Georgia's rave revolution - BBC News
In May this year, riot police raided the country's most popular nightclubs prompting thousands of young Georgians to rave in the streets in protest.
But the events also revealed an undercurrent - a clash between liberal youth and conservative far-right groups.

Reflections on Tbilisi | Resident Advisor
This May, a drama played out in Tbilisi's club scene that by now many people know by heart: the police raids on Bassiani and Café Gallery, the protests that followed, and the ensuing standoff in which the police kept Bassiani locked up for weeks. RA's 24/7 party took place just a month later, and while the subject of nightlife and politics in the Georgian capital had received plenty of coverage by then, we saw an opportunity to approach it from a more intimate angle: in personal narratives from people in the scene. Giorgi Kikonishvili and Mari Kurtanidze are two ravers and LGBT activists who grew up in Tbilisi. In these two monologues, they reflect on the extraordinary role Tbilisi's nightlife played in their lives.

Georgia's rave scene is sparking a huge political movement for pro-LGBTQ rights in Europe
Georgia's growing rave scene is making it the next hot spot of Eastern Europe. But now the country's dance scene is giving way to an even greater political movement. The White Noise movement is advocating for drug policy reform and a greater acceptance of the LGBTQ community.

We dance together, we fight together!
#Bassiani and #CaféGallery, the prime spots of Tbilisi's dance music scene, were raided by armed police last night.
The venues were raided by the Georgian military police in full riot gear with machine guns and everyone on the dance floor was made to stand against the walls with hands to their sides.
Officers stormed the clubs as part of the government's response to five drug deaths over the past two weeks, which the authorities claim are linked to Bassiani but the club issued a statement claiming none of the tragic deaths have occurred at the venue and this was simply part of a smear campaign by right-wing political forces.
How did Tbilisi’s club community react to the news? They threw a PROTEST RAVE outside the Georgian Parliament with thousands of protestors demanding the resignation of the minister of internal affairs who apparently ordered the raid!
