2016 Basking Shark Scotland Highlights
This video is a compilation of many of our best bits from the 2016 season (reuploaded).
Scuba for Families dive in cold water in Oban with Basking Shark Scotland
Scuba for Families had a great day out with #BaskingSharkScotland who enabled a group of eight to dive, snorkel, kayak and paddle board Aon the same day. The diving took place at #AIRDNACUILE a gentle wall dive of kelp forests, dahlia anemones, sun starfish, urchins, common crabs and much more. The paddle boarding & snorkelling was located at #GylenCastle a ruined castle, or tower house, at the south end of the island of Kerrera in Argyll and Bute, Scotland, on a promontory overlooking the Firth of Lorne.

Basking Shark Scotland | Highlands and Islands Enterprise
When Shane Wasik graduated with a degree in Marine Biology, his dream was to work with Sharks. Years later, he's now the owner of Basking Shark Scotland which offers boat tours of the Argyll coast with customers hoping to catch a glimpse of basking sharks. With digital technology a large focus for the business, Wasik is looking to evolve Basking Shark Scotland over the next few years.
HIE, as part of the Digital Scotland, is leading on one of the most complex Fibre Broadband deployment projects in the UK. We aim to deliver services to 84% of premises across the Highlands and Islands by 2016, and are working to find ways to reach even further. Equally important is our work to provide specialist online and face-to-face support for businesses and communities to help them realise the benefits of digital connectivity.

Basking Shark Scotland August 2016
While Cayman was deployed, I took a solo trip up to Oban, Scotland for a week long adventure with Basking Shark Scotland. Check them out here:
The basking shark is the second largest living fish, after the whale shark, and one of three plankton-eating sharks along with the whale shark and megamouth shark. Adults typically reach 6–8 m (20–26 ft) in length. THESE THINGS WERE MASSIVE!!!
Along with the sharks, you can see harbor and grey seal, lion's mane jellyfish (largest in the world), and amazing tropical (looking) waters along the Inner Hebrides of Scotland. It might look super warm and sunny, but don't let that fool you! The water was SUPER chilly for this Florida girl!

Basking sharks at the Isle of Coll and Isle of Mull - Scotland
Filmed on two day trips, organized by Baskingsharkscotland.co.uk. First day one very big female near the coast of the Isle of Coll. The second day a nice group of 8 sharks, just in open water between the Isle of Coll and Mull. The highlight was a very impressive 'train' of 4 basking sharks.

Free Dive Tour & Basking Sharks, Seals, Caves, Yoga, Adventure!
For more advanced snorkellers and those experienced with breath-hold, apnea and free-diving then our part of Scotland provides unique and stunning locations. Following on from the success our 2017 free-dive expedition we are going to run it again.
See here for details.
It's a bespoke free-diving tour based on the best dive locations using our experience over many years. The tour will be held at the end of August which is when the water is at it's warmest and we have a range of site options throughout the islands. There are still decent chances of encounters with basking sharks as this is still within our peak season. Our tours are all about great experiences, time with wildlife and amazing locations. It's not about big depths, it's about quality time in the ocean.
Oban | Scotland | Explore UK
Oban is a town in Scotland. It’s a gateway to the Hebridean islands. The Colosseum-like McCaig’s Tower overlooks Oban Bay. Seafood eateries cluster by the harbour. Outside town is the ruined Dunollie Castle, once the seat of Clan MacDougall.
