A Trip To Sudbury Ontario
Trip to Sudbury
It was a sudden plan, I just wanted to move out of the day to day life. I opened my mac book pro and logged in to google map. Keeping the pointer on a random location (it turned out to be Ishpatina ridge).
The day was dec 11th 2017, I packed all the needed things for this trip, left home around 6pm as I needed to cover a lot of destinations in coming 2 days. As I reached the station (Union station, Toronto), got to know that the train was late for almost 5+ hours which was a big disappointment.
The train arrived at 2am in the night by the time I was hungry and dead sleepy. Being a vegan is a serious thing, you do not get the right food at the right time. I had 5 packets of Dad's cookies and 3 packets of crunchy peanut butter clif bar packed from home which are really good and for vegans.
Unfortunately the train did not have wifi.
Arrived at Capreol at 11 am. The temperature was -23 degrees c, It's a small town with not many things to see. A bar, a car rental shop, an old church and museum which was closed due to bad weather.
I met this guy in train who was also from Toronto and was heading to Alberta, guess what I had kept one of my cookies pac outside after eating 2, and he ate those without even asking me. Great to meet people.
Had oat meal and green tea for breakfast, walked for 30 minutes to find something worthwhile for seeing. Missed my bus twice to Sudbury. Finally after waiting for a long time I had a smile on my face to see the bus coming towards me. It was so cold that my feet were numb, removed shoes and changed socks in the bus. The girl before me was like what is this guy even doing. she was probably in high school heading to home after a long day.
6 pm and I was in Sudbury. Booked a hotel which near the bus stand in the hope to travel more during the evening. Buy the time I got fresh and ready it was 8:00pm, the place where I crashed was inside a mall and almost all the stores were closed. Ordered 2 plates of fried rice food from a chinese restaurant and finished both, oh my.
I couldn't go out due to bad weather, the temperature dropped to -29 degree c in the night. The next day 13th dec was my birthday and I was supposed to be in Ishpatina ridge that day. Seeing the weather condition I can say that I made the right decision not to leave for Ishpatina ridge, It would have taken a hell out of me to survive in mountains in that condition.
Early morning I checked out of the hotel and travelled towards big nickel, for my bad day that was closed too, it was only opened for special group of visitors which definitely was not me in any sense. I must say the road to big nickel is not a good one, it's really a bad choice of constructors who made those. You are supposed to walked through the highway and in that ice, snow, cold, moving vehicles.
I got a ride towards it, but couldn't get one while getting down. Stood in -26 degrees c for almost 15+ minutes and those shoes and gloves of mine. Never going with such things to a cold place again. I was hungry, cold and the road was too slippery with frozen ice on it. Took the decision and started walking slowly. That was one of my worst days. A walk which takes not more than 3 minutes took me 10+ minutes to cover and I was in serious cold.
Reached deluxe hamburgers just down the hill and red rose it was which saved me. I was still hungry and but there was not much I could eat. I had finished everything that I had on me. The bus stop was 2 feet in snow and I was on the street for almost 30+ minutes, this bus had passed it's arrival time by 25+ minutes. I took a ride to Sudbury bus stand and no talking there after.

The Sky Bar Is Coming Back To Sudbury
The candy that was thought to be lost in early 2019 is making its way back to Sudbury. WBZ-TV's Paula Ebben has the story.
Reading Town Sudbury | April 30-May 8 2016
After successful first and second editions in Moose Jaw and Charlottetown, Canada’s largest bilingual literary festival hits Sudbury in 2016, from April 30th to May 8th.
Reading Town Sudbury Ville Lecture is the The National Reading Campaign’s Reading Town Canada 2016, and the first bilingual Reading Town yet! Reading Town Sudbury Ville Lecture is Canada’s largest bilingual reading festival, and the coolest literary celebration in the country.
Reading Town is about reading and also about community. Children, teenagers and adults alike can all explore events and activities that promote literacy by publicly celebrating reading and the readers who love it.
Why The City of Greater Sudbury?
The panel of authors, publishers, librarians, academics, publishers and teachers that make up the National Reading Campaign’s Board of Directors chose Sudbury for it’s unique linguistic makeup, its proximity to the Atikameksheng Anishnawbek First Nation, and its central role in the artistic life of Northern Ontario.

