A Boat tour around the Bay of Fires in Tasmania
On our recent visit to Tasmania, we spent a couple of days in Binalong Bay, the gateway to the amazing Bay of Fires.
While there we were lucky enough to take a morning boat tour with Bay of Fires Eco-Tours, discovering this amazing stretch of coastline
We left the port in Binalong Bay, and followed the coast up to Eddystone Point before returning home.
Along the way we saw plenty of wildlife, including multiple pods of dolphins who came to swim alongside the boat and surf the pressure waves off the bow.

Bay of Fires Lodge
Rarely do I rave about a hotel, but I really loved my stay at Bay of Fires lodge in Tasmania. Here's why.
Bay of Fires Lodge Walk
Over the course of four days, immerse yourself in one of the most pristine environments that Tasmania has to offer. Walk the soft sandy beaches, explore secluded coves, kayak the Ansons River and enjoy the uncomplicated luxury of our accommodation at the Forester Beach camp and award-winning Bay of Fires Lodge.
Glamper Update Bay of Fires
The Bay of Fires is certainly one of our most favourite spots, we would even venture as far as to say it has been a highlight of the journey, which is a tough call to make.

Tasmania Wineglass Bay - Hazards Beach 12km Trail Hike or Run
Wineglass Bay - Hazards Beach 12km loop. This is another fantastic trail in Tasmania. It has very little elevation gain and views that are beyond worth the effort. You can also make this trail shorter by doing an out and back to the lookout making it approx 3km
The trail is incredibly diverse making it's way through Granite boulder fields to soft white sandy beaches. There are some stunning places to stop for a picnic, either by the water or on many of the rocky outcrops giving stunning views of either Coles Bay or Wineglass Bay.
Things to note, there is camping available at the start or if planned right mid way through your hike. There is a fee of $12 as a hike in or $24 per vehicle allowing up to 8 people per vehicle. I strongly advise buying a Parks Pass if you plan on visiting more than just this one park.

First of sorry about the shaky camera work and terrible sound. This was filmed before i upgraded to gopro 7 and gimbal. The gimbal is now broke and i still need a microphone that handles wind on the gopro 7. I also badly need more hard drives ideally i need four 8gb hard drives but for now one will have to do. If i do not get these there maybe a big hold on future videos until i do unless i can get the funds together as i this is a hobby not a job. After a windy night wild camped on Mount wellington we went walked over to a view point below the top of the Mountain. We wild camped near a area called The Springs. huts were built over the lower slopes of the mountain. However, none of these early huts survive as they were all destroyed during the disastrous bushfires of 1967, though modern huts are open to the public at the Springs. the bushranger 'Rocky' Whelan, who murdered several travelers in the middle of the 19th century. The cave where he lived is known appropriately as 'Rocky Whelan's Cave', and is an easy walk from the Springs. In February 1836, Charles Darwin visited Hobart Town and climbed Mount Wellington. Commodore John Hayes arrived at the Derwent River, naming the mountain Skiddaw, after the mountain in the Lake District, although this name never gained popularity.

Our Conversation : Tasmania's Economy (2 of 2)
Uncovering a shared positive vision for our future Part 2.
Presented by the board of Sustainable Living Tasmania, this public forum, loosely based on the style of the SBS Insight program, was run by two highly experienced facilitators, Graham Flower and Phil Harrington. The Hon. Justice Duncan Kerr, Chev LH, Patron of Sustainable Living Tasmania opened the proceedings, and a round-up and overview was given at the end by Todd Houstein, Executive Officer of Sustainable Living Tasmania.
We asked a diverse group of outstanding, insightful and constructive thought leaders to participate in Our Conversation. People from many walks of life contributed on the night.
Topics considered on the night were :
Is it possible, even if we thought it desirable, to bolster the 'old economy' model to the point where it could deliver the economic security we desire?
Can the new economy deliver the economic security to which we aspire?
Does this conflict-ridden narrative really describe two different pathways, or rather just one? And, is it conceivable that - with genuine leadership in the public narrative - the Tasmanian community could find a common and shared cause in a sustainable economic future for the state?
The event was held at the Hobart Bahai Centre on the 1st of November 2013 at 6pm.
