Our adventurous trip to Isla Bastimentos, Panama
So this is pretty old, but I completely forgot I had it (because I filmed it on someone else's camera). So I thought I should upload it :D I went here with the organization I work with, One Library at a Time to build a library for the children on the island. It was an amazing experience and I wish I had taken more video.
You can see all of the still photos and/or order prints at the following link:

Panama, Amador, Smithsonian (STRI)
Captured mid morning in front of building 1914 in Amador (Causeway). This building houses the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI) which employs many multinational scientists, biologists, and meteorologists. Don't forget to check out the aquarium complete with petting tank. On a clear day, the Panama City skyline is completely visible and offers great views. Scooter/bike rentals are possible and several restaurants make Amador a great day trip.

Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute - Galeta Marine Laboratory - Student Orientation Video
The Galeta Marine Laboratory is located on the Caribbean coast of Panama in the Province of Colon. It was established in 1964. The main priority is research, but we also value communicating the results of this research to non-scientific audiences in order to increase awareness and understanding of the natural world.
Our Educational Program offers guided visits to students, tourists and the general public. In these visits, we explain the unique ecosystems and wildlife of Galeta and emphasize the importance of conserving the environment we share.

Panama: Migrants Make Dangerous Journey Through Darien Gap
The Panamanian authorities are experiencing a surge in migrants passing through the Darien Gap, a roadless and lawless tropical strip of land connecting Central and South America, on their way to the US and Canada.
A visit to a temporary camp in Penita on Monday shows the scale the humanitarian crisis on the Colombian-Panamanian border.
In normal times, Penitas is an indigenous village with fewer than 200 inhabitants. They have no running water, mobile phone coverage, medical clinic or regular transportation. These days Penitas is overwhelmed with migrants, who sleep on bunk beds and floor mats in a warehouse or outside in tents.
At Penitas, officials vaccinate migrants for measles, tetanus and rubella and are doing background checks as a security measure before transporting them west. The International Organization for Migrants said it is working with immigration authorities and border police to better manage the camp.
The migrants largely originate from Cuba, Haiti and several African countries, taking various routes to the Darien Gap. The are reportedly fleeing poverty, misery, discrimination, political conflicts, war and extremist violence.

I am not a flower expert but I am fairly certain this is a type of wild orchid found in Southern France. I am pretty sure I had this shown to me and explained in the region of Dordogne when I was here two years ago.