NORTHERN ONTARIO COMMUNITIES: Pro Ford Nation Or Against? Today In Sudbury...
BitChute:
DURATION: 8m08s -- I'm in Sudbury, Ontario, today for an audition for a TV Series.
When I was done with everything, I had a chance to interact with some of the local retirees in a Timmy's (Tim Horton's) Coffee Shop to find out what they thought about Doug Ford and the PC Party of Ontario.
If this was any sort of random sampling of the local elderly and retired population, then Dougie's got a bit of a dilemma with folks from this part of the province. But what disturbed me *most* was that people vote less for what's in the best interests of this province than they do for the Greater Sudbury Area!
Moreover, there's a bit of anti-Quebec sentiment here which I find strange for one of the largest Franco-Ontarian communities in the entire province outside of Eastern Ontario.
Great to have been here though. Exceptionally nice people and lots of filming going on up here! Especially in North Bay and Thunder Bay. Hopefully I'll have a chance to do a bit more of it in the aftermath of today's yeoman work.
Thanking you again for your support!
I know how difficult it is to sit through long videos. Any free bit of time you devote to watching my stuff, know that I'm profusely grateful.

Chinese Restaurants Along TransCanada(Hwy17) Between Sudbury and Kenora
When Chinese first arrived at Ontario over 100 years ago, they earn their living running either laundries or restaurants. While Chinese laundry has extinct quite a while ago, there are still Chinese restaurants all over Ontario. Walking into a Chinese restaurant in a small mining town in Ontario brings you back in time. Born and raise in Hongkong, I have always found chop suey too Canadian for me. However, having the opportunity to speak with some of the restaurant owners and listen to their live stories, I am coming to like Canadian Chinese food.
This summer, my husband and I went on a road trip to Winnipeg with our children. Along the way, I took pictures of Chinese restaurants in every town we stopped at, and ate in some of them. We even managed to have lunch(at Three Aces in Iron Bridge) and dinner(at Wok with Chow in Marathon) one day! 120 years ago, Men laboured nights and days in Canada to feed their families back home in China, an ocean away. Most of them did not get to unite with their loved ones until they were old and fragile old men. Some of them did not even get to live that long. Today, men and wives come and start a new life together. Those move away from the city to rural Canada hoping to not just make ends meet, but be able to give their children a better education. They leave their children with relatives in Toronto to attend schools and university. They provide for their children, visit them whenever they can, but don't get to watch them grow up. At least, the men don't have to wait for 40 years to be reunited with their wives and embrace their children.
A discussion with Gilles Bisson, MPP (Timmins – James Bay), about The Ontario Liberal government
According to Daniel Dickin in posted on April 20, 2015
Ontario Liberal Scandals Continue to Pile Up:
“…As of September 2014, Ontario's debt is $304.4 billion, an amount that has more than doubled in the 12 years the McGuinty-Wynne Liberals have been in office. That'll be $22,382 from each Ontarian, please. We pay $10.56 billion every year just to carry that debt, which remains the third-largest budget item, behind only health care and education. And the Liberals plan to add another $26.7 billion to the debt with another three years of deficit spending… The Ontario Provincial Police's endorsement of the Liberals continues to hang over both organizations' heads. You may recall that the endorsement came at a time when the police had open investigations into potential Liberal crimes (cancelling gas plants at a massive $1.1 billion public cost for partisan gain and deleting records about cancelling those gas plants)… Only recently were three senior-ranking OPP officers (including one who was a Liberal candidate) suspended over shady dealings including fraud, breach of trust, and money laundering. The investigation that led to that arrest was conducted by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). With such serious accusations and a record of being public bedfellows, one must wonder whether the OPP can ever again be trusted to investigate or comment on anything the Liberal government does.”

I Found the BEST SPOT!! Incredible Pike Fishing
Floating an unfamiliar river for some super aggressive pike. I searched around for a while, and then found one of the best pike holes I've fished in a while!
Fly rod: 9' 8wt Orvis Clearwater rod (4 piece)
Reel: Waterworks‑Lamson Liquid Fly Reel 3.5
Line: 8wt scientific anglers fly line, 20lb tapered flouro leader with a 20lb RIO wire tippet.
Rod/reel setup:
-Quantum Octane 6'6 medium heavy action rod with an Abu Garcia silver max and 30lb braided line, connected to a 27lb 9 steel leader.
***The rod and reel I was using is a cheap setup, and I wouldn't necessarily recommend it. I only use it at the river in case something happens, I'd rather break that than an expensive rod/reel.
