Boattrip with Batorama in Strasbourg
Batorama runs frequent river boat tours of Strasbourg, allowing you to see the city from a variety of vantage points.
Boats leave from the quai just below the Palais Rohan, just 150 meters (1/10 of a mile) from the Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Strasbourg.
There are departures every half hour from spring to early fall, less frequently in the winter months. There are both covered and openboats, so make sure you buy a ticket for the type of boat you want.
The standard tour lasts an hour and 10 minutes. It follows the River Ill around the Grand Île, which is the center of Strasbourg. Headphones provide a commentary, available in 12 languages.
The tour passes through the colorful La Petite France area, including navigating two locks.

Petite France - Strasbourg - Strasbourg Cathedral and Batorama
Strasbourg, a popular destination for visitors, both holiday makers and day trippers alike.
This short video highlights what visitors can experience in a single day, it includes a river cruise on one of the open top boats 'Batorama' which operate on warmer dry days, there are also vessels with a full glass roof offering protection when the weather is not so kind. Under 4's travel free with reduced rates for children up to the age of 12-years-old. Full rates start at 9.50€ to 12.50€ depending on the length of trip you book.
One of the highlights of a river cruise is passing through the lock gates into Petite France, which - along with the main centre of Strasbourg was granted a UNESCO World Heritage status in 1988, making it the first time an entire city centre was recognised in this way.
Another strong point of the river cruise is that it becomes clear to see en-route that the river has well established footpaths along its banks, so you can follow up with a stroll from the mooring point getting closer to the magnificent, preserved buildings and streets, especially around Petite France.
I was somewhat surprised by the great value of the food and drinks in the cafe´s, bars and restaurants - keeping in mind that Strasbourg is not only the capital of the Alsace region, it is also the official seat of the European Parliament - the Council of Europe, incorrectly regarded by many to be the Capital of the EU, they are separate organisations and there is no official EU capital.
Returning into the centre of Strasbourg from Petite France can be achieved by retracing your steps along the river, or by exploring the much quieter side streets, all are just as attractive as those along the popular tourist routes.
In the centre of Strasbourg you'll find Notre_Dame de Strasbourg - (Strasbourg Cathedral) with its magnificent high tower, festooned with elaborate sculptures hewn into the ostentatious stonework with its reddish hue, the cathedral tower was once the tallest building in the world. Although there is an entrance fee into the Cathedral, I didn't notice anywhere to pay and saw no-one taking money. That said, we had a Strasbourg Pass which can be purchased at Strasbourg Tourist Information Office, just to the side of the Cathedral.
Inside the cathedral there are many more sculptures along with paintings plus a highly decorated Astronomical Clock - a genuine artwork in its own right and very popular with visitors. If I have one criticism it is of the amateur photographers who insist on using flash photography, to them I would say - learn how to use your camera or don't use it - flashlight and ancient artwork is a complete no no. Besides, a much better image of artwork can be achieved without flash. In short you are vandalising historical artwork and producing poorer images as a result.
Although the site of many historic battles and violent disputes, Strasbourg is typically French in many ways, there's an authentic street market where high quality, fresh foods include French cheeses, meats, fish, fruit and vegetables all offered in abundance. No passed its best, overpriced, left over shop stock dressed up as a food lovers market here - the likes of which are currently popping up all over the U.K., Strasbourg market is the genuine article. Alongside the food vendors there's an array of stalls offering antiques & collectables, there's everything from porcelain, furniture and artworks. I picked up a 1930s telephone for only 30€ (with a bit of haggling).
Adding to the atmosphere of the city, you may come across talented buskers, on our visit a jazz quartet featuring Hammered dulcimer players along with an accordion and a double base played to the entertainment of passers by.
I've personally never felt more relaxed or more safe in any city.
I would strongly recommend a visit to Strasbourg and for sure, I'll definitely return to this great city of Alsace.
Strasbourg is just simply a great place to be.

Boat trip BATORAMA - Strasbourg, France
During our trip to Strasbourg we decided to take a boat ride with BATORAMA
to see the city from another perspective.
There are two types of boats, one with air conditioning (the one you see in the video) which unfortunately does not allow beautiful photos for the relief of the glass and the
other without air conditioning, with the roof open.
