Places to see in ( Noto - Italy ) Basilica San Salvatore
To the right of the Cathedral the complex of the SS. Salvatore whose scenographic aspect happily blends three buildings of different architectural styles: the Monastery with baroque decorations, the neoclassical Basilica and the Seminary built in the middle of the century. XIX). In 1767 the construction of the basilica began, which was to replace the old church, already under construction from 1723, but in ruins in 1790. The current church develops with the longitudinal axis inside the space occupied in ancient times by the primitive cloister of the Benedictine monastery, incorporating a part of it.
During the construction of the church, after the death of Andrea Gigante, the initial project was modified and to the Canon D. Antonio Mazza is attributed the new project of the prospect (which juts out onto a churchyard bordered by platelets) and the pronaos of the church that was consecrated in 1802. The decorative cycle of the interior of the church of the SS. Salvatore di Noto is one of the most significant testimonies of the Sicilian cultural transition phase between late Baroque and Neoclassicism. Started in 1794 and completed over a period of two years, it is the result of the pictorial interventions by the Palermo Ermenegildo Martorana and the stucco works by Giovanni Gianforma. It is a unitary decorative plan that defines the single hall and which obeys iconographically a theological program.
Among the paintings, the frescoes of the vault representing La Pentecoste (in the center) have particular artistic relevance, St. Paul on the road to Damascus and The apparition of three mysterious men to Abraham and the paintings (oil on canvas) that are on the side altars on the right side The Adoration of the Magi (attr. To Giuseppe Patania), The Crucifixion (attributed to Giuseppe Velasco); on the left side The presentation of Saints Mauro and Placido in San Benedetto (signed Giuseppe Velasco, 1808), La Madonna del Rosario (attributed to Giuseppe Velasco).
The interior features an artistic pipe organ by Donato del Piano (18th century), a silver urn containing the relics of S. Restituto Martire, moved from Rome in 1662 and, on a right altar, a valuable wooden sculpture of the Madonna and Child. Places to see in ( Spoleto - Italy ) Basilica di San Salvatore
San Salvatore is a romanesque-style, former basilica church located in the center of Spoleto, Province of Perugia, region of Umbria, Italy. The church is ancient and was erected prior to the 9th century likely around the burial site of two early Christian martyrs, Concordio and Senzia. Around that time, under Lombard rule, the church was dedicated to San Salvatore, but the monastery remained the Monasterium Sancti Concordii.
In the 16th century, the apse was frescoed with scenes of the Crucifixion. The central nave is tall and long and ends in a circular apse. The façade has sculpted architraves. The interior appears to have repurposed ancient Roman columns.
In 2011 was declared a UNESCO world heritage property as part of seven sites recalling Lombards in Italy. Places of power (568-774 A.C.). Outside of the basilica is a town cemetery, designed in 1837 by the architect Ireneo Aleandri.

Places to see in ( Noto - Italy ) St Nicholas Cathedral
Noto Cathedral (Italian: Cattedrale di Noto; La Chiesa Madre di San Nicolò) is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Noto in Sicily, Italy. Its construction, in the style of the Sicilian Baroque, began in the early 18th century and was completed in 1776. It is dedicated to Saint Nicholas of Myra, and has been the cathedral of the Diocese of Noto since the diocese's establishment in 1844.
The cathedral dome collapsed in 1996 as a result of unremedied structural weakening caused by an earthquake in 1990, to which injudicious building alterations in the 1950s may have contributed. It has since been rebuilt, and was reopened in 2007. Construction of the Church of St Nicholas began in the early 18th century, as part of the general reconstruction in Sicily following the devastating earthquake of 1693.
The long interval between the beginning of the building, to designs by Rosario Gagliardi, and its completion in 1776 under the supervision of Bernardo Labisi, probably accounts for various peculiarities and inconsistencies of design, and the introduction of Neo-Classical elements. Moreover, the principal doorways are revivals of 15th-century architecture, based on the style of Vignola or Domenico Fontana. The large central window of the west front, with its ears and curvilinear tympanum borrows from the repertoire of Andrea Pozzo and resembles work elsewhere in Noto by Francesco Paolo Labisi (for example, the Chiesa del Carmine).
The façade, the composition of which is comparable to those of the church of Notre-Dame, Versailles, and the pre-revolutionary church of Saint-Roch in Paris, was started in late 1767 (the nearby campanile bears the date 1768) to designs of about 1740 by Gagliardi. In the 19th century the dome had to be reconstructed twice, ending up as a Neo-Classical construction, after collapses caused by earthquakes. In the 1950s much refurbishment was carried out, not entirely successfully, for example the trompe-l'oeil of the vertical elements and the tempera decoration of the vaults by the painters Arduino and Baldinelli, as well as major alterations to the high altar and the organ. Most serious however was the replacement of the original pitched roof of the nave by a heavy loft of Roman brick and concrete which was probably one of the causes of the collapse of 1996.
The exterior is of pale yellow limestone, in the Sicilian Baroque style. In front of the cathedral are four statues of saints on pillars. On the left tower is mounted the church bell, and on the right tower a clock. In the central tower, there is a large window. There are also three doors. Over the crossing is the large central dome. The interior is now simply painted white, as the 18th century interior decoration was destroyed in the collapse. The principal features and furnishings are those consecrated on 13 January 2011, as above. The cathedral houses the relics of Saint Corrado Confalonieri, patron saint of the city of Noto.
