The Cave and Basin National Historic Site of Canada is located in the town of Banff, Alberta, within the Canadian Rocky Mountains, at the site of natural thermal mineral springs around which Canada's first national park, Banff National Park, was established. The Canadian National Park system was effectively born because of the hot springs, discovered accidentally by three Canadian Pacific Railway employees on their day off in 1883, but known to Aboriginals for 10,000 years and a special healing cave. They noticed steam escaping from a large hole in the side of the mountain. One man descended through the skylight entrance into the cave using a felled tree. Further investigation led them to enjoy a dip in the mineral-rich waters of a sulpherous-smelling spring, making them the first white men to bath in what became Banff's renowned Upper Hot Springs at Sulphur Mountain.

The Bar U Ranch National Historic Site is the only National Historic Site to commemorate the history and importance of ranching in Canada. In the Video Cowboy Singer Lewis Martin Pederson is featured This video shows how the Bar U Ranch celebrates ranching heritage and the cowboy way of life. Visit “the ranch that fed the world”, the historic Bar U Ranch. Located south of Longview, Alberta, the Bar U was one of the first corporate ranches in western Canada. The Bar U’s beef products fed Native Canadians, railroad workers, Mounties, and were shipped to cities in the U.S. and Britain. Now a Parks Canada site, the Bar U has ties to the Prince of Wales, to one of Canada’s most prominent black cowboys John Ware (48 minutes) and to the Calgary Stampede. The Sundance Kid (played by Robert Redford in the movie) 43 minutes once worked at the Bar U Ranch. Set in the rolling foothills of the Rockies. At its peak, the ranch extended over 160,000 acres with 30,000 cattle and 1000 Percheron horses.

Post Office Fashion Museum - Cambridge Ontario
The Fashion History Museum is located in the northern part of Cambridge, Ontario. The collection and galleries are in an old converted post office from 1929. The exhibits change two to three times a year. This video showcases the Back to the Eights collection with Punk outfits, Japanese styles from the time as well as the large shoulder pads synonymous with the 1980s. The building was converted in 2014-2015 and retains much of the original character and design elements incorporating them into the museum. This interview is with Kenn Norman, CEO & Founding Chair at Fashion History Museum.

Blue Whale Skeleton - Canadian Museum of Nature
Found in 1975 when it beached near Codroy, Newfoundland, the Canadian Museum of Nature's blue whale underwent quite an aesthetic overhaul to be ready for its May 2010 debut in the museums new Water Gallery. This skeleton of the largest animal on Earth is the first to be displayed in Canada, and one of only a few worldwide.
After the whale's discovery, the animal was flensed on the beach to remove the skin, flesh and blubber. The remains were then shipped to Ottawa, where the skeleton was buried for eight years in sandy clay soil on the citys outskirts. Microbes and enzymes in the soil served to remove the remaining tissue and break down oil that whales naturally produce for buoyancy and insulation. But the process was incomplete - the bones continued to slowly leak oil, even after 20 years in storage. Museum staff then created an enzyme bath solution to remove the oil that was trapped deep inside the whales bones.
Adult female blue whales are even larger than males. Although the museum's female whale had not reached full maturity when she died, she measures approximately 19 metres in length. Her vertebral discs and skull are unfused, indicating that she would have continued to grow. Despite her young age, the whale bones alone weigh a whopping 2,300 kg! The blue whale population flourished in every ocean until it was hunted almost to extinction. In 1966, the species became protected by the International Whaling Commission and wild populations have since rebounded.
The Roman Baths in Bath Spa
The Roman Baths are nearly two thousand years old. The Romans called the city of Bath Aqua Sulis. The spa water fell as rain 10,000 years ago in the nearby Mendip hills. Driven down through carboniferous limestone cave systems by pressure from the high water table on the Mendips the water reaches depths of 2 to 3 kilometres. At the King's Spring, seen here, the flow is 1.1 million litres per day (250,000 gallons). The temperature of the water is 46°C (115°F)

Hakone Open Air Museum | Subtitles | Hakone | Japan
Hakone Open Air Museum is located in Hokone, Japan.
This museum is an indoor/outdoor museum that uses the natural beauty of the landscape to compliment the beauty of the created works scattered throughout the park. Focusing mainly on sculpture, the park showcases many beautiful artworks from Japanese and foreign artists.
One of the largest pieces, called the Symphonic Sculpture, allows guests to climb up into the piece. The artwork is actually a tower which offers great views of the museum grounds.
In addition to the outside sculptures is the Picasso Exhibition Hall where you have two floors of his interesting artwork. It is the only place within the museum where photos and videos are not allowed.
Kids will love the intricate play place made by Toshiko Horiuchi MacAdam. I personally know this artist from my home town in Nova Scotia, Canada. Although Toshiko is Japanese, she has spent a large portion of her life in Canada, but travels internationally creating these art/play spaces for children.
In addition to these structures, there are areas for you to relax with a drink and some food, and a place where you can soak your feet in the outdoor foot bath.
