A documentation of my arrival to Utila, a small island off the coast of Honduras. An awesome experience doing my PADI IDC (Instructor Development Course) at BICD (Bay Islands College of Diving). I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to advance their dive career by doing their divemaster/instructor training. Thanks for everything!

Lionfish Derby Bay Islands College of Diving Utila
Every six months, the Utila dive community organizes a Lionfish derby to contain to numbers of invasive Lionfish on our reefs. Afterwards, the local restaurants send their cooks to the beach to cook up the most delicious meals. Come join us!

Here's out guide to visiting the Island of Utila. Located in Honduras Utila is part of the Bay Islands. In this episode we explore the island, show you around some of the best places to visit, go diving and give you a taste of Island life.
Utila attracts lots of scuba divers as it has fabulous diving at reasonable prices. If you are looking to do a diving qualification then Utila is a great place to do it. We went diving with Parrots Dive Center, which was a very professionally run centre and is owned by locals.

In January 2020 we are setting off on the ultimate vanlife road trip. We are going to drive around the world in our campervan Trudy. In case you don't know us - let us introduce ourselves - we are Chris (48) & Marianne (51). We are a married travel couple. We recently quit our jobs and sold our belongings to travel full time.
After more than 22 years of marriage we are still best friends
The aim is we are going to step foot in every country in the world before we die - or die trying !. We are currently also planning an epic around the world road trip. So stayed tuned for more clips as we TREAD the Globe in either Trudy the TREAD camper van or armed with our backpacks!
We will share with you our adventure and will post regular vlogs and videos of our full time travels showing the best the world has to offer and hopefully inspire you to travel more.
Currently we are backpacking our way around El Salvador and over the months will be continuing to explore and sharing the rest of Central America.

Utila, Cheapest Diving In The World (Bay Islands, Honduras)
There is some amazing scuba diving to be done on the Bay Islands in Honduras. Utila has some of the healthiest reefs ever.
Luckily, it is one of the cheapest places to dive in the world. It has very clear bright blue water which entices you to stay there forever.
Our dive master actually arrived 7 months ago with the idea to do a course and never left. During the 8 days of diving in Utila, we saw so much amazing things underwater, including frog fish, sea horses, ghost pipe fish, nudibranches, rays, banded shrimps, gaudy clown crab, etc.
We would highly recommend staying at Alton's Dive Center as they are sooooo well organized. Everything is executed to perfection and they are very serious about safety. The accommodation (that is free when you are diving) is a 30 meter stumble to the dive boat. On the way to the dive boat you can pick up a coffee (cheap and amazing) and some breakfast.
During the evenings it is nice and quiet here so you can relax. Or you can take a 3 min stroll to some of the great bars that are close by.
