EXPLORING VIETNAM | CERAMIC VILLAGE IN HANOI
Starting with the series “EXPLORING VIETNAM”, the tourist attraction of today which is BAT TRANG CERAMIC VILLAGE.
Located in an area rich in clay, the ceramic village has advantage of ingredients to create fine ceramics. Moreover, lying besides the Red river, between Thang Long and Pho Hien, two ancient trade centers in the north of Vietnam during 15th-17th century.
Bat Trang belongs to Gia lam district of Hanoi. You can catch the bus 47 (Long Bien- Bat Trang) that stop just a few steps from Dong Xuan market with the end terminal in Bat Trang. The bus runs every 20 minutes. You can also ride a motorbike from the center of Hanoi to Bat Trang ( 20 minutes) – rent one or get a Grab car to take you there!
Bat Trang pottery products have been highly appreciated for their quality, many designs, designs and types, divided into functional groups such as household ceramics, worship items, fine pottery Art, building ceramics and decorative ceramics.
Especially, when visiting here, you can make your own ceremic products with the instruction of local people. The price for each product is around VND40,000 - 50,000.
It’s really cool. You should try it and bring your own product to go home.

BAT TRANG ceramic village - 700 year olds handicraft Village Vietnam
Bat Trang traditional village of Hanoi is a tourist attraction for both domestic and foreign tourists.
Stores at Bat Trang shows products in different shapes and styles. Made by family companies, the price here is quite reasonable. A lot of people from surrounding regions and abroad come here to buy their favorite ceramic products.
Apart from daily items such as pots, cups, plates, stores sell a wide range of good such as interior decorations, worship items, etc. Ceramic pictures are selected by many customers.
You can buy souvenirs likenecklaces, bracelets, key chains, piggy banks to present to your relatives and friends.
Visiting the ceramic village, tourists are able to take part in many entertainment activities such as riding buffalo vehicle to visit the village.
Tourists cannot miss out making a handmade ceramic gift. You will be provided a rotating table and a tray of clay. Shopkeepers will guide you in how to create a ceramic product. Finally, you can feel free to shape your product.
Shapes like cup, pot, bowlare easy to make. After finishing your product, it takes one hour to dry. And then, you will decorate it with available colors.

Bat Trang, located on the Red River in northern Vietnam, has been an important ceramics center for centuries. The skilled artisans of Bat Trang village have been responsible for carrying on a tradition of making pottery that has a distinctive look.
This pottery village exports more than USD 40 million in ceramic goods annually, particularly dinnerware and ornamental ware. During this 3-hour tour you’ll see pieces being made, including bowls, dishes, pots, cups, wine jars, large vases, and big-bellied jars. Each piece is further distinguished by a glaze, such as an ancient pearl blaze, crackle glaze, dark glaze, indigo-blue flower glaze, grey flower glaze, or melt glaze.
Bat Trang’s celadon, crackle-glazed vases, and designs inspired by ancient times are popular around the world. In addition to observing the art of making ceramics by hand you’ll have an opportunity to visit family factories all over the village to find a special piece to take home.

Theses man height ceramic vases are world famous and being produced in the small village of Bat Trang, which is a 20 minutes car ride from the Old Quarter in Hanoi.
We loved watching the workers painting and adding glase over the ceramic pieces and the final product is just stunning.

We would like to introduce one place that you should visit when travel to Bat Trang: Van Van (Vạn Vân) gallery.
Van Van is considered as a small museum that exhibits Bat Trang ancient potteries. It is a 200-year-old house located in 400 square meters in Bat Trang pottery village. This gallery was established by a lawyer -- Tran Ngoc Lam -- who was born and grown up in Ngoc Ha, Hanoi. He became passionate to Bat Trang pottery since he first visited the village. Then, he spent seven years researching and collecting products to establish the gallery....
