holding road then after 621 turned on the turntable, departed Victor Harbor with what was meant to be the 1:30pm Cockle Train for Goolwa. Departure from Victor Harbor with this train was at about 2:00pm. 621 was hauling two 70 series Wooden Passenger Carriages (Centenary cars) and two 700 economy class Steel Passenger Carriages, approximately 160 ton. At Goolwa depot 621 was serviced, watered and turned on the triangle ready for the 2:45pm Cockle Train from Goolwa to Victor Harbor in which turned out to be a 3:00pm departure from Goolwa.
At 3:30pm, 621 arrived back at Victor Harbor and after turning on the turntable, pushed the three Wooden Passenger Carriages (Centenary cars) that were on the holding road back onto the other four carriages to make up the combined Cockle Train/Southern Encounter for the return journey back to Goolwa and Mount Barker.
After a late departure from Victor Harbor, 621 stopped en route at Port Elliot then departed for Goolwa and then on arrival at Goolwa depot the two 70 series Wooden Passenger Carriages used for the Cockle Train were detached from the train. Late running saw the Southern Encounter arrive into Strathalbyn approximately 15 minutes behind schedule.
The return run from Strathalbyn to Mount Barker was magical with 621 performing well with the sound of her crisp stack talk and whistle echoing throughout the Bugle Ranges. The run from Strathalbyn up the 1 in 45 grades of Stirling Hill and then onto Philcox Hill was made in 43 minutes. Some slipping occurred as there was some light rain falling at times. Coasting downgrade from Philcox Hill into Mount Barker, the Southern Encounter arrived some 20 minutes behind schedule but no one was heard complaining. As usual another magical day was had behind steam.

Steam in the Summer - Y112 to Frankston
On December 17th 2017, Heritage operator Steamrail held their annual Members Christmas tour with the oldest vintage 1889 steam locomotive Y112, the Y class was used to operate the trip to Frankston, as part of training new train drivers and firemen, as 4 other drivers were retiring.
This is the first time a Y class has returned to Frankston in 118 years, as they were used to haul freight and passenger services from Ballarat to elsewhere. A total of 20 Y Class steam locomotives were constructed between 1885 and 1889 by Phoenix Foundry in Ballarat.
