City of Basel english
Where Switzerland, France and Germany meet lies Basel, at the heart of a trinational metropolitan area. In this unique location, the city has much to offer: an international flair, good schools, innovative research, a thriving economy, an excellent regional and international transport infrastructure, a rich cultural life and a high standard of living. As a border city with inhabitants from more than 160 countries, Basel is cosmopolitan despite its small size. Last but not least, Basel is the second-sunniest place in Switzerland.

Basel, Switzerland Travel Video
Basel is Switzerland's oldest university city. Historic landmarks of the city include the large market square with its richly decorated red sandstone town hall and the late Romanesque-Gothic cathedral. During a walk through the old town, past small boutiques, antique book shops but also shops of modern designers, a visit to the Läckerli Huus to try the traditional Basel honey cake is well worth your while. Basel is tradition-conscious and open-minded at the same time, a fact born out by several modern buildings designed by renowned architects such as Herzog & de Meuron, Mario Botta, Diener & Diener and Richard Meyer.
Almost 40 museums make Basel the city with the highest density of museums in the country. Internationally known museums, such as the Basel Art Museum, the museum devoted to the iron sculptor Jean Tinguely, the Fondation Beyeler and the Museum of Cultures attract a great many visitors, as do several galleries and playhouses. Basel is among other things home to the symphony orchestra and the chamber orchestra as well as the musical theatre featuring international productions. And a wide range of classical and contemporary productions are shown on the stages of the Basel Theatre and the Playhouse.

BaselCitytour- Basel
24 Hour Guide to Basel, Switzerland
Art. Culture. History. Food. Luxury. The Rhine River. Basel has a lot going on and I had limited time to see it so I took in the highlights as fast as I could. My homebase was the Hotel Nomad, a trendy boutique with easy access to top sites like the Altstadt, or old city, the Marktplatz which has a farmer's market, Johann Wanner Christmas shop, the Kunstmuseum Basel, Fondation Beyeler and the Rhine River. We took river ferries to cross to Klein Basel, a funky neighborhood with a lot of great shops, cafes and of course, the notable Ueli Brewery.
Check out this travel guide for how to see some of Basel's hotspots, in just 24 hours!

Bâle and Basel is the Same
A collection of the many modes of transport I was in while on holiday in Switzerland, the Netherlands and Paris last year. Seriously, all I did was sit in some kind of vehicle and hit record. I am such a lazy photographer. And a lazy person, which is why it took me a year to make this!
I also realized a bit late that I didn't have enough footage for the 5 minute song I insisted on using, hence the still photos. Yeah, noob.
Many thanks to Pek, Kidd & Sarah :)

Basel, Switzerland quick look
Basel, Switzerland is a great international city right on the border with France and Germany, and a major railroad hub. If you are passing through by train, while you're changing trains, perhaps you'll have enough time to take a look at the city of Basel.
Click to subscribe:
Switzerland playlist In our case we only had a hour and a half between trains, but you can leave your luggage of the station, hop in a taxi and head right into downtown Basel which is very close to the train station, of course.
Our driver dropped us off at Claraplatz, only took about ten minutes to get here from the station. And this is part of the new town. You see it's a lovely little square and flowers and benches and shops around it, and the tram l, ine lots of trams running through Basel. Trams make an ideal way to travel for visitors with little time, because the service is frequent s, o we figured okay, let's hop on the tram and head into the Old Town, crossing the river Rhine.
You'll find that you can see the highlights of Basel in just about one hour, and if you're really pressed for time head straight for the main square of the Old Town, the Marktplatz, the marketplace, and you'll find there's food stands, lots of people cheese and flowers for sale, and maybe you can get a quick lunch at the sausage stand. And don't worry about the schedule, because this market is open every day of the week.
Of course you could spend several days enjoying Basel and its surroundings. There is so much to see here. For example, you could visit forty different museums and soak up the multicultural ambience of the city with that international location at the border of Switzerland, France and Germany. And with it all, they claim a Mediterranean flair, with three hundred days of sunshine a year and a fair temperate climate. Basel is generally counted among the cities with the highest standard of living in the world, so you could really enjoy an extended stay here. However, in our case we're just changing trains so we're giving you a quick look.

BASEL, SWITZERLAND: One Day Tour
A travel made to the city of Basel located near the border of Switzerland
BASEL TOUR WITH DRONE (4K)
Basel is one of Switzerland’s cultural hotspots that has a wide variety of activities on offer for its visitors. From the city’s major tourist sights, such as the Basel Münster, as well as inventive museums, like the paper mill museum, to creative activities, such as a ghost tour of the town, Basel promises a successful trip for all ages. Read below for our pick of the top ten things to do and see.
The part of Basel that lies roughly between the river and the old city gate at Spalentor is not large but quite atmospheric with its stone streets, medieval churches, beautifully maintained old homes, and brightly painted fountains. But leave it to Basel to introduce a thoroughly modern and whimsical fountain by Swiss sculptor Jean Tinguely in the midst of the stately historic houses. Filling a pool in Theaterplatz is a series of playful and ingenious water-spouting contraptions made of scrap metal. In winter, these freeze into fantastic ice sculptures.
