Sun Yat-sen Museum Penang - Tourist Attractions in Malaysia
The Sun Yat-sen Museum Penang (Malay: Muzium Sun Yat-sen di Pulau Pinang; Chinese: 孫中山槟城基地博物館), formerly called the Sun Yat-sen Penang Base, is a museum in George Town, Penang, Malaysia. The museum is dedicated to Sun Yat-sen, a nationalist from China who established the Chinese Republic in 1912 after his efforts in Xinhai Revolution.
The Sun Yat-sen Museum Penang is in a historic house. The museum building is the same house where Sun Yat-sen devised many of his plans to overthrow the Qing Dynasty. In 1910, acting on the immense support among overseas Chinese for the ousting of the Qing dynasty, Sun shifted the southeast Asian headquarters of the Tongmenghui party to Penang.
When Sun first brought his family to Penang in 1910, the building housed the reading club Penang Philomatic Union. The club was a cover for Sun's political party. That same year, Sun established the world's oldest Chinese newspaper. It was in this building that Sun Yat-sen delivered his famous speech at the Penang Conference.
The building was constructed circa 1880. It was built to be a residential townhouse. A superb example of Straits Settlements merchant's home and with an unusual length of over 130 feet (40 metres), the building is a living example of the architectural heritage of Penang. Numerous of the building's original features, which include a cozy courtyard garden, a quaint timber staircase, beautifully patterned floor tiles, and large beams, survive to this day. The interior is equally splendid. Old blackwood Straits Chinese furniture and ornately carved wooden screens add an ambiance of the olden days. The fidelity to the past extends to the kitchen, which has the original firewood stove and kitchen utensils.
In 1926 ownership of the house passed to a Hokkien merchant, Ch'ng Teong Swee. Today, the house is owned by his granddaughter Khoo Salma Nasution, a writer and heritage advocate. The house was extensively renovated in 2010--11, with special changes to its façade and roof. The craftsman for the renovation project came from Quanzhou, southern China.

I made video in two parts of almost all street art painting what you can find in George Town, Penang.
Ernest Zacharevic works: this Lithuanian artist is probably the reason why street art became such a big deal to Penang in the first place, after his commissioned work ‘Mirrors George Town’ for the George Town Festival back in 2012 became a big hit. His works are by far the most popular out of all the street art I saw, with queues forming to take pictures with these works and appearing on souvenirs quite prominently. He recently had a solo exhibition in early 2014 titled Art is Rubbish is Art, and now has works that can be found in various part of Malaysia, Singapore and Europe.

Lines and dots with splashes of color, the art of batik subliminally speaks with its communicative designs. Originated from Indonesia, the word batik brings us back to its long-standing history; depicting her roots from the very basic of Javanese word of amba ('to write') and titik ('dot’).
The technique of wax-resist dyeing of fabric is an ancient art form, where its application begins from the early days in Egypt. Today, the Batik is a famous art and craft, skillfully crafted by batik makers, who employ a broad range of techniques to explore a more interesting and unique process of fabric designing.
Rozana, an expert in batik making, has been practicing this art for ages. And her expertise is what makes her outstanding in telling the world a fair share of her story- through her art. As Abby Willowroot puts it, art speaks the soul of its culture.
