If your idea of camping is a quiet family campground, then you've come to the right place. Just north of the town of Arlington on Historic Route 7A you'll find Camping on the Battenkill. The campground has been owned and operated by the Pratt Family for over fifty years.
The Battenkill is known as one of the best trout streams in the East. The challenge is in landing the native trout that reside in the stream. Swimming in the campground is done at the natural swimming hole in the Battenkill where the water is clear and refreshing. For little children who need a quiet area for swimming, there is the local recreational park, located 1000 feet from the campground. Many campers enjoy bringing their own tubes or canoes and floating down the river. Children and adults alike enjoy our open field for playing ball games, swinging on the swings, or digging in the sand pile.

For all the reasons Norman Rockwell may have fallen in love with Arlington, Vermont. This property embodies them all. Welcome is not just letters forming a word on a doormat but from the moment you enter the door, you are home. The Inns windows throughout reveal tranquil views overlooking hillsides of trees, countryside and surrounding mountains. This is one of the finest unspoiled turn-of-the-century Inns in Vermont observe the cast iron door hinges in every room, classic molding, traditional Butler Pantry, wide wrapping New England covered porch. The grand high ceilinged living room with wood burning fireplace demands relaxation and good company. The character in this home is unsurpassed. Possibilities of this property are endless. While the front of the house has three newly remodeled guest rooms used for Inn guests, all with private baths, there is space to expand on the third floor. Open rooms throughout to make a more everyday-lifestyle living or continue as an Inn. Even the separate Carriage house induces dreams of enhancement and life. Camping on the Battenkill
When I was a kid, we used to camp at this great campground in Arlington, VT almost every year. Now, 35 years later, I take my kids there every year. But this video is for my sister, who lives in Texas now and hasn't been able to visit Vermont in many years. This is meant to be a stroll through the campground, from the entrance to the swimming hole at the river; I condensed about 20 minutes of video down to 10. I hope this brings back good memories! The soundtrack consists of the Beach Boys (Let's Get Away For Awhile), Buffalo Springfield (Kahuna Sunset), and R.E.M. (Endgame), with a bit of the Beach Boys (Diamond Head) at the end.
