WORLD'S TALLEST CLIMBING WALL - Basecamp in Reno, NV
Girls Meet Globe didn't expect to encounter the world's tallest climbing wall on the side of our Reno hotel, The Whitney Peak Hotel. But as soon as we saw it, we had to test it out. Watch us conquer 164 feet of vertical climb!

Nevada Road Trip (Part 3)- Reno Rock Climbing + Kayaking at San Harbor
We're wrapping up our road trip in Nevada with a trip to the Biggest Little City on Earth... RENO! We check out the Whitney Peak Hotel, home to BaseCamp Climbing Gym and the world's TALLEST artificial climbing wall. At 14 stories tall it's one big challenge... will we be up to it?
After Reno we head back to East Shore Lake Tahoe to kayak at Sand Harbor State Park. We fly the drone and get some incredible shots... but should point out that we had special permission and not everyone is allowed to do it. Soowweee.
After kayaking Lake Tahoe we check out the newly opened East Shore Trail for bikes and take it for a test spin! As well as taking in the sights of the stunning Lake Tahoe!

Day 5 Nevada: Kingston to Reno

On the final day of our road trip, we head to Austin, a town with a population of 300, near the geographical center of Nevada. We rest up at Miles End B&B, a fetching wilderness retreat with a stone lodge and a wood-burning barrel hot tub. Next, we drive southwest of town to Austin’s most famous attraction, Stokes Castle and discover a shoe tree nearby, draped with hundreds of pairs of Nikes, adidas, pumps, boots, ballet slippers, even stilettos from nearby brothels. Just a hop and a shoe’s toss away we pull into Old Middlegate Station, the actual “Middle of Nowhere,” population 17, home of the Monster Burger, where I officially lose a battle to a burger. At Frey's Gin distillery, we taste some of the best gin I've ever spiked my tonic with and head back to Reno for, not gambling or casinos, but the world's tallest climbing wall. On this trip through the backlands of Nevada I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I ended up where I was intended to be.

Things to Do in Nevada: My Top Outdoor Activities in Reno and Lake Tahoe
We start our Reno Experience 20 minutes outside the city on one of the peaks of Sierra Nevada. Here, we join Tahoe Adventure Company for a snowshoe tour for some of the most epic views of Lake Tahoe. Next, we head to Diamond Peak Ski Resort which has some of the most scenic ski runs I’ve ever experienced. Make sure to ride the Crystal Express run to the bottom. It’s a long easy trail with stunning views of Lake Tahoe juxtaposed against the snowy peaks of the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
Located less than an hour drive from Reno, it is easy to spend a day skiing Diamond Peak before heading back to Reno, which has more lodging and dining options, come evening. The small city hosts a range of hotels including Circus Circus and the Eldorado.
And while many people associate Reno mostly with casinos, there is actually quite lot more to do here than gamble. You’ll notice right away, driving down the main drag, that there’s also a giant climbing wall. At 164 feet it is the world’s largest manmade wall of its kind and is part of the just opened Basecamp rock climbing gym, which also has a 7,000-square-foot indoor component inside the Whitney Peak Hotel. If you’re looking for indoor kid friendly amenities, look no further than Nevada Discovery Museum. It features a number of fun interactive exhibitions including Nevada Stories, Under the Stars and Inside Out an Anatomy Experience.
Back on Virginia Street, there is plenty more entertainment. You don't want to miss eating at Kingpai inside the Circus Circus, which is a 24 hour all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant on the weekends. After mosey on down to the Eldorado, where you can grab a drink at the Roxy, a jazz and martini bar inside with awesome happy hour specials. The music is fantastic and the jazz piano player takes songs by request and also sings his own sets. Try the chocolate martini or if you prefer a different spirit, The Kentucky is great for bourbon drinkers. Before you know it, the sun has set on Downtown Reno, closing out the perfect day in this city.

These elevators got a slight upgrade. Orange ERM/Dewhurst buttons and indicator replaced with blue Innovation Premier. This particular hotel is non-gaming and non-smoking, and houses some of the tallest rock climbing walls in the United States. The whole second floor of the Whitney is a rock climbing facility. Place is very swanky and the employees are very friendly!

Denali, Whitney, Rainier, Gannett, Granite - the tallest, most dangerous peaks in America. Places we won't visit in this particular video. In the meantime, spend a few minutes with the Happy Hiker as he strives for the summit of 26-17 30th Street, in Astoria, and follow along as he works toward his ultimate goal: to visit the highest point in every US State - in just one year.
Mt. Rose Summit Hike
Here is a slideshow of a hike I took to the top of Mt. Rose, the highest peak in the North Tahoe area. Starting at 8,900 ft. (2.71 km) rising to 10,800 ft. (3.29 km) with a total vertical climb of about 2,100 ft. (0.64 km) with all the ups and downs on the way.
It took me 2 h 35 m to make the assent; I spent about an hour on the summit; and came down in 1 h 45 m, spending about 5 minutes at the falls.
